Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference: 0:00 - Intro 1. 0:27 {Are there 7 Deadly Sins?} I’ve heard people refer to the “7 Deadly Sins,” but I haven’t been able to find that sort of list in Scripture. Are those sins especially “deadly” according to Scripture? If not, where did that list come from? 2. 11:55 {Should Youth Pastors Simplify or Go Deep?} I absolutely love being a new Youth Pastor! However, I often find myself going over my students' heads. A small group of them tell me they're thrilled to "actually learn something." I'm conflicted on whether I should simplify my messages in an effort to hold as many attention spans as possible, or keep going into deeper waters to continue feeding those that seem to be benefiting from it. Thoughts? 3. 15:23 {Does God Love Everyone?} I hear some people make the claim that God doesn't love everyone. If God doesn't love everyone, how can He require that we love our neighbor (neighbor defined as Jesus defined it in Luke 10) as ourselves? 4. 19:14 {Was Ezra Wrong to Assume God’s Protection?} Regarding Ezra 8: 21-23, shouldn’t Ezra have been practical and used the resources available to him? Isn’t it unwise to just assume/hope that God will provide divine protection? 5. 25:46 {When God Kills, Was it Actually Satan?} Leaders at my church say that when God killed or did something bad it was always Satan. Thoughts? I think this is blasphemy. 6. 31:17 {Does Satan Himself Actually Tempt Us?} Considering Satan is not omnipresent or omnipotent, is it realistic to state that he tempts us, or does much of anything directly? Wouldn't it be more orchestration of demons who act? 7. 34:10 {Does Reading Scripture Aloud = Prophecy?} Does reading the Scriptures aloud in the power of the Holy Spirit count as prophecy? It's speaking forth the Word of God. Also, Scripture is called prophecy in 2 Peter 1: 19-21. 8. 38:15 {Married Legally vs. in the Eyes of the Church?} Is there a difference between being married in the eyes of the church and the eyes of the state? 9. 43:12 {When Apologists Make Mistakes} What do we do when apologists we trust are proven wrong or discredited by critics? Can we still trust them and their work? 10. 50:12 {Can a Christian Attend Secular Concerts?} Can you pls help me think biblically about going to secular concerts like Taylor Swift’s Eras tour? 11. 52:06 {Why Didn’t Greek Spread?} Why didn't Greek spread through the Christian world like Arabic did through the Muslim one? Both revere holy books, yet Greek didn't become widespread. Surely it would have made understanding easier. 12. 55:31 {Is Cessationism Heretical?} What can I say to a Cessationist brother who calls me heretical for simply believing in the miraculous gifts of the Spirit? Can there be unity? 13. 1:01:32 {Deathbed Visions from God or Satan?} Do you think deathbed visions of deceased relatives or Jesus are real, or hallucinations? If real, do you think they are from God or Satan? I’m worried about being led astray on my deathbed. 14. 1:04:52 {Ministering to LGBTQ+ Friends} Most of my long-time friends are part of the LGBTQ+ community. I got saved 3 years ago and no longer support that ideology, but they don’t know that. I feel convicted but don’t know how to approach the issue. Any advice? 15. 1:08:37 {Overcoming Lust} I’ve been struggling with lust for a few years, and it weighs heavily on my heart. Every time I think I can break away from it, I keep falling back into it. How can I finally break free? 16. 1:13:18 {Is Ecclesiastes 7 Misogynistic?} In Ecclesiastes 7: 27-29, my fiancée who is new to Bible reading and study wondered why this verse sounded misogynistic. Do you have any ideas? 17. 1:15:53 {Women & Men - Distinct Attire?} I heard you teach it’s a biblical principle for girls to make sure they wear only girl clothes and guys, guy clothes. I'm a girl but I sometimes wear zip hoodies or T-shirts that are technically from the men’s section (but with other women's items). I didn’t think that was wrong, but is my attitude wrong? 18. 1:20:08 {Standing Up for the Persecuted in Israel} How do we best stand up for the persecuted people of Israel in the world today and effectively do our duty to glorify Jesus as the controversy of Zion blazes? 19. 1:22:51 {Parable of the Patches & Wineskins} Can you help me understand the parable of the patches and wineskins at the end of Luke 5? 20. 1:30:29 {How to Truly Trust God} How do I truly trust God? I've been struggling with fear of dying and judgment; fear that I don't have enough faith or that salvation isn't really by grace alone.

20) Jesus gave us His righteousness for our sin. Study the following scriptures, in prayer to understand the meaning of each. If you haven’t started already, develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ by talking to Him at the start and end of your day. 2 Corinthians 5:21 Romans 5:1 Romans 4:23-25 Titus 3:5 Ephesians 1:13

15) We all struggle with some sort of temptation as humans, it’s important to pray/confess in advance before you’re tempted and during. The only way to overcome is through Christ who strengthens us. Only Jesus can renew our hearts from lust, ask, seek and obey. Quickly shift your thinking like Pastor said with scripture, our sword. We’re to look to Jesus to help us overcome all temptations. 2 Corinthians 10:5 “casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” Philippians 4:13💪 Romans 12:2🙏

Hey brother, if it adds any bit of joy or comfort , I wanted to let you know, I became a believer almost 3 years ago, The Lord just scooped me up out of nowhere, I can’t explain it. My husband wasn’t a believer at the time and I never thought he would be, your videos both guided, comforted and equipped me in those lonely months, they gave me (and still help me) confidence to share the gospel and now my whole household has been saved. 1jasonmurphy1: Believing we will see a dead relative again, is an earthly desire. This is not a moral issue one way or another. I have no scriptural evidence this reunion is true that I will see my relative again. However, this belief is rooted in thinking that in heaven, meeting my loved ones again will matter to me in the heavenly realm. But the reality and experience of heaven is not something we can actually imagine. So, I have concluded that I might not meet them again, and if true, it will not matter to me in the heavenly realm. There will be no anxiety, grief or longing in heaven....but neither is there evidence that reunion will happen. Hard to imagine that what matters so much to us on earth, will matter to us in heaven. Something to consider.

In answer to question 20. I felt like that for many years. I prayed for salvation thousands of times in my life. Finally one day I decided I would not pray "The Salvation Prayer" any more and just believe. My struggle came from being in the hyper charismatic movement and not getting all the "gifts" everyone else had so I thought I wasn't saved. God has saved me and saved me from that wicked movement.
@FalconOfStorms Жыл бұрын
Same! Thankfully I was only in the charismatic movement for a short time but they really did a number on me. Every time I screwed up and every time I couldn't fake tongues had me doing the sinner's prayer again to try and get re-saved or make salvation stick this time. When I realized that I don't save myself through a prayer or my actions it changed everything. Salvation is a work of God and He is not indecisive.
@theresakidd Жыл бұрын
Agreed. For the longest time I’ve had issues with the how I got saved. It happened when it was still popular for pastors to say ‘bow your head and close your eyes.’ For me that is a serious problem based on what I have read in the Gospels during my salvation journey. It’s Jesus’ own words ”I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God.“ Luke 12:8-9 NIV. This is the verse that pushed me to want to be baptized, that way I was claiming Jesus in front of others. Going forward I don’t close my eyes anymore when a pastor says it. I don’t want anyone else to come across this and feel like their salvation isn’t true.

I was beside my father when he took his last breath this past April. It is a very very beautiful and humbling thing to experience. And you’re right it is impossible to explain. My dad was 97 1/2. He lived a very long life and I felt to honored to be there at his end. I don’t know if he is with Christ and that is something that weighs on me but I must and do trust in the Lord and He brings me comfort. I was with my Mum too, 6am 19th April 2019 😑 . . . as I was sat by her bedside, The Holy Spirit gently said within, “I go to prepare a place for you, and I will come for you to take you to where I am. In My house are many mansions” That was such a comfort during the hardest time ever! Yet I knew Jesus was in the room that sad morning to take my Mums hand to the place He had prepared for her. Webster thinks so, too: pastor (n) a spiritual overseer especially : a clergyperson serving a local church or parish I mean, you are clearly serving as a spiritual overseer, you carry a position of authority, and your teaching will be judged to a higher standard, as you have pointed out in the past. You might as well embrace or at least allow the title! If nothing else, it helps new folks know you're not some guy off the street.

As a cessationist we believe that the OFFICE of the prophet, apostle, healer have ceased but not God’s miracles, prophecies or healing. He is sovereign and can do what He likes, when He likes through whom He likes.
@Karenpayne47 Жыл бұрын
Not trying to argue, genuinely asking….do you mean by “office” that a particular person would be given a particular gift, so that was his “office”? Ok, if I have that part right…when do you believe the offices stopped being a thing, and why did they stop?
@ParryBarnard Жыл бұрын
No problem happy to share my take on it. The sign gifts were to authenticate the apostles’ teaching. Prophecy, for the church, is no longer necessary as we have the NT which is the fulfilment of prophecy. Now, having said that God still speaks to His people and leads His people individually and heals through prayer. However, He does not heal everyone and we cannot command Him to do our bidding as so many modern day ‘prophets’ and ‘apostles’ seem to expect. I am yet to hear a modern day prophet give a faultless prophecy as those in the OT did. It appears to me that many in the Pentecostal and NAR Eisegesis scripture instead of exegesis making scripture about themselves instead of Jesus. My own daughter was healed from crohns miraculously after many years of prayer. God has led and blessed our family in amazing ways but it is His will be done in our lives not our will. I will not declare and decree but I pray Father if it be your will. I believe we are brothers and sisters in Christ, but for me I will follow what scripture says and not the imaginings of man. Hope that helps clarify my take on it😊

Thank you Mike for continuing to provide wisdom for us even in the midst of such a difficult time :) I know I’m a little late but in regards to the question about if it’s okay to attend secular concerts, I myself have attended plenty in the past, and as a more mature believer now I absolutely regret each one. Even The Lumineers one (which to many people is just a fun folk band). Trust me, when you get closer to Jesus and your heart is more filled with His joy, you won’t need anythinggg else. Sure I still have things I’m attached to in this world that I’m working on, but every way you’re pleasing the flesh is quenching the Spirit. I know that everyone has different convictions and I can’t just put a blanket statement over every situation, but life is so incredibly short. Don’t waste your time doing something that doesn’t benefit your spiritual life. I’ve even given up almost all secular music, tv shows, movies, etc. and believe me, I feel much more free and at peace. Sure, there’s a time and place for (pure and relaxing) entertainment, but not nearly as much as I once thought. Im writing this as a 21 year old, who knows the temptation to be a Netflix addict! But Jesus must be Lord over ALL our life! ❤️

For a lot of very young people like you there is going to be a season like this where you shed anything that isn't explicitly religious in nature. That can be a healthy phase. Nobody should try to convince you that you should do things that aren't specifically religious. But if you get to a point where you start to feel paranoid about seeing or hearing something secular, non-religious, or even anti-Christian, be willing to consider that it is not what goes into a man that defiles him but what is in his heart.

24:30 I’ve found that the snake symbolism actually traces back to exodus when Moses made the bronze snake and put it on a tree so that the people would be healed which symbolizes Christ.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Mike. To know that she is with the Lord is a great comfort. I'll pray for your family's comfort and that God would use this to strengthen faiths and reach any hearts that don't yet believe in Christ so that they might know him and be saved. Thanks for what you do faithfully for the Lord even through tough times. Your ministry has been a blessing and I pray you would be encouraged as you have encouraged others in the faith. God bless you and yours.

My condolences Pastor (*?) Mike with regards to your mother. I lost my father to cancer in March this year, and while it shook me deeply, my faith in God was not moved. I am glad to have Him as a steadfast comfort, for without Him, I am not sure where I would be. Thank you for being one of the teachers solidifying my faith in the time leading up to my father's passing. I know that it was part of God's will that I found and stuck with your channel to continue to learn about and love the word that He has given us.

Sorry for your loss. There are times in this life when you can see both the immense pain and weight of a loss but also strength and faith in ones eyes. This video showed that. Thank you, and may God strengthen you as you strengthen others through teaching his word.

A can’t imagine being on KZbin and having to keep my feelings in check. I’m glad you have the same assurance that I have in knowing where they are.
