I lived in HK for 20 years, where I had my own business. I lived, for a while, in Mong Kok and Sheung Wan, which were indeed densely populated, but I also lived in Fo Tan, and Tung Chung, on Lantau Island, which is relatively unpopulated, with parks, walks, mountains, villages and beaches - merely a 30 minute MTR ride from the city. Our community regularly held barbecues, parties, etc., both in our vicinity and also elsewhere on the island. We could camp out on the beach and have a bbq/party with no overcrowding issues. I now live just outside Manila, which I am aware is crowded, but we have space, fresh air and land. 1 hour from Manila, but without the urban sprawl.
