Nice to have a platform a the top of the ladder when I joined you were at the top of the ladder and when you opened that monitor the jet reaction threw you backwards flexing the whole ladder, talk about tense times. ( thank goodness we were always hooked on.)

Will they need high-pressure pumps to get water to the monitor at full extension? At 200ft that's a lot of gravity to fight against!

I beleive they already have them installed on the opposite side of the turntable to the operators seating position it's a hydraulic pump and generator

Well, it's just 6 and a half bar of pressure difference from ground level, not something impossible for common firefighting truck. Here in Italy the standard pressure unit on trucks can get to 18 bar, thus they would deliver at least 11 bar at that height, more than enough

I've always wondered why ladder trucks outside of the U.S. and Canada are so much "leaner" in their design. In North America, trucks have compartments loaded with equipment from front to back.
@AJ-dv7hf
@AJ-dv7hf 3 жыл бұрын
Could be wrong, but based on observation North American “ladders” tend to carry ventilation and extrication gear whereas urban Pumpers in Australia, for example, tend to carry that gear, if that helps.

In the UK Aerial Appliance are classed as Specials, that is they are only used for Rescues/Water Towers. This 64m TL weighs in at 34 tonnes as it is without any equipment. There are Combined Pumps/Aerial Appliances in the UK but they do not perform very well.

OK, so they may have platforms, but I'm so glad that LFB stick to TLs. Gives a sense of tradition somehow whilst being slap-bang up-to-date. Others may disagree, but I think these appliances are magnificent!

Did they demonstrate the ladder fully extended because you cut off filming at 3:34? (Also it's 64 metre not meter. A meter is what measures gas.)

Wow, nice tower truck, how many feet is that rated for ? Looks like more than 100ft plus some. Most aerial, tower trucks are rated from 95ft to 125ft. I think in europe the BRONTO skylights are 150 ft. Beautiful trucks, until you actually drive and operate one, you can't really appreciate them operating. I was lucky enough to do both being a retired professional firefighter. Well done video.

@@garysimpson463 Yes and what worries me a bit is those small extension feets ... They could have been made longer and more sturdy ... High wind that suddenly come may get it to turn over especially at full extended and if angle a bit low .. Im no doubt that it can do the job ... It is well just as you say , wind , that worries me a little . ( many cranes at those hights have much longer extension feets and also weight balancing , yes they carry bigger load but still wind , well blow )

Come on LFB you need to get ladders that carry water as well. These are great additions don’t get me wrong. However you need to have a CAPA like we do in Queensland Australia that is also capable of carrying some water to the scene.
@dcentral
@dcentral 3 жыл бұрын
There is always a trade off with what one platform can do. You can’t have a sufficient water-tender and a 200’ ladder all in one. If water is needed, they can simply dispatch ladder trucks with water tenders.

@anakinskywalker4113
@anakinskywalker4113 3 жыл бұрын
@@dcentral they should always dispatch a pumping appliance with the ladder without question. However usually in Australia the ladders carry a small amount of water on board & they have a massive pump to help boost pressure. Not sure what the LFB does in that regard.

Interesting.but to recreate a realistic scene there would have to be parked cars, suspended cables, smoke sticks on each floor and possibly screaming people, not to mention all hydrants in operation. it’s like inviting a hot chick and offering her a valeriana tea instead of prosecco then sleeping in separate rooms
