Fried egg sandwiches were my go-to every summer as a kid, mainly as it was all I could cook. I’d make one almost every day-a fried egg, mayo, and whatever bread we had in the kitchen. What were yours?

At 1:45 ...I grew up in Texas, now live in Florida...I STILL eat pimento cheese sandwiches!!!! When I was stationed in Hawaii, I was shocked that there was no pimento cheese spread!!!

Hot dog sandwiches were always my favorite leftover, especially when they’d been barbecued the day before. They tasted even better the next day. I also loved 'chip-bologna' sandwiches-bologna, mayo, and a layer of Lay's chips inside. My dad used to make them all the time as a midnight snack.

When I was stationed in Hawaii, Spam was king!!!! A case of Spam was a welcomed wedding gift! And yes, Spam and pineapple is great!

Fried Spam, grilled, in salads or just as is, Spam is king! And if you listen closely, somewhere you can hear Andrew Zimmern screaming.

@@daleupthegrove6396 Haha, you’re right! Spam really is king in all its forms. I’ve been enjoying it for years, and it’s still going strong. And I bet Andrew Zimmern’s reaction would be priceless! Thanks for the chuckle!

Once a year, my daughter has a fluffernutter. I used to make her one for Halloween. She still loves it. Pimento cheese is one og my favorite sandwiches I have a container of it in my fridge. It's most often found at showers and soup and sandwich events.

That’s so cool! I love that your daughter still enjoys her yearly fluffernutter-those traditions stick! Thanks for sharing!

"Forgotten" is a misnomer. Sloppy Joe's are still around. You can still buy Manwich sauce. Egg salad sandwiches are sold in gas stations and grocery stores. I think sub sandwiches are still around, if that's what they serve at SUBway, Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's, Wawa, ad infinitum. I pretty sure nobody has forgotten about GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES. This should have been a top 10 list.
@WayBackAmericana3 ай бұрын
Okay, fair enough! Some of these have stuck around, but not everyone is still reaching for Manwich or egg salad sandwiches at the gas station. Maybe I should’ve called it 'almost forgotten.' Thanks for watching, though!

Never heard about the mayo and pb sandwich. All the rest are, and will always be found in my kitchen.

My mother and father grew up in the "Post-Depression Era." My father's favorite sandwich was "Fried Bologna w/Onions & Ketchup." My Ma's favorite was "Sliced Banana with Peanut Butter & Miracle Whip!" 🤮 Yes, us kids were fairly horrified! 😮

OK ...most of these sandwiches have not vanished...they are still popular...you should have listed sandwiches like the Limburger cheese sandwich, with onion on pumpernickel bread, VERY popular in the 1930's...

Some of these sound downright nasty. Some of the 50s-70s abominations deserve to stay there. Tenderloins rule though. Also, sub sandwiches are everywhere still.

Sorry you feel that way! Definitely not AI generated-just having some fun with nostalgia. I get that grilled cheese isn’t exactly obscure, but the title was meant to spark a little curiosity. Appreciate you watching, even if it wasn’t your thing!
