Hi, this might be a very random question, but I'm wondering what 'ma gueule' means? The translation in English is mouth, but I've heard it some times and it's not used like that. Could it also mean something like mec? Merci
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane 4 жыл бұрын
That's a really good question. Gueule is used to talk about a dog's mouth, a cat's mouth, etc. So generally for animals as we don't use Bouche for them. The second way you can use it is to talk about someone's face, not to mean ugly or anything, just a very casual way to talk, kinda vulgar. The third way would be to talk about someone who has really strong features in his face. The last one and most common way to use it is to say Ferme ta G/ I can't really write it here but you get the idea, let's say it's the other way to say Ferme ta bouche. Does it make more sense?

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane yes, thanks. But in the case it means 'shut your mouth', it would be 'ta gueule' right? That's why I was curious about the meaning 'ma gueule'. Apparently it also means this: Expression typiquement masculine vers le masculin pour signifier, toi. J'ai ecouté cette expression dans la chanson 'Bienvenue a La Banane' de Moha La Squale, il dit : "La Squale vient d'la Banane, j't'ai dit ma gueule, j'viens d'la Banane Ma gueule bienvenue à la Banane"

Alright I checked out the lyrics and it's not really "good" French in this video, it's a very street language but if it works for you to learn why not. So he does call someone Ma gueule, another common one would be Ma couille. It doesn't sound affectionate but it actually is, I am sure there are other ones of the same kinds out there.

Bonjour, Pour ne pas trop confondre les anglophones, il aurait été préférable d'écrire "The banana is ripe" plutôt que "ripped" (puisque "ripped" signifie "déchiré").

Great, but a couple small notes: Anchor - the ch is pronounced like a k. mûr = ripe. Ripped is something that has been torn, or in slang someone with a lot of muscles. Short a vs long a is a distinction lost in most of France now, no?

Thanks! I am surprised that nobody pointed that already. No you still need to pronounce it differently, they are 2 different sounds. If you want I have a free pronunciation courses coming up December 1st on this channel :)
