New to the mushroom world. Haven’t found anything else that showcased such a variety of chanterelle species. Thanks for the informative video!

Cook them and freeze them. They’ll keep in there for 6 months to a year.

Hey Chris, do you ever find craterellus lutescens in your area? Here in Southern Ontario I have some spots where I find lots of them and tubaeformis growing by each other. They're so abundant it's easy to get a few pounds in no time! In Mossy bog areas

Not this far south... Man I hope I can meet up with you later this year, hoping to do the UP Michigan foray in August, would love to experience your areas forests and mushroom species! Do you have areas of "popple", kind of like birch/cottonwood?

You did get your book, etc. right?

@@ChrisMatherly that would be awesome to have you up this way! I did get the book, thanks very much- great job on it too! Got it Friday. And thanks for the DVD as well! The closest I can think of to that kind of area that I know of would be Cottonwood/ Aspen mix, aspen/ white Birch/ cedar mix or yellow/ white Birch mixed with hemlock/ cedar/ spruce. But we might and I just haven't seen it. Would that be a mossy/ boggy type area? There are lots of pretty diverse type areas around here being between lake Huron and Erie. There are also lots of Carolinian forests here. Oak/ Maple/ Beech and spruce/ Pine. Might not be very different from what Michigan would have.

@@joet81 Often logged/clearcut areas naturally grow back with thick (I call them popples) up in N Michigan. I have found huge fruitings of black morels there, sometimes 6-12" diameter trees but also in larger mature woods of this tree species. You can see these on my michigan foray videos. In Minnesota, I have found frequent blacks growing in thick white birch woods. (also a lot of Verpas...) I just thought you may have the same conditions in your location...

@@ChrisMatherly we definitely have lots of trembling Aspen and bigtooth Aspen. A smattering of Balsam Poplar that I know of. To be honest, I don't find many black morels around here and i don't hear of many people finding them here either. That doesn't mean they aren't here though- I just tend to hunt in elm, apple and I also do well near Spruce and Pine. I have Marked out some good spots with lots of poplar- I want to get out to try to find more black morels this year. Can't wait for the season! You found any yet?
