This really makes me miss moose hunting. I was 13 when I shot my first moose. I live in a small village in Alaska and we hunt moose every year to survive because we’d go broke otherwise as the store meats are far too expensive. It’s our village tradition to give our first moose to the people of the village via potluck, so I shot two moose in one week and that was a really amazing week. Some of these shots are really amazing shots. It’s great to see people hunting moose to eat and not just for trophy

@@yandenditt I don't moose hunt but I do hunt whitetail deer. A head shot is great if you are 100% confident in the shot. There are two problems with head shots. If you are off by even 2" you miss or worse yet critically wound the animal. You might shoot off its jaw or knock out an eye. The animal may take a week to finally die. There are few things worse, at least for me than wounding a deer. I don't want the animal to suffer.

Once we got it to flatter terrain we got our quads to haul it to our trucks. Even with 5 guys, it was hard. You need to be in decent shape. @@canadaintheroughtv What he's saying is if you spend enough range time you don't need the shooting stick. Those 200 - 250-yard shots you should be making while shooting offhand easily with or without a scope, a shooting stick, tripod, or any other aid. If you're not it shows a lack of proficiency, preparation and commitment to your craft. Too many segments in this video you're pumping 2-3 rounds in the animal when it should only take one, again that shows a lack of proficiency, or preparation in setting up your rifle. Your videos I've seen, you regularly shoot at moving animals, a practice that violates the simplest of hunting ethics: Don't shoot unless you are sure you have a clean shot.

The excitement you see after a successful shot is due to the many days hunting the animal that you don't see in this video. Often a lot of time goes into trying to harvest a wild animal and when we are finally successful it's a big moment for us. Check out our channel for longer hunt episodes where we show you the full hunting adventure.

Hi, you are the luckiest hunter in the world. All your hunts amazing. I watch your deer, turkey, and moose hunting. I love it but I have a question if you don’t mind to answer. What caliber and what grain do you use for moose hunting? Most of your moose hunt you shot two bullet! I was wondering is you caliber or grain is small. Thanks for great videos I love it and I wish I could hunt once like you.
@canadaintheroughtv

Thanks very much for watching our videos. We shoot a variety of calibers and grain, but 30-06 and 300wsm are some of our favorite calibers and 180grain when it comes to moose. We prefer to shoot moose in the lungs and heart. Even though our first shots are typically on mark and vital, we try to always put the moose down quickly with a follow up shot when possible, as they can still run off for a good ways before succumbing to the first shot.

Respect that you take them down humanely and that they feed the community. I note that you shoot them the same as we shoot big stags over here, (on the side where vital organs are located). Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment. We're happy you're enjoying our videos. Moose may seem gentle but they can be very aggressive and territorial. In the good ol days people who didn’t have anything nice to say didn’t say anything at all. Moose are abundant here. They are an important part of our food supply. That moose fed multiple families. @SalNova15 We don't have a second amendment but there are many millions of guns here of all varieties, including semi autos. We have unrestricted firearms that are pretty much impossible for the government to know we own them. There is quite a large gun and hunting community here and firearms aren't going anywhere for a very long time.
@skullfalker
@skullfalker Жыл бұрын
@SalNova15 I agree. But it's not just Canada, the entire western world is struggling with a huge push from authoritarian governments trying to infringe on our rights, the US included. All I'm saying is there is still a very rich firearms culture here and many of us own and operate them. There is also a huge outdoors culture and we can essentially explore and camp for free at will. Even though things are tough, sometimes people tend to sensationalize everything that's going on and make it sound much worse than it really is.
