Disney is great for lost things! My 4 year old's MagicBand fell off our first day in the park. We submitted that it had been lost, but pretty much wrote it off and got a new one to go on with our trip. Fast forward 2 months, we get a box in the mail from Disney - they had found the band and shipped it to us at no charge, and it was in time for our return trip to make up for Hurricane Ian cancellations!

Sorry but when somebody loses stuff in a wardrobe during a hotel stay I would expect the hotel to call me without me getting active. I mean they know who stayed in that room and they should have noticed right when they clean that room...

If you don't have TSA Precheck and your departure flight from MCO leaves between 5am & 7:30am, you may want to budget extra time for the TSA security line. This is especially helpful if your departure is on a Saturday or Sunday. In my experience, the regular security line can get looooong and move kinda slow for those early morning flights. For peace of mind, it's worth it to plan on 45 minutes to clear security. If it ends up taking the usual 15-25 minutes, then you've gifted yourself extra time to luxuriate in the concourse. Also, when you're flying out of MCO, don't overlook curbside check-in. I usually check my bags inside, but earlier this month I used curbside. I didn't have to schlep my bags allllllll the way indoors, check-in was much faster (the lines at the indoor counters were pretty long), and the service was much more personalized.

AJ, I’ve come to really love your videos even though I don’t travel with kids. They make me appreciate what people traveling with kids go through! I have a couple of tips based on preparation for my upcoming trip. (1) I bought the Disney’s WHO’s Who A-Z of Disney characters for autographs. It’s a great book, but it’s way too heavy for me to carry around the parks, especially since a small fraction of the characters in the book do meet and greets. I also looked on Amazon for traditional autograph books - then decided I’ll just buy one at m6 resort gift shop when I arrive. (2) I’m an older adult who tends to stay loyal to a business when they do me good. In June 2016, when I was returning from Greenland a day late because the Iceland airline had to cancel the flight returning me to Reykjavik, my travel company booked me from Newark (?) home to Albany on American because I could not get my original (Cape Air) the next day. The ticket they gave me in Reykjvik had stars on it - and I was told they’d assign my seat in Newark. So, in Newark, having had to wait in a long customer service line in agony because I had fallen on a volcanic path in Iceland and really banged up my knee - I find out there is no seat for me! I’m crestfallen. When I explain my injury, the American agent set up a monetary reward for someone on that upcoming flight to give up his seat for me. Someone accepted for $100, which I did not have to pay, and I was crying in gratitude. So, American offered the best flight itinerary for my upcoming trip to Orlando, and I was happy to buy it. But - WARNING - they have changed my flight times to allow only a 32-33 minute layover in Charlotte, and I’m recovering from a sprained ankle! So I’m paying the $19 extra for seats closer to the front of the plane. I hope this information helps someone .

Air Tags helped us when caught in the Southwest flight debacle over Christmas! Definitely recommend them! We saw when SWA finally sent them onto our home airport and super helpful in finding the suitcases when they were put in a huge room with thousands of others pieces of luggage. We were able to use “directions” buttons and walk to ours to claim. Luggage workers were amazed!

Talks about how TSA Pre-check will save you a huge amount of time. Footage shows a wait of less than 2 minutes for both lines. Does it really save you time, Americans? I'm not one so I don't qualify. Seems like the TSA pre check line is secretly making things faster for everyone by getting some people into a special fancy system. Do you have to take the small fan off during rides?
@jeffaltier5582
@jeffaltier5582 Жыл бұрын
Most lines aren't that short. Generally speaking it takes about 15 minutes on average (at least where I live). Obviously higher during holiday times and lower if you're going somewhere in an off season. I have it and it's a nice perk-- kind of a lightning lane for airports. My kids live out of state and fly in during the very busy holiday times, so it is really handy for them to avoid 40 minute waits. I wouldn't say it is imperative, but to each their own.
@okeesmokee6658
@okeesmokee6658 Жыл бұрын
A good question. Yes, TSA saves me a lot of time and is much more convenient. When I travel with my wife, I go to the TSA line and she goes general - I am always through the line at least 15 minutes before she is. In addition, I don't have to take off my shoes, take my computer out, etc. Is it worth the $75 - absolutely. I travel quite a bit for work - wouldn't think of letting my TSA Pre-Check elapse.

AJ, at the end of the video when you mentioned getting off the flight at the layover, you said your bag will go to the final destination. Most airlines won't allow the flight to take off if the owner of that particular bag is not on the flight. (This is what happened at Lockerbie: The passenger got off at the layover and his bag with the bomb continued on the second leg of the flight).

How does early entry work at magic kingdom for resort guests? Will there be non resort guests waiting to scan tickets? Is there separate line for resort guests? Etc.

There are cast members with scanners at the rope drop area, they scan your band or ticket and then let you through if you are a resort guest. Once you get inside they are easy to spot just have your band or ticket ready or you hold up the other resort guests.

A few things..1) Instead of taking a lot of cash to keep you from overspending, buy Disney gift cards from places like Target where you save money on the gift card and then you can have a set amount of money to spend and, when that's gone, it is gone. 2) Don't use skip lag...the airlines will block you if you don't finish your intended trips multiple times. This is not an actual trip. Additionally, if it is a round trip flight, when you don't continue to the destination on the outbound flight, your ENTIRE return trip is cancelled. It is called throwaway ticketing, and could mean you lose your awards benefits if you are part of an airline's frequent flyer program. 3) Disney is really great about returning lost items. When we stayed at the contemporary a few years ago, my daughter left her swimsuit behind in the room. I didn't een know it was missing until it arrived in the mail from Disney.

Another way to keep cool is to wet your hat just short of dripping (or just enough to drip if you welcome a little water down your neck). I usually get some water into my cap at the first drinking or bottle-filling fountain, and after a little experience I've become able to squirt in just enough then swish it around until it soaks in, including the band. If you're planning on wearing a hat or cap anyway, it can save you the cost of a cooling cloth, or let you save the cloth for supplementing the hat when it really gets hot. It also applies the cooling right to your head where it's really important. It's a tip I learned when reading about pith helmets, which were designed to be worn wet for cooling.

Regarding staying off property, I recommend doing it because the Pros usually outweigh the cons. My fiancé and I stayed at Westgate Vacation Villas and it was significantly cheaper to stay there than an official Disney world hotel. The hotel was still like 10 or 15 minutes from Disney and about 30 from Universal. The hotel cost less than $200 a night for a suite that included in unit washer and dryer, a full kitchen, and a hot tub in the unit. Nothing like having a couple drinks in the hot tub after walking around Disney all day. And if you're worried about not having transportation to the parks, use apps like Uber or Lyft. Rideshare apps are pretty convenient and getting to the park is pretty easy. There are even dedicated drop off points right next to the bus drop off points for people using rideshare apps. Yeah it'll add up but what's an extra $200 for a whole trip's worth of Lyft compared to an extra $200 a night at a Disney hotel.

Could you please explain the difference between extended evening hours if you stay at a deluxe resort/hotel versus the after hours tickets? Got a trip coming in late February and want to make sure my family doesn’t misunderstand what is and isn’t included with our hotel perks
@DFBGuide
@DFBGuide Жыл бұрын
Extended evening hours are the perk available to Deluxe Resort guests - you can see the full hotel list on the WDW website. These take place at Magic Kingdom and EPCOT (and VERY rarely at Hollywood Studios) typically one set day each week. Deluxe Resort guests will get an extra two hours in the park after they close to everyone else and that is included as a perk, so no extra fee beyond a regular park ticket. Most rides are open and several restaurants will remain open. After Hours events are available at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios and those who purchase tickets will get 3 hours in the park after it closes to everyone else. You can typically enter at 7-730PM, so you could skip getting a regular park ticket that day and just attend the After Hours Event while arriving several hours ahead of the official start time to add some more value. After Hours also includes snacks (popcorn, ice cream bars, sodas), but other restaurants may remain open along with most rides in the park. Pricing ranges from about $115 to $129 per person for After Hours. After Hours events are typically less crowded than Extended Evening Hours, and since they last longer, you can usually do a lot more rides during an After Hours Event, but you’ll need to decide if the ticket price is worth it vs spending that money on a Deluxe Resort and using the extended evening perk.
