Hey! I absolutely love your videos and they have been so helpful... I have a question though. Do you think that a dot sketchbook would be appropriate for a beginner designer or should I get one without dots? I know it's kind of a silly question but I would really appreciate your help! ❤

Hey, thanks, glad they are useful. As for the sketchbook, I can see how it can be useful for a beginner from the standpoint that you would use it for symmetry when figure sketching. That said, for me personally, I preferred clean pages to allow myself to be as messy & liberated from the gridline system as possible. From the time I was in university, there was a huge emphasis placed upon us learning to draw people from life which then helped with our fashion sketching to become more natural. Instead of straight standing stiff poses we would start drawing something in a more dynamic stance which would give the whole sketch a more organic feel. In short, I think you can start with whatever option you feel comfortable with, so long as 1. it doesn't restrict your creativity; 2. you practice drawing people from life to eventually move into an empty page without any support guidelines.

Hey can I use any kind of sketch book for fashion designing??
@Estooonka3 жыл бұрын
Hey. It is entirely up to you. I usually got for a vertical A3 or A4 sketchbook without spirals. Thicker paper is also something I look for because I like to work with paint but depending on your preferences you can get any kind you like. I would suggest not going below A4 though, cuz otherwise it will constrain your sketches and not give enough room for silhouette exploration.
