Datapacks in general are so underrated. Minecraft commands offer pretty simple tools, but like they were saying in Minecraft live, you give people in the community the smallest tool and they'll push it to its creative limits. Awesome video, TheDerpyWhale!

I personally think that datapacks are criminally underrated and underused and under appreciated They really show how much you can do with just the vanilla game code and I find it really cool! Terralith is a great example for this

You can recreate the ceiling spiders in vanilla: Step 1: Build room Step 2: Summon Spider Step 3: Name it Dinnerbone or Grumm with a nametag Step 4: Give them levitation

That's what I was thinking, and then the button not only turns on the lights but also renames the spiders and removes their levitation. Still super cool though.

Kinda…. But datapacks are much more efficent because they dont need block entitys (command blocks). In datapacks you can also run commands after each other but in the same tick Chain Commandblocks only work tick by tick

1:40 this is actually extremely easy to build using commands and you can add the custom items using optifine and an item name-specific texture pack. For the commands, it is just filling a specified area around the player when they hold a specific item with a specific name.
