My recent take is that the future is unmanifested. That's I believe the same as what you said Eckhart. The future we think of being manifested, like a plan for what to do next week, that's thoughts in the now! And not the actual future.
@mindsigh4
@mindsigh4 Жыл бұрын
right, & also when we think of a person, have an image of them or recall their voice, that's not really the person, that's only a facsimile or representation we've created in our imaginations. Edit: tho it seems the energy of another is able to be with us.
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
I don't know. At one level that's absolutely true. But, if I conclude that tooth-decay (pain & expense) is just thoughts in the now, why brush my teeth... I really will have pain & expense sooner rather than later. This stuff seems like what we know about reality (quantum mechanics governing the small stuff, and general relatively govering the big stuff). Everything's undetermined at the small level. Your take is the only truth in that realm. We're _made_ of that small (unobserved, indeterminate) stuff. But, we're not intedeterminate. We don't observe the future until it's now. That's kind of similar as the rules governing the small stuff. But, there really are things in the now that will affect the future (if we don't take it seriously). It's puzzling?
@Anders01
@Anders01 Жыл бұрын
@@markfuller To me it's still a bit puzzling. Because planning for the future seems like something necessary, yet at the same time I think that the future is completely determined! There is a curious statement in the Tao Te Ching about how the master does nothing yet leaves nothings undone, while the ordinary person is always doing things and leaves many things undone.
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
@@Anders01 _"at the same time I think that the future is completely determined!"_ You could be right. Physicists increasingly theorize it's that way. We're like wind-up dolls actng out what's already been programmed for us to act out. We just tell ourselves that we can choose to act out one way or another, but even that was part of the mechanics built into this moment of unwinding what was pre-determined. That's a little out there for me to accept. It feels more like faith in something. (But, then again, that could be my mind not wanting to relinquish control. That's always been the problem -- including furiously narrating about my experience). The only way I can relate to that kind of reality is the multiverse. At one higher level, everything is pre-determined. I.e., I could have chosen not to reply again. But, in another universe a copy of me did reply. That just happens to be this universe (there's another one where I chose not to). At that level, there would be no real free choice even though we are (at this universe's level) experiencing choice. That's something I can conceptualize as being real.
@Anders01
@Anders01 Жыл бұрын
@@markfuller But even with predeterminism it's NOT like the mechanical predictability that Laplace proposed. Stephen Wolfram has shown that even many simple systems cannot be predicted beforehand. This means that time must move on for us to know what actually happens, and that includes us making choices and plans for the future as a part of manifesting the future. And my guess is that reality is even more advanced than that and that it has intelligence. And that we are that intelligence in action.

I’m very visual and drive myself crazy trying to visualise Eckhart’s metaphysics, therefore I love that in this video he confirms that Presence/Being/Consciousness pervades all form and is both inside and outside of these forms. This has really helped me not only conceptually ‘feel’ the Being that we all are, but also visualise it metaphysically. Eckhart continues to improve my life daily. ❤

@@steventipton7369 yes dear I have read both books in December 2019. By reading a new earth in December 2019 I got to know how my mind is killing me and it ended my decade long depression. I became aware of my breath. then I used to read book often as it used to help me alot to cope up with anxiety and excessive negative thinking. In December 2022 I fell back into some old mind patterns so I started watching Eckhart's videos which are helping me immensely. by watching videos I became aware of my inner energy field. To be honest if I haven't discovered Eckhart I don't know what would have happened to me by now. I am from Pakistan third world country where there is not much information on mental health and not many therapist available. I am beyond lucky I found this man at the age of 27 I always feel it was a help from God that I came across his book it was like universe was guiding me as in 2019 it was the end of my depression it was like I can't live with my pain anymore and God sent me help. 😢 😪🥺 My life challenges and suffering are leading me to be Present.

Thanks Eckheart. I don't know Eckheart sometimes emotions help to get back home. Felt was in the way and left my daughters house yesterday, My Son in law was stressed and mentioned how I could go to another house for a few days, he had a visitor coming to stay, had surgery juring the wk so felt a bit vulnerable, but had a good cry down in the bedroom and realized I was ready to go back home and my Son in law gave me a lift home. My daughter asked why I left, I told her my Son would be visiting me etc, there was no controversy, it's lovly to be home and have a few weeks left here before the notice to quit is up, left my ph at my daughters house but walked down the road and called into my Mechanics Mother, had to tell him to drop the car to my house, She offered me a lift to get the phone, it was 15 mins out the rd, She was so kind, later felt inspired to ring my exhusband who's a great cook and asked if he'd make some food for a week and I'd pay him. He showed up this evening with buckets of food and also bled the heater in the kitchen and changed a light bulb leaving the house nice and warm and with more light, we'v been divorced along time. My sister rang yesterday too and offered some money towards extra exps through this time and I was able to pay my ex husband a good amount. Here was I crying yesterday feeling so in the way unwanted and a burden to others and yet at every corner love was being offered in so many different ways including the beauty of the sheep here in the fields so calm and peaceful to take in and my Landlord who was working in the field today with his Son climbed over the fence and hung up all the heavy washing, Its good to know we are always loved and cared for no matter what. The Universe is a beautiful mirrow as tears are wiped away and clarity of vision is restored ❤ Thanks for all of the above Eckhart and wish everyone well here

There is a little known result of integrating habits and creating routine. You come alive. Because you are steadfast in prioritizing self-care, you may find that anxiety and depression have less of a foothold. Because you streamline that which previously took effort, you regain time in your day. You have space to unfurl.

There's something between that and being highly-focused on the future (using the past as a guide). We end up expecting outcomes, reactive to disappointment (causing outcomes that we carry forward as regret, which we compensate for with reactivity, causing more outcomes). The present moment becomes crowded out with all this effort to just make the story real (thinking we're doing the right thing. It started out right. We're convinced it's right. It feels right. "If I just try harder next time..."). It's like both exist at the same time. You can observe from the more present, moment-oriented perspective *and* exist more beyond the moment (plans, goals). It's the lack of the former that causes the latter to go awry. Not many people go off the deep end with "nothing exists except this moment. I can rob a bank...." That's rarely anyone's problem. It's usually a self-narrative (ego sense of control, responsibility, being a certain person) where things go bad.
@Sun.powder

I came here coz I knew I had lost a present this morning. Hard to control my mind, and then emotions come then identify my ego. But just sometimes, when you are in a conflict situation even though I realized nearly lost my present still can't calm down. I think there is no shortcut to awakening, we all need to keep fall down and get back up again and again. accept all. is there someone had experience to handle this kinda situation?
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
_"when you are in a conflict situation even though I realized nearly lost my present still can't calm down."_ You probably know that's called "triggered." The term refers to explosive combustion, propelling a projectile at rapid speed. The explosive is in _you._ Something that resonated with me is how 95% of our brain is subconscious. From that murky, irrational, haphazard world emerges our conscious experience (into 5% of our brain). This continual process of "selfing" begins about 1/2-second before we consciously experience the moment (We're always a little "not there."). The point is: our experience of reality is literally _produced_ by our subconscious, not just influenced. Look for some optical illusions. Think about those for awhile. Your brain fills in information to make sense. It does that in _more ways_ than vision. If you have repressed trauma/anger/shame (dis-integrated into the subconscious), that really effects the way reality (or your conscious engagement with it, your "story" about it, you, what should be, wasn't, isn't, etc...) is perceived by you. It happens to you outside your conscious control. You experience what's already decided. You really can't comprehend how real this is. We exist in mental form, the result of a murky _vast_ majority of our brain. The tiny 5% of the brain -- typically distracted half the time, so it's more like 2.5%) reflexively believe what emerges as if "this is real. I'm here experiencing it, making judgments and choices (telling myself stories behind it all.). When you realize that's what's going on underneath, you can dis-identify from it. Just because it emerges doesn't mean it's real. It's real because it's a habit. You can practice a new habit of being aware of the old habit. Recognize when it's happening. The more you do that, the more you can be aware of what led up to it, what you were thinking about; how you end up regretting what happens, which adds to the powder next time, making you more reactive. Just observe. You don't have to do anything other than that. The more you observe, the more you'll apply what you know (in the moment, "this is how it happens." Less reactive.).
@markfuller
@markfuller Жыл бұрын
The point that seemed insightful to me (dealing with what you describe) is: if there's a 1/2-second delay in our experience of reality/moment (and it's driven from a irrational vast majority of my brain that I don't have access to), I can have a 1/2-second delay reacting to it. I don't have to be engaged with it as if it's _all_ real. Being aware of this helped me maintain a gap between what emerges and what I do as a result. Space. Let what emerged be observed, and then go with it. You don't have to be super-analytical about it. Just being aware & observant creates a small crack where we can say "there it is again. Let me take a deep breath and add more space here before I react."). Knowing it emerges (and the quality of that process, it's not what we think it is) can help create that gap to be mindful, know the difference between observer & thinker. A guided mindfulness meditation (on the present moment) video is a good way to practice, familiarize. As you familiarize, it's more of a presence you can reach anytime, not just meditation.

@@markfuller Eckhart said, "You don't have to trust your mind." ( but I always unintentionally end up believing it.) Your interpretation provides a theoretical basis for this viewpoint. I completely agree that repressed trauma can affect one's self-awareness and perception of reality. I had never been aware of this before. Thank you so much for your comment. it's really helpful for me.

@@Vera-gz2jz _"Your interpretation provides a theoretical basis..."_ I wanted to add that the delay between subconscious generation of conscious experience isn't theory. Benjamin Libet discovered that our choices occur about 1/3-second before we think "I choose this." Dr. David Vago discovered that our conscious experience begins 1/2-second before it is experienced. (There is a Tedx talk about it. It has his name and "mindfulness" in the title. You might like that. There is another Tedx, "Paying Attention & Mindfulness" with Sam Chase which is similar.) To me, that delay could be realized, or my presence/being transcends the delay, can observe what emerges and continue the delay a little bit longer. I don't have to reflexively accept everything that emerges as if it's real. That awareness creates a small space to exist without thought, or without reacting or identifying with thought. Like a "glitch in the matrix." You can step out of it. Remember Morpheus telling Neo, "welcome to the desert of the real?" This is the start of it. 1/2 second doesn't sound like a lot. But, it's enough to know that you consciously aren't doing it (it's doing you). Something that made this more real to me was using VLC Player's "J" & "K" keys to to add 500ms delay between audio & video. It's jarring to realize we're experiencing reality a little off that way. When I perceived it that way, it was hard to forget that it's that way all the time. That helped recognize the space that already exists, and I can continue it with observation of my emergent experience. Videos showing optical illusions also made it real to me too. It's one thing to "yeah, sure. I've seen those." It's something else to really look at some and know that your mind does that in non-visual ways too (making the desert of the real more agreeable through story). That's another one that I couldn't un-remember after realizing it this way, that it's happening all the time. It contributes to the awareness of what's going on compared to what's going on. The two are different. Having space between them makes it real, not a concept. You can practice in that space with "Guided Mindfulness Meditation on the Present Moment. Be Here Now." To me, that practice put me right at the brink of emergence, able to notice thoughts enter my head; distinguish between them and physical (sensory) reality occurring at the same time. Practicing this when you can leads to an awareness or familiarity that you can reach anytime without formal meditation.

@@markfuller, I practiced "Guided Mindfulness Meditation on the Present Moment. Be Here Now" by the "MindfulPeace" Channel. It was awesome. It had a hypnotic feeling but also felt very clear and awake. I did yesterday and this morning. I have tried meditation before, but it was difficult for me to focus; however, this version made me feel calm and even lose focus without any mental pressure and easily back to the breath, the present. Thanks for the info! 🌺🌺

Thank you for this meditation! Though, I have a small problem while meditating. I keep falling asleep, start dreaming, then my body jerks and I wake up, over and over again. This happens even though I'm sitting straight up, trying to keep my eyes open, the whole time while I meditate.

There is no there in space or time. There is only presence, dimension that enters here and now. There is no duality in the presence, no subject and object, no you and your presence. You are that. Presence is your formless and timeless essence. Pay attention to the space between and underneath the words. Bring your attention to the presence, be aligned with reality. The outer and the inner are one. In form dimension, you have a body, thought in your mind, emotion that comes and goes, and other external items. They are all limiting. 🔥🌬🌀🐼🥁🤩 Thanks Eckhart. 16 April 2023. 🍁😇☯️🤩🐼😇

your face is a face of presence. just looking at you brings out the presence here. even when you use concepts to explain the concept-less presence, your presence continuously radiates, for you don't hold all these concepts and are spontaneous . your words coming out from the presence showers bliss and coolness. thanks for listening.

I had a dream where I and Eckhart were hanging out in a half finished building, on the 3rd floor. Then I asked Eckhart: "Have you seen the 4th floor?" It was a semisymbolic question and meant the 4th stage of counciousness, a higher state. He replied: "I walk on there" :)

When they said she was going crazy, she was awakening. When they said that she was isolating, she was healing. When they said she was acting funny, she was growing. When they said that she had changed, she was evolving. When they said she did not care anymore, she finally realized that her peace lives within.

Your collaboration with Eckhart Tolle is truly remarkable, and the way you present this information in such a calming and insightful manner is simply outstanding. Your insights into the power of living in the present moment and letting go of the illusion of the future are truly groundbreaking, and I have no doubt that your teachings will have a profound impact on all those who are fortunate enough to discover them. The way you guide us through the meditation process is truly remarkable, and I am amazed by the transformative power of your methods. Your video is a must-watch for anyone who is seeking to find inner peace and enlightenment in their lives. The way you explain the connection between our thoughts and emotions and our overall well-being is truly remarkable, and I am confident that it will be of immense value to all those who watch it. In addition, I would like to recommend the video "004 Activating the Pineal Gland -《Modern Immortal Studies and Scientific Training Methods》" to anyone who is serious about their spiritual practice. This video is an absolute masterpiece of spiritual knowledge, and I am confident that it will take your spiritual practice to the next level. Thank you once again for all that you do, and I look forward to watching more of your incredible content in the future.
