Man, I am always blown away by how much you teach us. “I’m not a good student, but I am a good learner.” Those were great words, Gabe. I’ve felt the same way my entire life, and almost everything I know has been learned on my own, through books, through experience, and of course, through inspiring people like Gabe. Thank you for teaching me more about the real world than a formal education ever could. You are changing lives, Gabe. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and your journey, with all of us here.

"It's your fault if you die poor." That's true for a huge amount of people, but I'm sorry, it's not universally true, and it's the rationale for a lot of inhumane public policy. Gabe, I'm a big fan (and was literally here thinking, "What can I do to help this guy get that Tesla?!"), but this one is bothering me.
@ephesianslicenseplate74212 жыл бұрын
There is this thing called the working poor. How is it when people work hard and good people have bad things happen to them can you say it’s there fault? Think it through because most people are financially struggling right now and are looking to You for real solutions.
@MyFocusVaries2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Some people have so many strikes against them that it's impossible to get out of the cycle. Class systems, systemic racial prejudices, etc. can't be wiped away with a blanket statement. People can cite individual cases of people who have broken the cycle, but each of those cases will have some exception--a mentor, a Boys and Girls Club, a United Way program, etc that helped them out.
@gymsanctuary40202 жыл бұрын
@@MyFocusVaries I think the biggest thing people need is self care. And they need interdependence. Not everyone has a family to count on or an upbringing with privilege. Working hard can change someone’s life with the emotional strength and loving community to thrive.

Is it really my fault if I'm born in Sudan and have to work in the cobalt mines 15 hrs a day at 11 years old to ensure I can pay for my sick mother's treatment and end up just growing up poor? The whole "pull yourself up by your bootstraps mentality" is insensitive and naive, neglecting material conditions entirely. Poverty is an artificial construct in a world with vast abundance, and these asinine maxims only serve to turn attention away from the very system that ensures poverty exists: capitalism.

As much as I like your advice, I have to say, it is a very 'first world' point of view. I live in Cambodia and most people barely make enough with two or three jobs to survive and quitting and up the pay from the job is just not an option, certainly not if you have family.

I would really be interested in your thoughts and ideas on how to get started in the real estate world or investing in general after bankruptcy. Tough times last couple of years ended up with having to file, but now it’s been over a year since it was final. I just don’t know how to get started again. Wow. The deeper I get into this video the more tone deaf it’s coming across. I grew up in the inner city of Detroit. Th education system was beyond terrible, there really was nothing there but burnt down buildings. So many kids barely have parents that raise them. The violence was unbelievable. Shootings were commonplace. A schoolmate who lived next door to me was shot and killed at 14 years old. So was a young girl of 12 right across the street. I was fortunate enough to get out. But so many people due to circumstance and extreme disadvantages will never be able to get out. You have no idea what goes on way below the poverty line and just what people will do to survive. You were fortunate enough to be born in a position to be where you are. Don’t get me wrong, you earned it and deserve it. But the condensation of this is just beyond belief.

i also felt that one point that it's one's fault to die poor is inaccurate and comes from robert's privileged life.........as a person from a corrupt poor 3rd world, it is so much harder to get out of poverty than someone from the US and other developed countries. employment or money-making opportunities are fewer here. also, people with disabilities and health problems don't have the same abilities as others

"Winners and losers have the exact same goals, it's the actions that make a difference." I'm happy for you that you've made a few great decisions that were well-timed for the real estate market in your area, and it's clear that frugality is a piece of that recipe. But you will not always be able to control every element, and you WILL experience tragedy, catastrophe that is outside your control, loss....and you may not stay financially rich or even solvent as a result. Come back when you're 50 and tell us how it went.

Try growing up with an absent mother and a drug addicted father in the poorest city in America and see how far you get. No means to education, no transportation, not even KNOWING what your needs are because you have never even been taught that you are entitled to be treated as human. You didn’t have to struggle in a world full of mental iillness and drug addiction, not knowing a better way out. I guarantee with (your) money that you wouldn’t be here. In fact I know it. The fact that you were even able to live with 2 parents while you saved up is unheard of where I come from.

Sorry, but this oozes capitalist diatribe. There MUST be a majority of people in the Employee quadrant, for example. SO your advice is to what, work hard to make it big so you don't have to worry about the majority of people? That's not just evil, its bad advise, meant only for people who are luck enough to have that leg up needed to break free from the worker class. idk it just seems tone def and not truly actionable. I am editing to say, I don't dislike your content, and think you have a lot of talent and good things to say.
