I mean it’s true that someone who works should be paid. If someone is a pastor night and day, how are people expecting them to stay alive to teach? This is why I think people don’t see the full picture when it comes to the idea of not needing to pay pastors. However, we also see the abuses of the millionaire pastors exploiting people out of money. But note their schemes usually stem from “don’t tithe, you don’t get something from God”. So I believe people need to keep elders in check when money is getting exploited. But not that all elders should be stripped of money. That means also stripping the hours they can be in ministry and have them be in another job to make up the difference. I like what Mike said. Pay them well. No they shouldn’t get filthy rich. But their pay should reflect their work. If the church is doing all they can awesome. But we have seen churches that also take withhold money and then exploiting it as well. All in all, I think it depends on the situation. But we should never intentionally not pay a pastor or at the very least provide them something. Why not feed the pastor so they don’t have to pay for their meals? There are other ways to support elders.

Well I'm just glad this all comes to light so we can see the true colours of Billy. He is not humble, he is not eager to know the truth he is just a clown 🤡 and cry baby that can't handle the truth, even when it's said in the best manner and best intentions. And imagine if you were a true man and gentleman, accepting the truth, saying ok, I wasn't aware of this, I didn't know this, fair enough. Noooo, you just have to be this prepotent crybaby and sue people for showing you the truth. You are true.... 💩

I have always felt "keeping the pastor poor" was shameful. One of my few points of agreement with the prosperity gospel was pick up your end and tithe...whether it's biblical or not, it's practical. I have been poor as dirt myself, and there's not much spiritual benefit it. God can use it...but, if you think that poverty is spiritually enriching, please try it yourself, congregant, before you inflict it on your pastor. (I have never been a pastor, or married to one, for full disclosure)

You did not discuss Pastors who take a “fair” salary, but write books that millions. Chuck Swindall and Chuck Smith made millions with their books. Swindall kept all or most of it and I believe Smith gave it all away.

As other people have mentioned, Exodus 4:12 does not fit with what you discussed. This verse clearly states that God will harden Pharaoh’s heart “so that he will not let the people go.” I just don’t see how this can fit in your position that God only hardens people because of their will.

Indirectly, this is a question about speaking in tongues when there is no one to interpret. My church often has a piano solo. No one knows the words and every time it happens (I'm new there), all I can think is this is no different than speaking in tongues without someone to interpret.

Just knowing the evil in it SHOULD be a big enough red flag for hard core followers of Christ to not be involved. The Bible makes it very clear we are NOT to do as the world does, light and darkness cannot be intertwined

God promised to multiply our sacrifices. ……”Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property-along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.” Mark 10:29-30 NLT Jesus promised to give us a rich and satisfying life in Christ…”The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” John 10:10 NLT This doesn’t mean God to have driving a $100k car and living like you Elon Musk. The Bible is clear that we should bring enough tithes in so they will be food in His house. Pastors are part of that house and should be paid well to take care of ball their needs……..”Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching. For the Scripture says, “You must not muzzle an ox to keep it from eating as it treads out the grain.” And in another place, “Those who work deserve their pay!”” 1 Timothy 5:17-18 NLT Tithing may not be a command under the new covenant but the principle still apply in giving cheerfully. And too many churches take the “it’s a blessing to be poor” stand.

I’m not sure if I disagree with your answer to question 3, but I do disagree with how you interpret the temple items as a kind of go ahead to make similar items. Only because these images were commissioned by God with very specific instructions. They were also given warnings and even the Spirit to enable them to build everything exactly as God instructed for both Temples. I don’t think this allows, in any way for us to do similar things. That being said I still do agree with your conclusion. I believe that depictions of Biblical events can be displayed on murals or stained glass because not everyone could read back then and I think those were ways to present those stories.

I enjoyed the talk on honoring and paying pastors. The teaching on tongues left me thinking that tongues is a nuisance. Mike's teaching made it seem that one had to continuously check oneself if they wished to speak in tongues: "Is there a none believer present, does this need to be interpreted?" He's in effect placing the burden on the one speaking in tongues- creating a form of self censorship. What if I were speaking a foreign language like Chinese or Russian? I wouldn't be self censoring myself. Yet Mike seems to think that I shouldn't pray at all. Only pray in the language of the majority language in the room. It's horrible impractical to require that everyone pray this. How about this, let's just not pray publicaly, that way no one is offended.

Married to a unemphathetic, all controlling, narcissistic christian man who I submitted for 18 years. I did and follow what he says in everything. My kids grew up with cronic anxiety and one of them in alcohol. I do boame myself for not speak up my mind in early years. When i tried to separate he blamed me for everything and reminded me to submit and him. Marring a Christian man not necessarily will be all happiness. I would put up with laziness but with an angered , tempered, controlling made it extremely difficult. 25 years now... I still wait for a miracle

Sacred things should be held into deep reverence and responsibility- they are sacred - sex is a blessing but wrongly it can destroy us subtly / misuse of it and forcing it someone is evil - things are used this way and so it’s like you can deeply enjoy sex but you shouldn’t distort its purpose I mean it’s clear in one’s salvation and being saved and born again and reading scripture - why gray it all and blur it ?

to me at a minimum a pastor should be paid. it is beneficial that a pastor be paid enough to not need other income and can study word of God, visit his congregation and their family's, have time to put together sermons, preform outreach and evangelize. whatever number that is should be strived for at a minimum. to me ideally you would want a pastor to support himself and a house hold of a wife and 2 children with the wife having the option to work if she wants too but the family needs met and money able to be saved on the pastors income alone. ideally to me anyway. however when compensation starts getting in the realm of making the pastor wealthy and rich then I think a line has been crossed. certainly though when its beyond doubt that pastor is rich and has fancy cars and jets and is laden with possessions the world holds in high regard then that pastor is in sin and is false. a wolf among sheep, a viper in the crib, a rat in the pantry one who is under the sway of the evil one. to those pastors I offer up Matthew 4:4

My thing is Romans 14. I get we don't want our brothers to stumble, but Romans 14:13 starts with a warning against passing judgement, and we pass judgement on rich pastors all the time. My dad was in insurance and coached a womens basketball team along with being a pastor, yes he drove a Benz he had 3 jobs (or as he put it 2 jobs and a calling). A pastor in my local area is an attorney. Yes he drives a Tesla, hes a lawyer they tend to do well. The pastor of the church I grew up in was a CFO, he didn't even take a salary for years the church had no money. This occasional assumption from Christians that if you have money your scamming someone is unfair.

I dont mind paying our Pastors well or even making sure they are well fed and looked after if the Church cant afford much or full time. What bugs me is that despite tithing and the Church being able to pay the staff well they still charge for ministry nights when there is no visiting speaker. In my opinion they are extravagant and unnecessarily over the top which I worry loses the focus on the teaching. During Covid because they couldnt have the end of year honours formal (but were able to move about in the community) they went from house to house delivering thank you cards. That was the most thoughtful way to express gratitude was virtually free and made you feel far more seen than a party. It saved the Church thousands. Imagine who they could support if they worked on relationships and gratitude that way every year. I guess as a 52 year old things are a lot different now. They used to pass around the offering bag when visiting speakers came but everyone was invited. Pot luck was a thing allowing people to practice hospitality and invest in their community. The needs of the Pastor was also a community concern. Sometimes as a tithe payer it feels like an us and them situation forgetting that we need each other to be the hands and feet of God. The giftings may be diffferent but the value is the same.

Maybe 'double honour' means... 'Two Ways'- honour. 1* Deeply 'respected' ... meaning... if a preacher is 'walking' according to The TRUTH of CHrist, he is worthy to be 'obeyed' in Following 'his example'. How 'much more' can a pastor wants, to Satisfy his 'Inner man'?! 2* 'Fair Wage'... To Biblical standards it would probably mean... "Be satisfied with... 'bodily Basic Needs'. This would mean... 'Sufficient Wage'... to have a 'sufficien place' (one doesn't need a place with 4 bathrooms, if one is married, but has no children.) 'Sufficient Clothing'... wich does not seems to mean that one needs to have 20 costumes in the latest fashion. and 'Sufficient Food'... IF the congregation, who's menbers are working hard !, but get no 'honest payment' from their 'bosses'... ! and trying to SHARE TOGETHER, so that no-one is hungry... than it is not fitting for the Pastor 'to become Fat' ! because of luxurious dinners. (If a 'Pastor'/'Preacher' has a need for a Car, a Computer a.s.o., to be able to do his 'Pastor'-Work, The Congregation NEEDS to pay these necessities out of the 'Church-income of the '10%') IF... Believers would Honour EACH OTHER, each with an honest heart.. GOD WOULD PROVIDE... according to HIS Honest HONOURABLE ❤️🔥 AND DO NOT FORGET ❣️❣️❣️... Sometimes the Whole Congregation ! will be Tested by The Father... to 'find out' if We, as HIS Children, are Realy L❤ving Each Other... as 'The ONE Body' of His SON... Who was PAYING with His Life... to The Death... to Give us Abounded... 'REAL LIFE'❣️) 🙏 👉 : May THE HEAVENLY PROVIDER Bless His Children with ALL that we need... 🥰 to!!! Show How HE L❤️🔥VED 'lost sinners' and 'Crowned them' with HIS AGAPÈ- Wealth❣️ 😘

One time I walked into a Pentecostal church during a prayer, and heard a chanting and noise of madmen, and I got the hell out of there as soon as possible. Gibberish is accurate description of nutjobs blowing gaskets when rattling their tongues inside their mouths. There is also a degree of mental illness that is probably associated with the "tongue-speakers"

I don't think Jesus removed animal sacrifice and circumcision in 1st century to ensure we retain hair coverings in our 21st century. 'Jesus made us free for freedom's sake' - where Paul debates at length against circumcision. Paul ironically promotes head coverings with similar rhetoric as a matter of modesty. 🤷♂ I'm mainly against hair coverings bc they're a tool of legalism in our time. The Holy Spirit is fine with short and long hair, women voting, and slavery ending. I think one day we can finally catch up to Him on the hair things too. 🤭
