To clarify! Minecraft Mods are amazing, people just heavily underestimate the power that datapacks have these days!
In this video I show off 30 datapack, command and general creations made by the minecraft community! From entire games being recreated with commands, to some pretty cool update features added into Minecraft 1.20 snapshots, and even a few funny datapacks and memes laong the way!

Suspicious sand is real, but he made so he can put his own item inside of the sand

the suspicious sand is real and official but he made it so you can put items in normal sand to make it suspicious sand containing the item you dropped.

datapacks will never put mods to shame lol, they are just bound to so much, and the bossfight you say seems mojang added is all but looking made by mojang, with all that clunky movement and high usage of sparkle particles since they cant do custom textures / better effects, and for how much i appriciate this kind of content you can never say they are better then mods, its just not, the torch you say could not be done better, works only because shaders are making it look cool and is very lagging looking, you could do much better.

I personally think From The Fog should at least have an honorable mention, it took that lingering feeling of being watched and made that a reality, it's also getting updates where the people watching you can walk behind trees and disappear, place signs, turn your torches into redstone pr just destroy them altogether and so much more.

from the fog looks amazing. i haven't tried it out yet, but i watched someone play with it. it feels so natural with the lore of herobrine. i personally would prefer the standard skin (which looks to be configurable) but oh my god it looks fun. it seems fun to add some extra things to make it slightly spookier.

You should check out the Bracken pack. Adds a ton of content and dimensions to the game!
