I also feel it’s much easier to care for my brown, beige, cream, gray vs black and white which can fade and feel dingy

Yes to this whole unlikely combinations and dressing down! I used to shun skirts and dresses too but since knowing I could pair them with tees, shorts, sneakers to tone down the formality and look more everyday, I've been enjoying my dressing/wardrobe more.

This was so well put together, I’m obsessed with how you kept all your example outfits to only the 20 pieces. What software/program did you use to do that? I kind of want to do something similar to plan a capsule. Would be nice to see everything together
@majbrittkjaer61347 ай бұрын
Unless you wash every second day, you would not have enough outfit options. Biggest problem with capsule wardrobes, you need to wash your tops, especially tshirts and tanktops soo often, that they will wear out within a few monts. you should have at least 3-4 tops per bottom, otherwise not enough options realistically.

Although I love black, I feel it is problematic and don't understand minimalists would have a lot of black pieces. Black seems to fade so quickly that even if it's still wearable, people end up replacing black items before other colors.
@byShannon6 ай бұрын
That's a good point, I guess with my black pieces or even my white pieces I take extra care. Ensuring I wash on a cold setting and keeping them seperate to other colours. I also purchased a black in-wash dye from my local grocery store that you can put in the wash with the clothes and it makes them very black again, its amazing!
@sadel215 ай бұрын
I like the minimalist style but black is not my best color. I go with navy or charcoal gray as a neutral. I keep the odd black piece for the bottoms. Minimalism in style does not need to be restricted by color; it mostly has to do with cut and styling.

Get two washing baskets or hampers one for dark colour and one that's light or white you are better off having more than two really for delicate items that need to go in on a wool or delicate wash and they also need splitting into light and dark whites should really only go in with whites and please don't put your clothes in with towels because they're the same colour it destroys the fibres in your clothes hope this helps ❤

You bought a new wardrobe just because you got bored with what you had? I waited until I had gradually lost 50 lbs., from aging, I suppose, and realized the weight wasn’t coming back. It was sad to part with so many beautiful items that I loved. Admittedly, buying a new wardrobe was fun, but it was really necessary, nothing I had would stay on me, they literally slid off.
@byShannon8 ай бұрын
Hey Kimberly, I had to come up with a catchy title haha. I didn’t actually start my wardrobe all over again, I was just listing what I hypothetically would start with if I had to. Hope your new wardrobe is just as lovely as your last one Xx

How on earth is $50 for a t-shirt affordable?!
@byShannon7 ай бұрын
I'm willing to pay $50 for a tshirt if it is better quality material. Where are you from? $50 in Australia is much cheaper than $50 in US.
@Plug85877 ай бұрын
I was just about to say the same thing, $50 here in Australia is more on the affordable side if u want a shirt that isn’t rubbish
@duchess_of_petty93236 ай бұрын
That’s like $33 usd. Which seems about right. Thats what they are from jcrew.
@katiecrowley885 ай бұрын
It’s definitely subjective. $50 on a tshirt would be a massive splurge for me. I love the tshirts from Uniqlo for $19.90 :)
