Question Time Stamps for Quick Reference: 0:00 - Introduction 1. 0:10 {How to Support a Recovering Spouse} My husband is a recovering alcoholic, now beginning to attend AA meetings. As a wife, what are the most practical ways I can support him while encouraging him to begin leading our home in a biblical way without overwhelming him? 2. 7:00 {Where did Lazarus Temporarily Go?} Where were people who died and later got resurrected located in that period? Do they go to Heaven or Hell and get snatched back to Earth after they’re resurrected (e.g., Lazarus, Dorcas, Eutychus etc.)? 3. 10:50 {Our Own Thoughts vs. the Holy Spirit} In something like pursuing a relationship, or even in general, how do you tell the difference between the Holy Spirit and your own anxiety telling you not to do something? 4. 18:42 {How to Biblically Grieve Painful Loss} My only son died from an overdose last year. I was angry at God and walked away from Him for a bit. I told Him “If I am to serve you, I want the real God.” Isaiah 43: 18-19 says to get over it. How do I get over it? 5. 23:28 {Can Horror Movies & Secular Music Invite Demons?} What are your thoughts about Christians having to be careful so that they don’t invite demons into their lives through watching horror movies or listening to secular music? Is this biblical? 6. 27:50 {About Evidence & Belief} Imagine if someone asked you, “Would you be willing to disbelieve in God if the evidence led there?” What would your response be? Are we obligated to say yes? Does that dishonor God? 7. 34:07 {About the “Golden Rule”} Is the Golden Rule objective or subjective? For example, I tease my friend and he teases me back because we think it's funny, but I won't do it to others because they don't think it's funny. 8. 35:58 {Are All of God’s Actions Infallible?} How do I approach a conversation with someone who doesn't believe God is infallible? He believes in the God of the Bible, but he doesn't think all of God's actions are "good," like in the book of Job. 9. 43:44 {Identifying & Rejecting False Teaching} What's up with all the bad hermeneutics out there? How can those of us without formal training avoid bad interpretation/application of Scripture by ourselves and be able to spot them in sermons, etc.? 10. 46:21 {Does God Hate Satan?} Does God hate Satan and the demons? 11. 48:01 {What Did Jesus Mean by “Be Perfect”?} What did Jesus mean when He said, "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" in Matthew 5: 48? Wouldn't that mean we're all condemned since we sin every day/week? 12. 54:39 {About Jacob & Esau} Why didn't God punish Jacob and his mother for stealing Esau's birthright and blessing (Genesis 27)? In fact, why does He love Jacob and hate Esau (Malachi 1)? 13. 57:53 {About “Unknown”/ Tongues in 1 Cor.} What do you make of the added word “unknown” in 1 Corinthians 14:2-3, which is not in the original Greek? Could it mean that it is not a different sort of tongues, rather, that no one understands them? 14. 1:00:27 {A Difficult Passage - Ezekiel 45} Is Jesus offering sin sacrifices in Ezekiel 45? 15. 1:03:23 {Should we Worship Using Instruments?} Should we use instruments in congregational church worship? Why or why not? The early church did not use instruments. 16. 1:07:54 {What to Do When a Church Member is Out of Line} What should I do if a member of my fellowship with some mental issues has been making several false prophecies every day, saying literally "hear me for the lord speaks”? 17. 1:09:27 {Book Recommendations?} What are some good books for important topics like systematic theology, hermeneutics, complementarianism, etc.? 18. 1:11:50 {About the Subordination of the Son} How do you explain the subordination of Jesus (1 Corinthians 11:3; 15: 28) to the Father within Trinitarian theology? I explain it via incarnational subordination (Philippians 2:5; Hebrews 29; 5:8). 19. 1:15:14 {Were Any of Jesus’ Bones Broken?} If the nail of a crucified victim was inserted through the heel bone or ankle bone, how should we interpret John 19: 36? Wouldn’t a nail cause the bone to break? 20. 1:19:51 {When to be Kind vs. Aggressive} When trying to be biblically based, how do we know when to be kind, and when to be aggressive?

@@spartanbacon3588 Basically, most translations don’t translate it as a miscarriage, and the context doesn’t require the woman to be pregnant. If she was guilty, I think her punishment was to no longer be able to have children. But even if she was pregnant, it would be nothing like elective abortion since she herself didn’t make the choice. God took David’s child away whom he conceived in his sin with Bathsheba. God has the right to choose to take a life, the woman was not granted that right in this ritual.

I’ve been through that with alcoholic husband. AA became his new drug and we had tremendous problems in our marriage because his whole focus of time became all about him attending meetings and getting sober. This went on for two years. He was never home and AA became his priority over our family. My husband became a leader in our home when he got into a mens Bible study group that held him accountable and they disciples him. Without this group of men, our marriage would have been doomed. God must be a big part of his recovery!!!!!!!!

The church didn't know how to help me at this level and Al-anon wouldn't like you to publicly announce God as my help. Going back and forth between the two helped greatly. Prayer was my greatest help.

Anonymous wife, I’ve been there. Have you considered attending Celebrate Recovery? Many churches offer this Christ centered 12 step program. Also as a recovering alcoholic I myself, I can tell you AA sometimes because a “church” in itself and it’s not healthy long term at least it wasn’t for me. So both sides here, celebrate recovery covers both and then some. I was CR lead at my church for a long time so know the ministry well. Before my husband got sober, I was DONE and had enough. I kicked him out to a 30 day recovery program and God met him there and restored him. Living with a practicing alcoholic was like living with a demon.

I can recommend Celebrate Recovery too for a support group. I tried Al Anon and found that AA and those programs are desperately trying to phase out God in their programs. They refer to it as "your Higher Power" and most used to understand that it was referring to the Judeo-Christian God. But now they are trying to completely phase out the Judeo-Christian God in order to be "inclusive". One day, at Al Anon meeting, I referenced one of the 12 steps and said, that for me, as a Christian, that would be considered "repentance". The leader of the meeting immediately said that they would not tolerate any mention of religion in the meeting in order to be inclusive of all peoples. So, as we repeated the Lord's Prayer and broke up, I didn't go back. They have tried removing the Lord's Prayer from these meetings and some groups still do it. It's very sad. I threw the books away and went to Celebrate Recovery for awhile. I still need to go but can't drive at nights and I'm sort of socially phobic. It takes me a long time to feel comfortable and fit in. But the program seemed good, follows the same 12 steps but is Christ-centric.

I listen to your 20 questions every Friday Mike, God bless you. I am a recovery alcoholic/addict. Twelve step programs, AA and NA specifically, got me sober and keep me sober. They also led me to God and to service through AA where I sponsor and help the “newcomers,” coming into AA. I think the lady with the alcoholic husband would greatly benefit from Al-Anon, where she will find support and understanding from people who have walked in her shoes.

No 6: I love the passage in ‘The Silver Chair’ (CS Lewis, Narnia) where the dark queen is trying to convince the children, the Prince Rilian and Puddleglum the marshwiggle that the world of Aslan isn’t real. Puddleglum, resisting her spell, proclaims that, “if the Queen was telling the truth and her dark kingdom was the only world, he would rather live in the 'imaginary' world of Narnia and Aslan than her black pit of a kingdom”. This would probably be my response to this question (bottom line only though - you’d need to take the asker seriously or risk offending them and doing damage.)

what i will conclude about your question is that after john baptized Jesus, Jesus then went to fast in the wilderness. while Jesus fasted john was arrested. so Jesus left and began His ministry.. Jesus began doing wondrous works performing signs and miracles and word traveled and spread. personally in my experience with Jesus, when i discovered through revelation and other wonders that Jesus was real, weeks later i began to question, if it were a coincidence or real. i believe satan truly comes to steal kill and destroy. he came to confuse me so that i may question His reality. we just realize that john was merely a man. as humans we need assurance and confirmation to gain peace, so that we may continue in faith. as john heard about these wonderful works, i’m sure he needed confirmation because he probably never got to truly ask Jesus that question because Jesus had left so quickly after he baptized Him. this allowed john to rest and know that His job was complete.

regarding Q5 about deliverance ministry, i got caught up in all that, thinking everything was demonic and obsessing over needing to be delivered from demonic spirits and items. i prayed one night and said God if i'm following any teachers or teachings that are false show me, expose it. and that same night i had a super clear concise dream where Isaiah saldivar was like an evil person kid napping me. he came to my house looking for me 3 times. the second time he said "i'm going to come back and take you tomorrow, you can either leave or i will come and take you away" and i didn't head the warning and the 3rd time he came back he said "did you really think i wouldn't take you?" it took me like a month to finally understand the dream. God is giving me opportunities to stay away from false teaching, but if i don't i will be punished. and isaiah being the evil person in my dream led me to come to the conclusion that there is a falseness in deliverance ministry. they're demon obsessed. and we need to be Jesus obsessed! if we were Jesus obsessed we would not need to worry about demonic influence. Just love the Lord and obey him, he is enough and what should be on my mind and in my thoughts, not worrying about demons 24/7

for Question #5 I would say this, it is just mho: Does what you watch and listen to bring glory to God? It is so importamt that we becareful of what we put before our eyes and ears because the Word of God says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. With that said we should not tell someone what they should watchi or listen to. Just ask them does it bring glory to God and let the Holy Spirit guide them UNLESS God has told us to tell them to NOT watch or listen to that (Just make sure it is God and not you!)

Hi Mike, thank you for your service. Your answers to the wife of an alcoholic were on point considering your lack of personal experience. Especially the “not backseat driving” part. I am a Christian who seemingly could not have been able to stop drinking without the support of AA, plus that’s how I was lead back to Christ after backsliding. If the wife can walk in spiritual principles, he will follow that behavior (eventually). It may get worse before it gets better. When he is struggling it’s ok to ask if he has spoken to his sponsor, needs a meeting, etc. read the book for a better understanding of how to help, namely the chapter “To Wives” written by Bill W.s wife, Lois.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you applies more to attitudes than specific actions. For instance, in gift-giving, you get something for them that THEY would like, something that would fit THEM-not something your size or style. The attitude of pleasing or serving their needs and desires-applicable to humor and interactions, too, what they think is pleasant, funny, etc. You don’t need to have a specific object or action that you would want given back to you-it’s an attitude.

Anonymous wife..... I'm in your same shoes and it sure is a tough road for us. I was hoping Pastor Mike would speak on more specific things. Here is one thing I've tried and it seems to be helping...not sure if you'd find it helpful or not. I don't know if this is most alcoholics but my husband internalizes a lot and I don't realize something is troubling him until it comes out much later so everything I mention that is outside of his comfort zone is with zero pressure but with clear intentions. For example, we have a 4 year old and our family is finally in a regular dinnertime and nighttime routine (thanks to his sobriety evenings are more uneventful now). Every few nights I'll suggest eating dinner together at the table and talking about our day (most times we watch TV together- don't judge its just what we do) and before we eat we'll say grace and it's very informal...usually the little one has a meaningful to her but funny to us way of saying thanks to God. Laughter is good. Then I'll give thanks and he'll say something short and sweet...but it's a start. We do the same with prayers at night. The little one prays first, then me, then him. His is usually short, sometimes goofy and that is all ok. For us, it's small steps and that is okay. Considering he went to catholic school for 8 years, he doesn't know much about praying and God and that's ok. I set the tone and example for the family but I'm slowly but surely passing the baton to my partner so he can take the lead whenever he's ready.....that's us, maybe that helps someone else out there....

Oh..and one more thing that I've leaned on and reminded myself over the years...when the bible says "what God has joined together let no one separate" that also means the spirits of alcoholism, dependence, bitterness, resentment have no authority to separate us either.... that thought has helped me put those spirits out of our home and far from our hearts. I don't know if it helps my husband much but I tell him outloud that we are heavenly bound together and nothing can come between us since God himself brought us together. I think that reassures my husband in a way... maybe gives him some relief that he can focus on his issues and not worried that I'll leave him over it. I have faith that God will see us through this so I'm just waiting for that day. Sometimes that day comes and goes. He's "backslid" a few times as Mike called it. But that's ok too. We had to learn how to get through that together too. "God works ALL things....."

I would like to add a caveat to Q20: Make sure you engage in self-judgment before deciding who else around you is proud and arrogant. The Lord of glory was never proud and could be subject to God's will even in the agony of the Garden of Gethsemane. We humans generally lack that level of discernment, ESPECIALLY when going through life's deepest agonies and anxieties. Been there myself, watched other people go through it. Once in a great while you might experience the unique marvel of watching someone display the character of Christ while going through the kinds of turmoil Christ experienced in his earthly life. But those are rare, while the ugly, fleshly reactions are far too common.

Pastor Winger, my brother and fellow yoke man in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I agree that the structure of the question about secular songs and horror movies was sort of wreckless, but so was your answer, that appeared to say there was no connection between any secular song or any horror movie and demons at all, when there most certainly are some secular songs and horror movies that were totally inspired by demons to have a anti-God, pro-Satanic effect upon those who listen and/or watch them. As Christians we have a commandment to love other people, and we should share the gospel graciously to those that are willing to listen. However, when he comes to the enemies of Christ, such as, hardcore atheists and apologists for cults we need to prick their hearts; at times sarcasm is appropriate.

For question 6, my mindset is basically if someone asked "If God didn't exist, would you believe He does". I'd say one of three things: 1. No 2. I'd go to the cosmological argument and argue that the world wouldn't exists so I wouldn't believe or disbelieve anything. 3. The nature of reality would be different so I don't know whether or not I'd believe because my very conciousness would be different. I don't know how right that is, but that's my mindset.

Regarding "love and respect"... It's interesting to go back and look at how modern Christian teaching has changed the message of the Bible about how men and women are to treat each other in marriage. Emmerson Eggerichs's book on the subject is littered with advice that teaches women to subject themselves to abusive husbands. I know you aren't teaching that, Pastor Mike, but so many might hear your words and assume you're endorsing his teachings, based on that one verse in Ephesians. Sheila Wray Gregoire has written "A Letter Explaining Concerns about Love & Respect" that may help you understand what so many might be thinking when you talk about "love and respect" in marriage.

The “answer” to the second question can be found in the study of the Hebrew word “Sheol,” often translated to Abraham’s Bosom in the Old Testament (and referenced in the New Testament). This is where the concept of “purgatory” was derived from in the Catholic Church, so many Protestant churches stopped teaching on this to steer away from Catholicism.

From there we can examine claims from religious history to see who or what makes the most sense. When examined carefully, Jesus is the clear and best explanation of everything we experience.

@@patedwards8844 Do you know what the Greek word for faith is? It is not devoid of reason, proof, or evidence. The word is pistis and the definition is conviction of the truth of a belief, belief with the predominant idea of trust or confidence, and also Fidelity and faithfulness, the character of one who can be relied upon. In Acts 17:31 it says "He has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead." The word "proof" in this verse is the Greek word pistis, which is usually translated as faith in the rest of the New testament but here it's translated as either proof or assurance. So faith is not separate or different from proof evidence reason or trust.

According to my music appreciation professor (if I remember correctly) when Rome was throwing Christians in the coliseums, they played very loud, harsh organ music, so to separate themselves from that, the early church did more A cappella style worship, but as time went on and the association with Roman persecution dissolved, churches started using more and more instruments. They were even the ones responsible for keeping music and other arts (like floriculture) alive in the dark ages!

i was raised in a baptist church. i was a devout christian for the first 16 years of my life. in highschool, i got introduced to the "scientific method" and how to use it to test how things worked and was also introduced to logic and logical fallacies. it wasn't until i got introduced to physics and the first law of thermodynamics (matter cannot be created or destroyed, only changed) that i started to question the bible. specifically, "...god created...". given that the 1st law is that matter cannot be created, therefore god would be incapable of "creating" anything. this was the beginning of me learning how to think critically and my eventual exit from religious fallacious thought patterns. the early days were at times actually mentally painful as my cognitive dissonance did not want to "leave god behind". over time, my cognitive dissonance lessened and i slowly learned more and more about the physical (natural) world and saw less and less reason for there to be a or any god(s). years later, i eventually realized there was a word for who i had become when i left religion behind. i had become an atheist. i would not say that a god "cannot" exist. i would only say that i have seen no evidence that supports the claim that one or any does exist. i am the same person i was before i became an atheist. i still love helping people when i can and i believe ALL life is precious. the only difference is that i don't believe in the supernatural/gods.

Two things though: 1. God is by definition all-powerful. If the God of Christianity exists, He can do ANYTHING. Including the impossible. That 'law' doesn't prove that God doesn't exist anymore than - let's say 'humans do not rise from the dead after three days, so God doesn't exist'. In the end it is simply a question of faith, not of logic here, because God is by definition above natural laws (which He created). 2. I'd be very careful in placing all my faith in some rule that - let's be honest - a bunch of men made up after observing a few things for a while. You do not need to be religious to know that we can get things very wrong and continously did so throughout history. Why do you think this rule will surely hold up to scrutiny in the next centuries or even decades? A short while back, we knew that humans would never fly. We knew that violent people were clearly distinguishable from the rest of us simply by looking at their facial features. We knew that sickness is the cause of bad air - miasma - and that small animals could spontanously spawn under the right circumstances in substances like water or flesh. The list goes on, point being: Science can't definitively tell you what is possible and what isn't. It can merely tell you what some people witnessed and deduced from that. Can we create matter from nothing? I believe we cannot and will not be able to do so even in the far future (I'd be hesitant to say I KNOW that though). Can God? Absolutely, of course.
@lonnierh0dgejr41
@lonnierh0dgejr41 Жыл бұрын
@@abcdef-cs1jj if god can do the impossible, then god should be able to create a rock so heavy that he CANNOT lift it. the above statement is fallacious. this is because no matter which way you answer, god will not be able to do one of them and because of that, god will not be all powerful and therefore not a god. this is what i mean by fallacious logic. it's similar to dividing by zero. it doesn't have a logical answer. the only result is "error", just as it would with dividing by zero. you may THINK you understand logic but you do not. science does not deal in absolutes. NOTHING in science is said to be 100% true. this is because what we do understand is always being questioned and updated with newer data as it becomes available. the first law of thermodynamics has withstood repeated and rigorous testing for many years. minor changes may have taken place but the statement "matter cannot be created or destroyed, only changed" remains true. you mentioned faith, which is defined as believing something to be true without evidence to support said thing. without evidence to support a claim, there is no logical reason to believe said claim.
@abcdef-cs1jj
@abcdef-cs1jj Жыл бұрын
@@lonnierh0dgejr41 I'd answer that that is exactly right: God CAN create a rock so heavy that he cannot lift it. And He also can lift that rock. He is simply above our understanding, above the rules of how things work because he created those very rules. Nothing in science can be stated to be true with absolute certainty, I agree. These 'laws' are working hypotheses for people like you and me who observe their surroundings and deduce from there. I'd not base my rejection of God on something so unreliable as that, to be honest. Humans knew that we couldn't possibly fly for millenia and it still turned out to be wrong. We might not see the whole picture. In fact I'd argue we are pretty certain to not see the whole picture. Of course science is still valuable to us in order to work with our environment, create tools etc - but it's not meant to inform phylosophical decisions. That'd be like calculating a math problem to figure out whether to ask your girlfriend to marry you or not. (Funnily enough we tend to do these things and apply principles to the wrong tasks, just as dividing by zero. If you ask an elementary student 'A man has fourteen chickens and two dogs. How old is the man?', he or she will likely hit you with 16 or 12) But I'd disagree with you on a very important point: Faith is not believing something to be true without evidence! Faith is simply believing something. You believing the first rule of thermodynamics to be true is a question of faith. You HAVE evidence that is is true, yet you cannot say it is 100% so, so that's faith. We actually have a lot of evidence that God is real, I think Mike Winger spoke on that topic too, have a look if you're interested!

A lot of wives, in fact probably most (including me) think that their job as a 'helper' is to HELP him be the best version of himself, and we internally translate that to mean, the best version that "I" think is best. When in most cases, the best way to help your husband is to let him be his own man as a son of God and you be the best daughter of God you can be. Helping your husband is not about internal issues, which is the Holy Spirit's sphere, but external ones. His vision, you help with his vision of Kingdom growth ... not who he is as a man. Unless he has asked for your opinion and even then, as women we have to tread lightly because of our natural bent to lean into nurturing (aka, mothering).

I think you gave some really good advice and the only thing I would add. Would be to the adjust the info on her not drinking in frint of her husband or having it in the house. Obviously that is correct but, I really believe she shouldeink at all. For instance my wife also had an addiction issue with alcohol and to support her and not be a stumbling block I don’t not drink at all. In fact, God convicted me that it was sinful for me to do so. Even if I don’t have it in the house or don’t drink around her, if I have a drink with buddies and come home and kiss her with it on my breath. It could absolutely be something that causes her temptation. I would say in most cases it would be sinful for the spouse of an addict to partake in their specific addiction. Does that make sense? I am not saying that is always the case but, I would say it is in the vast majority of cases.

Regarding question #5, I strongly believe that a lot of secular music and media/entertainment is demonic, but not necessarily as in possessed, but as in not godly. Having said that, is it possible for something to not be demonic or godly, but in between? Is it possible for something to be good nor evil, but neutral? I’d have to disagree on this topic. There are people that do exaggerate, but like you said, it’s a serious topic. Taking this lightly is unwise, in my opinion. Just like we dedicate our lives to Christ and present Him our lives, goals and ways, people who work for the enemy do as well. Discernment and wisdom are much required in this situation.

Mike - what are your thoughts on Lower Sheol and Upper Sheol as the “waiting places” until heaven was opened (by Christ) and until judgement day when hell is opened and Satan is sent there?

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit rather in humility value others above yourselves." Philippians 2:3 Live by following Jesus' perfect example. Just as He humbled Himself on the cross to die for us, humble yourself as well. As CS Lewis said "humility is not thinking less about yourself but thinking about yourself less." Also, love your neighbor as yourself. Hopefully this inspired and encouraged you today. God bless you.

If you live by Jesus' example, then you will turn the people around you off so badly that they eventually condemn you to a lonely, painful death. I would suggest that Christians think about this platitude a little bit more before they use it.

I've heard stories from people who had problems with demons in their home after watching horror movies. There's this one regular drama TV show I started watching years ago and nothing seemed bad about it but I had a nightmare from it. My friend watched it later and she woke up screaming. It was so strange. We didnt watch it after that.

The bible tells us multiple times that God is without time (1000 years is like a day, a day is like a 1000 years). In this case, why would we have to ‘wait’ for anything at all? God controls time, He can get us to the ultimate judgement immediately

@35:30, regarding sarcasm... i've got a funny sarcasm story... i worked in seoul korea the summer of 95, and my friend and translator (who helped me communicate around the studio) and i were chatting. i said something sarcastic and she clearly didn't get the humor. this happened enough times that i felt i needed to explain american sarcasm. i said 'when you were a kid, and you were with your friends walking, if one of your friends tripped and fell over, would you laugh and point and say 'way to go?' she looked at me horrified 'NO! i would HELP them!'... that's how i learned koreans aren't generally sarcastic folks... they're LOVELY people, just not really sarcastic. by the time i left for home, she was getting the hang of teasing me, so i rubbed off on her! don't know if i should be proud of that though!

I encounter the “Golden Rule” struggle as a teacher. If I walk into a classroom with a cast on my leg the last thing I want is to have to explain how it happened a thousand times (or even a few lol). However I know that many of my 6th graders want to tell whoever will listen what happened. So if I follow the Golden Rule too literally I’m not showing love to my students (whatever my intention). So basically if I know what the other person would like I try my best to do it. If I don’t know I think of what I would want if the roles were reversed. That’s the best I can do.

Paul was using hyperbole or sarcasm. There is no private prayer language. Can the God, that made the mouth and ears, not understand you in your natural language? If he can understand you in any language then why would he want you to speak in a language that doesn’t benefit your understanding? Eric Clapton: he is famous for his guitar work and was well known for his work in bands that are the roots of rock & rock. He struggled with drug addictions for many years. Finally clean, he wrote his most famous song _”Cocaine.”_ this song documents the deception of cocaine; all the things that are possible but that so much is lost from its grip. And somehow the song has been turned into anthem for its use! Joyous crowds shouting its singular line “COCAINE!” Amazing! So it is with Paul’s letter to the Corinthians; he has clear teachings regarding the appropriate use of tongues and their limited place in the church. He compares them to other gifts and they fall well short of the value of teaching and prophesying. Then, he chucks all of those gifts into a box and says, “but wait!... there’s more.” He goes on to describe that love is a gift that far surpasses any gift, and that this is the gift we should excel in. What is the churches response? It turns Paul’s instructions and admonishments into an anthem that glorifies the use of tongues in a manner that is inconsistent with the teachings of Paul and Jesus. “When I became a man I put away childish things.” When my children were toddlers they sat on my lap and made nonsensical noises. Now that they are adults they sit next to me and speak intelligently on mature topics. Its time to stop being children. In short: grow up!

David Pawson:"A verse in the Bible taken out of context, becomes a pre-text1" David Pawson is a phenomenal teacher, who's focus was studying and teaching to read the Bible book by book and not verse by verse, quoting and selecting as we wish "Doing a full Olsteen on any verse we read or hear!" (Sorry could not let that one go, it was hilarious!). That said, one of Olsteens sermon's was on baking a cake. He taught how God is like a master chef (we are not!). God knows not just the ingredients required for a cake, but how much of each, at which time/order, at what temperature to apply at what stage. AND EVEN IF, something goes wrong, God knows how to fix it, and still turn it into a masterpiece. That was a fabulous Joel Osteen teaching! But yeah other than that one, I don't really buy into his name it and claim it approach! This Q&A style of video, is really really helpful! And thanks to Sarah Zimmerman for the time stamps!
