I can’t thank you enough for this video! I have been desperate for an app to offer this kind of functionality which could be used right at the trackside without a dedicated computer setup. Why AIM themselves haven’t done it is baffling to me.

Thanks James. This looks great and a very good at track alternative to the AiM software. Your tutorials on that and how do deal with lots of traffic in analyzing laps were great as well. I'll be buying this app since my dad, my daughter and I all race together in Lucky Dog and it will help us a lot for the two of them who are very green to compare what I do on track.

Hi James. I have tried the free app and it looks promising. The disappointing aspect was the trace/track of the vehicle is not very smooth. Yours in this video is very smooth. I'm in Australia so our Satellite coverage may not be as good. However, the same session in Race Studio is much smoother.
@JamesColborn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian. Not sure I know the answer to this one I'm afraid as this is a default setting you get from the app. Is it the same with all sessions or just one or two? Also recommend making sure your AiM device has the very latest firware as the products are improved after each update. if at all helpful, this is a quick video on firmware updates. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJeyhHeZi6tgoNU

James, any thoughts on how the ultimate lap is determined? Is the ultimate lap theoretical or based on other combined segments I have put it? Or is it based on laps other people have put in? If you have any sway with the developers, could you ask them to create something similar to what you show in your "heavy traffic" comparison training video where you can create custom segments of best portions of laps to compare just those as a way to account for traffic.
@JamesColborn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Len. From what the developers have told me, the segments are created by the app (vs. using other people's data etc.) so, you'll always be getting your ultimate lap time from those sectors in the session (and it's only ever from the session you are in). For the heavy traffic, with the 3 or so sectors, you could see what your lap would be but I would recommend Race Studio Analysis for this as you'll need to compare many laps though. I will share this feedback with the developer for sure.

@JamesColborn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gil. I had multiple sessions on my app when it was the free version, however, I could only open and access my last downloaded file. I'd try downloading a second and see if your original sessions are then made inaccessible. Thanks for the kind words on the video.

Hi James. Sorry to always bother you, if you notice I always ask questions 😅 I want to know if the sessions can be restored back to the aim device, I always delete the data from device after importing them to pc. I found Lapsnap cannot see the sessions since I’ve deleted them manually 😀
@JamesColborn2 жыл бұрын
Hi! No problem at all with the questions. I don't think there is a way of getting them off the LapSnap app and back onto the device. Ideally, you would keep the session on your AiM device for download later on RS3 for further and more detailed analysis. I wouldn't recommend to anyone just using LapSnap as their only analysis tool. The device has enough memory for about a race season's worth of sessions so space shouldn't be an issue needing you to delete the session after every use. Hope this helps.

@@JamesColborn you’re right, lapsnap is for my on the go trackside study. Most of the detailed study I do in race studio analysis. I should have not deleted the sessions on my device, now I have to wait for a month or so to get back to the track 😄

hi James trying to get my head round this app as well as the rs3. is there some where in the app both this and rs3 where i can record my setup of the car ie tyre pressures camber shock clicks and so on
@JamesColborn3 жыл бұрын
Hi Kev. On the LapSnap App you don't have much but you can add some details on 'vehicle setup' though it's limited (for example, I use mine to just determine what car I was driving). On RS3, when you download from any device you have a notes section and you can write all sorts of info in there about conditions, setup etc. Hope this helps!

Hello James, I can’t seem to get this app on my (iOS IPhone 11 Pro Max)to connect to my Solo2 that I just purchased. The Solo2 says PC Connection when this app is attempting to connect. But after a bit the app says try again. I’ve reset my phone and tried nearly everything to try to get a solid connection. Any advice or is there something that I’m missing ? Thank you .

Hi! I have this issue also and I think it's something that the developers are working on. Hi Kelly, just slide the session to the right (or it might be left) and you can delete an session to create room for a new file. This is the best way with the free version. Hope this works for you.

I loaded my best lap with my daughter's best lap. Same car, same AiM. But the track location doesn't seem to be synced. It shows me going off track probably half a dozen times which didn't happen. This makes it hard for me to coach her on turn in points. I know if your AiM RaceStudio training you talked about syncing the GPS. The problem is, LapSnap pulls from the AiM rather than from RaceStudio. Any thoughts on how to fix this so the gps location data more closely matches the actual?
@JamesColborn2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like an odd suggestion but try just turning off the app and having another try and or loading the sessions in a different order (for example, yours first then your daughters or vice versa). If it persists, I’ll connect you with the developer as I have also seen this on occasion.
@lenwhite99012 жыл бұрын
@@JamesColborn I chatted with Daniel about it and his response was "GPS technology is not 100% accurate. Most GPS receivers have an accuracy of several feet. So you may see a shift of lap coordinates from time to time. In addition Google Maps (which we use for the app or any other maps for that matter) might be slightly shifted as well as the images are not 100% at their coordinates." Seems odd that the same car with the same AiM mounted in the same location would be off by about 2 car widths. Even with this quirk, this thing is well worth the paid subscription because I can do the side by side with my daughter and show her where I'm lifting, braking and accelerating and show her the impact on minimum corner speed and how that carries more speed down the track. It will help my coaching her. this is the next best thing to having her in the car with me. Now I just need to figure out how to overlay my AiM data on my video so she can see in car footage of my line with the track overlay showing driver inputs. (you don't happen to have a training about how to do that do you?) On another subject you mentioned in your training about comparing other people's laps. Do you know if there is a way for me to show you our laps to see if you see the same thing on the GPS? I have a screen grab, but don't know how to post it here. Also, how do I go in and look at other laps that are loaded by other people to compare with them? I'd love to look at other people's laps who actually know how to wheel a Miata around PIR. Thanks for all of your help.

@@lenwhite9901 Hey, I can chime in here regarding other people's data. If you go to the leaderboard of the particular track, you can see all of the shared data. (Users can choose not to share it.) From there you can view their lap and compare it to your lap on the same track.
@lenwhite99012 жыл бұрын
@@donesnowangel Thanks, As far as I can tell there aren't any other laps on the leaderboard, but my guess is that's because this app is so new. I posted a promo for it on my facebook page for my car so hopefully next year there will be more. How do I make sure mine is public? I don't really see any way to share.

The best lap for a specific track is shared automatically, unless you turn sharing off in you Profile settings.
