These are great videos. LOTS of options in just a few minutes. I am particularly appreciative of your choice to focus on the design and build, and not show the typical "how to cut a board." Thank you for making these. I have customized many of the designs you show for my own shop walls. Keep up the great work!

Storing a hand plane on it's side because it will dull it is a widely-disproven myth. It was started by shop teachers who didn't want students slamming the planes down on a metal tool or ruler. It's persisted because no one knew better. A wooden surface will not dull or damage your hand plane. Thanks for sharing!

I love all of your French cleat accessory builds. I made a similar build to your pocket hole jig holder. But I put the cleat along the long part of the plywood. I let this part hang over the edge of my bench when I clamp it so it lays flat. Keep up the French cleat projects. 👍

Thanks for the tips, my workshop is getting organized with these tips. I made the pocket hole jig cleat, one thing I did differently was to add a piece of wood the same size of the cleat to the bottom so that it was more stable when using the jig. Great job keep it up.

An alternate idea for your spring clamps: a dowel, similar to a traditional paper towel holder, and hang that up on your top cleat. The spring clamps just hook on to the dowel. Light weight and easy to reach. Thanks for all the ideas.

Corner shelf is an awesome idea! I have the same situation with my cleat walls and this is probably the most efficient and nicest looking way to use that space. Thanks! As for using velcro strips on the jig parts holder, I wonder if the wood shavings would eventually clog up the velcro? But still a nice idea that I might use for mounting an awkward bit storage case that I have. I like your videos showing your practical and logical builds!

The first use I ever found for cleats was in hanging kitchen cabinets , but where I come from we called these "sex cleats" for obvious reasons. As I'm presently outfitting my last shop I've learned over the years the value of large tool mobility (wheels on everything including a work bench) and the necessity of "everything has a place and a place for everything" for smaller tools etc and these ideas are gold....oyea and always clad your walls in plywood.......drywall, both long term and short, just doesn't cut it. Thanks for all the great ideas. And to all you old farts out there....watch the young guys as they still have the intensity of new found interest in all the new ways. I started out driving slotted screws with a Yankee racheting screwdriver and while I still have it, I will hang it on the museum wall I have planned next to the Brace and bit I used to drill holes with ....across the room from all my Makita battery driven tools that I dearly love and depend upon.

So many awesome idea's! Please note that that fire extinguisher is useless in a real fire situation. Get a large one and mount it directly on the wall with a metal holder. Or get the cart type that is even larger so you can also fight larger fires.
@SpecificLove74 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the insight. I mainly just have it for the shop incase of an oops.
@verlicht4 жыл бұрын
@@SpecificLove7 Even a small fire cannot be stopped with a small extinguisher. I have seen many shops and factories burn to the ground because they had too little firefighting power when the fire started. Just a large extinguisher will be 10x more useful when (not if) that moment comes where you need it.
