The songs sung by most of these bands are still popular and played around the world. The Beatles were, are and always will be the greatest, most influential rock and roll band of all time. I've been listening to their songs, like crazy, for several weeks now. I gave a thumbs up for the music, not this video. Hurray! My Beatles at number one! As for digital, I quit counting tracks (and CD's), but I know I have at least a couple gigabytes. (finding the UK site.. MP3va saved me a PILE of money and I was surprised they had so much old stuff) I still enjoy clean vinyl on my turntable. To be totally honest I'm really not sure if I can tell a difference in the sound, but the act of pulling it out, cleaning the disk and looking at the LP cover while I listen brings me back to a place I can never explain to my grandchildren.

If by "fallen off the radar of time," you mean no longer played on oldies radio, for the most part, you're right. The oldies station in my neck of the woods dropped the 60's several years ago. Programming does that at least every 20 years, generationally. Likely happened nationwide. Philadelphia's WPEN "Station of the Stars," which covered "middle of the road" population music, ended in the late 90's. Some of these bands, however, remain on classic rock stations, like WMGK (unless affected by the firing of Andre Gardner), as well as public radio AAA stations like WXPN. They should also be found on the satellite services. So they're not exactly "off the radar."

The Byrds are known by 60s music people. They will always be 60s and 70s rock and roll heads.

Chicago fell off the radar when Terry Kath died. Although they continued to put out albums, Peter Cetera got his wish to change from an innovative progressive rock band, with jazz influences and horns, to a soft more “adult contemporary” sound striving for Top 40 radio, largely putting out pop songs and ballads. I’ve seen them many times (and performing with The Beach Boys and Earth Wind & Fire), but when Terry Kath passed it was the day Chicago died 😔 IMHO

Back in early August, there was an article published with the title "The Biggest Band in America in 2024 Is … Creedence Clearwater Revival." The article explained that "their greatest-hits collection Chronicle is riding high on the Billboard 200 every week, always somewhere in the thirties or forties. It’s currently Number 39, right ahead of the new Ariana Grande album. It’s higher than anything by the Beatles or the Stones or Zeppelin or Queen." So that's what "fallen off the radar of time" apparently means.

No thumbs up from me. This video is a wee bit sloppy with its research! No, most of these bands have not "fallen off the radar of time" (or the GPS of history either). I have had Blood, Sweat & Tears' 2nd album for many years, but there is no mention on its jacket or on All Music's website (which lists well over 30 members of the band over the years) of anybody named Dylan Alise, Johnathan Powell, Keith Peluso, Brad Mason or Rick Fierabracci. The ISB were known about, but they were an "acquired taste" - one that I came to enjoy - but I was a little late to the game with them. They were one of the most original music-makers of the 1960s and into the 70s, and they're well worth looking into.

They were well known in Britain, maybe not the USA.
@total.stranger2 ай бұрын
They were known in the US, but were considered to be "out there" and an acquired taste, as I said earlier - and it didn't help that they came to be tangentially associated with Scientology. It also didn't help that they never had a "hit", either. I bought "500 Spirits", but didn't "get it". I continued buying their stuff and really liked "Liquid Acrobat". I continued buying their stuff - with a few missing LPs - until their end, and I have nothing but admiration for them.
