To date, this is the most comprehensive outline on the improvements made within Hype Performance Group's H145 Airbus Helicopter. Bug fixes, tweaks, and new features. Timestamps to follow. This is rough and uncut, but I wanted to get it out there asap.
A couple of corrections. (I prefer to walk through things naturally, but these inevitably creep in). The Follow Up trim is a way to allow you to fly the aircraft without having to apply trim release - but it will need you to have a decent amount of sensitivity in your flight controls. Essentially, the follow yp trim registers when you are hovering or cruising and allows a period to suspend the afcs autotrim before cutting in again.
I also cite low terrain alert incorrectly - in most aircraft I habe flown, this is TOO LOW TERRAIN PULL UP....it was a long night- but I am sure many of us are familiar with the piercing warning!
Enjoy.
Further details
Some of these changes have been incremental and have been added in previous beta updates, available through the Hype Operations Centre - but have now been refined and tested. Others are new.
is it worth this price? Only you can answer thsa. My personal view is that if you were to purchase this, you should purchase both the Base and the Action Pack - as one is at a loss without the other and the Action Pack provides so many more options for missions. whilst the concept of missions might feel a little 'gamey'to the purist, in reality they push your skills and provide a novel way of exploring sceneries.
If I were to rate this aircraft on its ease of use but its complexity if you want to learn more - especially about flight preparation, navigation, and digital systems, the H145 is an absolute must. The flight model, and the need for users to operate the Trim Release in order to prevent the autopilot from fighting pilot inputs - a feature Hype claim separates the H145 from any other heli in the sim (at the time of posting). The fixes to the mission app are significant, although there is still work to be done on the difference between the helipads and minor airports shown on the mission map, and what MSFS sees. (You can identify a helipad on the mission map, but without changes within MSFS 2020, it is impossible to locate yourself in this position unless you are airborne and without any power). I show how this is possible, but it is convoluted. It is also possible to move yourself I suspect using the Developer Mode settings, but this is not a user-friendly experience.
Changes to the additional details on the tngets flight displays are excellent and welcome, as is the low terrain warning system, with an audio alert. Finally, the sounds have improved on the H145 - not necessarily shifting in balance with position, but now with much more subtlety.c
This product gets five stars from me - with the proviso (that will nonetheless appeal to many), that you are buying something that will always be in development, because HPG have focused on not just developing the aircraft but encouraging a partnership with its community.
When compared say to the excellent fixed wing A320 study aircraft by Fenix, there are obvious differences between the level of questions and engagement within Discord, and the focus on identifying bugs and improving aspects of the aircraft in line with the options that MSFS are giving developers. More generally, whilst the development path for MSFS itself is clear - with a roadmap, and regular updates - I am not seeing the same depth of mutuality within the MSFS community generally. It would appear that no one is quite doing it like Hype is doing it at the moment.
Hype Performance Group have now increased the price of the H145 Base Pack to $50 from $42.99, and the Action Pack remains at $35 dollars - although prices remain at the lower level - the sale (or early release price) ends on Sunday 21st May - to quote the Hype facebook page.
