Even after 50 years of Police work, mostly US, it is a treat to listen to a story from an Author who knows enough about foreign police work and it’s quirks to be able to tell a coherent and thoroughly enjoyable story. Added to that is the BBC’s usual fine efforts of production and presentation… Full marks to all concerned.Well done.

Maigret's idea of how millionaires behave and speak seems to be an amalgam of Proust and Noel Coward ( minus the wit of both . )

I just imagine being able to have a handful or just a half a handful. They wouldn't go amiss. Just one with a cup of tea, sit in the garden, and have a staycation.

Try my favourite : equal.measures of Night Nurse and Whisky. Very effective....
