I’m SO excited for your kitchen renno! I know this has been a long time coming for you. I’ll live vicariously through your kitchen as I continue to wait in mine. I’ll be taking notes of things you learn along the way. I really appreciate you opening your home to us to follow along on your journey.

Thank you so much for following along. We are trying to do a lot of research on everything before we make decisions. It's a lot of pre-work before the actual work haha.

Hot rag, dry rag is a fantastic tip I learned from The Helpful Home. I think it's a technique as old as time because it works so well for preventing streaks.

My donation center is next door to my grocery store. 5 minutes from my house! So very helpful. I am very thankful!
@shannontorrens1Күн бұрын
That is wonderful! We used to live really close to 3 different donation places and that made the drop-offs so handy.

I love fabric tablecloths (plus an underpad) too! Protects the table & provides coziness. I have several for each of the 4 seasons to rotate. They also serve as “seasonal decor” since I don’t officially decorate anymore except at Christmas.

This one hit home for me. My daughter had 7 living GRANDmothers. All of them gifted her & I was always in her room "arranging". One day I panicked because I could not find her & she was in the middle of all the "stuffies". That was my clue to start a savings account & encourage donations (even if a dollar) I'm near Kathy's age and boy did we get into the acquisition era ! Love this video and do you think you'll be putting the W/D in the new kitchen, maybe at the end of the kitchen ? Nanna Wanda, Charleston SC
@shannontorrens1Күн бұрын
I had a lot of grandparents, too, and my mom did the same thing for me. Opened a savings account for when I turned 18 =) Staying on top of the kid stuff is a weekly routine lol. We have thought about changing the washer/dryer setup over the years, but it would be too costly to try to bring it into the house. Also my husband said it would cause a noise issue since we are on a raised foundation.

I'm using FOCUS as my word as I struggle to stay on task. I bought a whiteboard and now I write down what my daily reset tasks are and tick it off as I go. Helps me stay on task and motivated as I tick my checklist off. Also added zone cleaning, such as living room and do a little at a time, as time allows on the days, for that week. This whiteboard checklist keeps me focused and motivated.

Yes! Please keep doing Utube videos as I only look at instagram maybe once/week. Wanted to share that I went through my four cube bookshelf yesterday which is something I have wanted to do for a long time I was able to remove over 20 books including 7 hardback best sellers to donate to the library! The rest, mostly paperbacks , I will donate to my local and favorite charity/thrift store. I then put all the books left (still at least 40) back in the shelves in alphabetical order! My little library! Decorated with some of my favorite things as well including a colorful storage box (ocean themed/my favorite color, teal, with lid). Some of those books I have had since I lived in IN 10 years ago and was always "going to read". I am so satisfied with this bookshelf! Had been on my to do list for a long time and I am so excited to read all of these books ! (I read and/or listed to 48 in 2024)... Ty for your videos and inspiration Shannon! Hi from SC! Where we still have cold and snow!!!😳🙄☃️❄️🏝️

That's amazing that you were able to donate so many books! You're making a difference! I will still be here on KZbin for sure. =) Instagram is an extra thing that I will share more personal stuff on just in case people are interested. I hope you are having a great day so far and staying warm.

Good morning! I’ve been thinking of you and your proximity to the fires. Were your parents safe? My area on the edge of the IE has no fires, thank goodness, but my sister lives right next to the Chula Vista “Border 2” Fire. I know we get fires but this is insane! 😢

Thank you for all the tips! I strongly agree with your thoughts about a cleaning schedule. I find it stressful too, and needless. For me. Others may feel less anxious with a schedule, I understand. I just clean as I go. One thing I don’t understand about those mopping buckets…how is spreading dirty soapy water around the floor getting it clean? Once I rinse the dirty mop, the water in the bucket is dirty. 🤔

I have my baby teeth and some of my son's. I'm 63. I guess that officially makes me weird 🤪 ETA: I'm fine with that, though. There are worse things in the world to be called.
@shannontorrens1Күн бұрын
haha my mom saved all my baby teeth and my hair LOL. When I say weird I just get grossed out by old teeth and that sort of stuff.
@lindaroyal816121 сағат бұрын
I saved all my daughter's baby teeth when she left them for the tooth fairy. I had a small, round wooden box with a lid, used to leave a tooth for the tooth fairy. Why - because I could never find the loose tooth under the pillow, the box was easy to find. The box is now used to keep all her baby teeth in, it's in my jewelry box. Also... have 2 letters she wrote to the tooth fairy with specific wishes/instructions and to return the rubber band used to hold the letter together, they are hilarious.

@@shannontorrens1 Oh, well, then I won't tell you what other kind of teeth I have saved 🦷🦷🦷
