I need your opinion. Stick with the biotope or convert it to a planted aquarium down the road? Also, stick with the rummy-nose or swap them for a small school of corydoras?
@mev49685 жыл бұрын
I'm all for that planted aquarium ver of the tank. And I think you should get corydoras, only if, you go through with the planted tank idea. But rummy noses and corydoras might get along, so I don't see a need to replace one for another. That's just up to personal decisions based with good research tbh. I would support any decision you choose tho.
@SGBeardedAquarist5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input Mev 😁 The reason its either/or for me is more about bioload. I feel its already heavy and adding a school of corydoras would be pushing it. So if I stick w the blackwater biotope, you feel sticking w the rummy noses are a better choice?
@mev49685 жыл бұрын
@@SGBeardedAquarist Yep! I support that choice because you've taken care of rummy-nose tetras, and because you've mentioned how well suited the biotope is for this species. Can't wait to see future updates! Good luck!

Bio tope looks good, it's something unique many people dont have this kind of aquarium , so I think you should stick with this kind. More over , as far as the stocking is concerned I think you can keep both with adequate filtration

Trim some of the roots? Yeah you can. Just dont trim all of them off or you might kill the plant. And i totally agree their roots give such an awesome effect

Hello! I just met your channel! This image you used to describe the Rio Negro is wrong. On the map you can see Rio Negro in Argentina, a cold river in the region of Patagonia, without tannin and without black water! The Rio Negro that you show in the photographs are the amazonian, that is born in Colombia and will join the Rio Solimões in Manaus to turn the Amazon River. The Rio Negro in Argentina is approximately 3,600 km from the Rio Negro in northern Brazil! In addition, excellent content, hug from Brazil!

Nice! Can you run through how you set it up, the equipments used, etc? Especially on how u achieve the black water effect and maintaining it. Thanks, man!
@SGBeardedAquarist5 жыл бұрын
Might do a video on that. Very quickly tho, slow method: place lots of drifteood and indian almond leaves into the tank. They'll take awhile to sink and they'll slowly release tannis. Alternatively, boil everything and put them in. They'll sink much faster and u can pour (some) of the water you used to boil into the aquarium. They'll instantly give u the blackwater visual effect (not necessarily water parameters).

Excellent video, but there is a mistake with the map. It doesn´t belong to the brazilian Rio Negro river, but the argentinian one. Small flaw for an amazing video that is a reference even for us, south american aquarists. Greeting from Argentina.
