The Nike Invicible 3 is a max cushioned training shoe with a soft and bouncy feel. Since its the initial Invincible's release a few years aho, a slate of new shoes with beefed up tech like taller stack heights, dual-foam midsoles and carbon fiber plates has hit the market (Asics Superblast, and most recently the Hoka Skyward X and On Cloudmonster Hyper). In this video, I take the Invincible 3 out for a 20 mile double run day and give my thoughts on how it stacks up to its competitors.

I’m happy you don’t trim your videos to be less than ten minutes bc I like the long format, it feels more like a conversation. Keep doing you brother ⚡️⚡️❤️

I have to agree with the results you got from the Invincible 3, when I go through easy recovery in them I feel like they suck the life out of me and make me want to quit. I do like them for steady miles but I don't think I'll ever grab them again on an easy easy day.

just picked up some Invincible 3's, was going to return after 1st put on in house but they have kind of grown on me, i try to stick to 6mm drop after a while in Saucony speeds and triumphs at 8 and 10mm which I believe caused knee issues, These i3's have the obvious drop as you say but also on 1st try seem to have a disconnect between heal and forefoot, almost felt like it was missing. I will hang onto them as price was good in Nike sale and see how they enter the ever-growing rotation. Nice to see another nations food supplies although Bagels are also popular here in UK, not a fan myself, ultra-processed over here so not great and better forms of carbs without the stodge. Loving the content.

I tried the original Invicibles and didn't like them too much. I bottom out sometimes in very cushy shoes, and although the toebox looks wide, Nike tends to have cramped toe boxes for me. Is this one roomier.? I admit I am biased against Nike for some of their past transgressions, but I do have their Pegasus Trail 4 Goretex. I wonder if the Invincible would be good for 12-hour shifts in the ER. I applaud you on the gains you have made in the past two years.

My pair of Invincible 3 at near 100 miles ran and bought at Black Friday is starting to unglued part of the upper on my left shoes at the toebox. The upper is very comfortable but still not the best quality of connecting it to the middlesole like other shoes from Nike that I had no problem like this : Pegasus 40, Structure 25, Infinity Run 4 or the Vomero 17. At least I did not pay full price for the Invincible.

How many miles on the Invincible's now? I just crested 200 on mine at a local 10k race this past Saturday. They still feel great, though there was some wet spots from a light rain overnight on road paint and the grip on that was absolutely terrible. Again about 70ish miles to break the upper in and have not had heel slip since. I was not wanting or looking to run fast which is part of why I wore them to help slow me down. I am curious about what you mentioned about socks, never heard anyone talk about that before. The OS1st brand actually has socks in Wide which I've never seen, nor heard of. I'm kinda curious about that considering I wear Extra Wide in the Invincible 3.

On paper you think it would be Nike’s answer to the nimbus line or the more fresh foam x line but it’s not. I bought it to replace my worn out fresh form x and to have something alittle squishier than my nimbus 26. When I got it I was disappointed not bc it wasn’t an amazing shoes but more so bc it’s not a max cushion shoe (for me). All the cushioning is in the heel and barely anything in forefoot/midfoot. Now when you are running, it’s fine bc the heel compresses and it’s a smooth ride and transition but i wish there was more cushion under the midfoot. It feels more like a built up nb rebel v4 imo. And the drop makes it feels awkward when walking. Still super comfortable but something that you notice as you walk bc you go from super squishy foam to nothing as you transit to the midfoot and beyond. So yes, buy it if you want a more plush Rebel v4 but it’s not the max cushion shoe that I bought it thinking it was going to be. After having it, it made me appreciate my nimbus 26 more as what a max cushion all around protective shoes is supposed to feel like. I wear the invincible in my rotation between the nimbus and rebel 4.
@supwell
@supwell 2 ай бұрын
That's a great analysis. I'm curious to try the infinity rn 4 now - that seems more in line with the 1080 and nimbus. Also curious tot see how the new balance Balos compares to this
@DJjayenvy
@DJjayenvy 2 ай бұрын
Agreed! The balos will be interesting. I think it’s going to sit between the 1080 and the rebel. What I’m really looking forward to is the more fresh foam x v5! That looks like the ultimate max stack nimbus 26 competitor for me.

Have you considered that the Invincible and Superblast have a lot of similarities but are different in the way that the brands have executed the shoes? The way you describe your increasing enjoyment of the Invincible and it’s one note nature reminds me a lot of how people talk about the Superblast and maybe both are really set up for similar objectives
@supwell
@supwell 2 ай бұрын
So funny you said that... I just finished running in the superblast this morning and said the same "one note" comment in my wrap up 🤯 i think you are spot on - we don't think of them as direct competitors but they are pretty similar
@crzyscorp
@crzyscorp 2 ай бұрын
@@supwelldo you mind comparing the bounce feeling you get in the invincible to the ASICS meringue? I’m starting to look for something to replace the superblast in my rotation for crushing higher aerobic miles in that one note kind of way - a little disappointed with the mach 6 for those 9-12 mi runs where I’m not pushing into tempo/MP+20 sec pace
@supwell
@supwell 2 ай бұрын
For sure - invincible is a lot softer and I get a little more sink into the foam vs superblast. Superblast always feels like I'm riding on top/not compressing it a ton. Invincible 3 is more comfortable overall Btw, what's the disappointment with the Mach 6 in particular?
@crzyscorp
@crzyscorp 2 ай бұрын
@@supwell Thank you that makes sense! So as a little background I’m currently building up mileage training around 60 mpw over 6 sessions (hopefully hitting closer to 65 in the next few weeks). The Mach 6 is a newer pick up (71 mi on the pair so far) I really do enjoy them for faster days and even long runs with some quality thrown in (longest 16 mi) but at easier paces they feel a little odd (maybe less bounce or not supportive enough?) in the last few miles where something a little more built out might suit me better at least when my legs are beat up. I was hoping for a workhorse for every single run from track day to long workouts but I think what a good work around is something like a “one note” superblast for aerobic miles between harder efforts with the Mach 6 (or something more aggressive on a track like a Takumi sen). I don’t really do recovery runs outside of right after races or I take a day off so no real current need for a true recovery shoe
@supwell
@supwell 2 ай бұрын
@@crzyscorp ahh okay yeah i feel that. on those medium/longer runs in the mach 6 they still have the pep without the benefit of a ton of cushion and stability. that was something i felt in the mach 5 too - unless i was fast finishing a 90+ minute run i would've preferred more stability and stack. i actually think the cloudmonster hyper might be exactly what you're looking for. it's a true workhorse with the firmer foam and built-up outsole plus PEBA, decently lightweight that has done great for every type of run i've thrown at it so far. stay tuned for more on that one soon - i'm planning to get a double day and/or long run in it within the next week

Are these stability shoes?
@supwell
@supwell 2 ай бұрын
No unfortunately they are not designed for stability. If you want a similar soft feeling but with more stability, I'd check out the Nike Vomero 17. It has the same ZoomX foam on the top but a firmer foam on the bottom and a more rigid/higher heel for stability. Also the zoom structure 25 is Nike's true stability shoe, but I haven't tried that one yet. It's supposed to be much firmer than this

Hello, I have been watching your videos on Max Cushion Shoes and the more I watch them, the more confusing your opinion on various shoes become. Therefore, may I request you to advise which shoe would be the best for 5 Miles Brisk walking everyday ? I am confused between Invincible 3, 1080 V13 and Gel Nimbus 25. My priority is cushioning ( protection of knees and feet from impacts in particular). I had almost finalised on Invincible V13 but then watched your video stating that Invincible 3 is not sufficiently stacked up on the front end of the shoe. Also considered Brooks Ghost Max as recommended by you in one of your videos for walking but when I saw your full review, you said it is on the firmer side. Please recommend your pick for the aforesaid purpose. Thank you .

Brooks ghost max is my favorite walking shoe! It was on the firmer side for running when compared to other max cushion shoes like the 1080v13, Invincible and Gel Nimbus. The Ghost Max has the perfect amount of cushion and softness for walking without being too squishy - the softer shoes I like for running but aren't my favorite for walking

Hey, I am "new" to running and just discovered your channel. My current shoes are old Kinvara 6s 🥲 and I am looking for a new pair. Could you give some advice? I am 90 kg heavy and very slow currently. Do you have any suggestion for shoes that are soft and bouncy/fun while not compromising too much stability? I am a mid/forefoot runner and want to give my achilles tendon and ligaments some time to adjust to the stress, I can feel them for days after running currently. The invincible seem to fall in that category I guess, but they are quite pricy.
@supwell
@supwell 2 ай бұрын
If you like the lower profile feel of the Kinvara, the new balance rebel v4 is like an updated version of that with more cushion but also that lightweight bouncy feel and great stability from a wide base. It's $140 USD so a lot more affordable than invincible. The invincible isn't the best for stability but is definitely soft and bouncy - another alternative that's more cushioned than the rebel is the adidas supernova rise. Super comfortable shoe with great stability and a soft bouncy feel. Also $140 USD
@blackjack6406
@blackjack6406 2 ай бұрын
@@supwell I am not looking into lower profile, kinvara 6 was just what I had from like a decade ago when I was alot lighter and mights aswell run in my vans in terms of softness now haha. I just want something fun and that isn't hard on my ligaments/achilles till I have adapted. I don't necessarily struggle with pronation. Basicly a neutral to slightly stable shoe that absorbs shocks and bounces. Superblasts without the price tag haha 🥲
