as a foreigner, i am wondering why it is allowed (being a relative to a victim or not) to say such things in court, without getting sentenced in any form for that. Sure i understand how they probably must´ve felt. But that doesn´t give a right to insult someone in that form in a courtroom. A judge has a lot of wiggle room where sentencing is concerned. If I was innocent (even if I wasn't, but definitely if I was), I'd be on my absolute best, most even-headed behavior to show the judge what a reasonable person I am. Guilty or not, what on earth would throwing chairs and assaulting people in the courtroom while you're being accused of ASSAULT get you??

You didn’t even get into the craziest part about Bass Webb. Not only was he sentenced to the 15 years for assault and intimidating, he also got 37 years for attempting to run over two court clerk officers (the reason he was originally there) AND on top of that, he got sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of one of his ex girlfriends, and while he was on trial for that, it was discovered he had killed another one of his exes years prior, and as far as I know, he’s still going to court for that case.

I recognize that defendants coming from jail are often pungent. But the smell must have been nearly intolerable. Good guards will notice such things and make sure they are bathed. I was once involved in a case in a federal courtroom in the big federal building in Los Angeles. Suddenly a handful of federal marshals burst into the room. We are all sitting there quietly, including the judge, wondering what was going on.
