Maybe I'm crazy, but I've always felt like closets and cabinets reflect your emotional state. If my mind is chaotic and stressed, my closet looks like the entrance to hell. If I take the time to tidy it up/clear out stuff that doesn't belong there, I instantly feel so much lighter and happier.

I so relate to you! I LOVE organized "closed" spaces. A friend once asked me why I was decluttering my cabinet when all I had to do was close the doors so I didn't see the clutter. You get it, don't you? :)

I've been decluttering for the past 3 yrs and I still can't beleive the amount of things I had. I used to be a maximalist and 3 yrs ago I decided to paint my walls white, except for one wall which is bright yellow, and wow what a différence it made! If struck me how cluttered my home looked and I began my decluttering journey. Things are so much easier to find and everything feels more organized and peaceful. My decluttering process was "onion peel" style and I'm still decluttering but it's easier now I've pretty much reached the goal I envisioned! Off topic, that shade of blue looks amazing on you!

I honestly hate decor. I don’t understand the purpose. It’s just more to clean and dust. It’s felt so much better, as if I could breathe more deeply after I took away decor that I had around the house. I didn’t know or realize that this contributed to my anxiety. I don’t like framed family photos either. I already know what my family looks like. 😆 I do have a few decor pieces, mainly potted plants just to make it look like my house is actually lived in - but the toys make double sure of that! lol

This wasn’t mentioned but another thing I can’t stand is the tags on any kind of towels. I think it looks tacky bc they tend to stick out after washing them. I think it looks messy. Be careful about putting pictures over/under other pictures, I know many, many people who have had their pics stick together and ruined the whole lot. My Aunt put the school pictures of her grandchildren on top of one another for years, it was only when she went to sort them that they had in effect melted together. They heat with a wood stove and their home was quite warm (actually HOT). Only the top picture didn't get too marred, all of the others were stuck together (on both sides of the picture) and ripped the photo's to pieces, it was heartbreaking. I learned from her and have since gone to thrift stores, perused the frames and buy only the best of the best -- for future use. As a bonus, was a real financial savings since they sell at a fraction of the cost new and I always have an assortment of sizes & styles to choose from : D

After spending time with family members day after day in nursing homes you realize how much your STUFF means to people . They are in rooms with no color, some have no family pictures or memories of their life to look at. I bring in colored blankets, lots of pictures and cards. If you are happy in white rooms rotating one family photo that is good for you but NOT me. I almost got sucked in but if a sticker on your banana bothers you then I think there is something I am missing. I love my stuff within reason and agree with some things but want my memories around me. I don’t believe that most that share their ideas are REALLY living without things like they want you to do. My thoughts. I still enjoy the videos and ideas but for entertainment purposes only.

Less is more with walls for sure. I like some decor but not much. My husband randomly started hanging posters in our living room and ....no. lol Just no!! He can do whatever in his space. Organize behind a cabinet because it's less stressful to get items...! I always end up with this issue under the kitchen sink and the kitchen cabinets. Especially is we are feeling rushed. The kitchen is easier because with proper containers it's easy to reach. Tbh I am not cool with getting on the floor everytime I need in my bathroom cabinets (under the sink). So I end up just tossing stuff back down there. We get a decent amount of BIG shampoos and lotions. I'm trying to find out ways to take advantage of open cabinet space in the one bathroom....so wasted. We rent otherwise I'd be adding doors to it! Our kid has a mental disability and gets into everything and anything which has helped us declutter....but we have a lot of wasted space as well. I LOVE the idea to spray paint the bins! We were going to use lockable bins in the space but I wasn't sure...they wouldn't look good. But now I'm excited to try it! In art class a long time ago we learned the ideal grouping that's pleasant to the eyes is 3! So that makes sense 😁

I found putting my three favorite photos in the cupboard where I have my coffee cups is so nice - every time I get my coffee cup - I see my 3 favorite pics of my kids behind cupboard 🚪 doors- but they are not on display in the outside kitchen area. It just feels personal but organized 😄

De-cluttering my wall is a big problem because I'm an artist and I like to look at my work.
@AMcDub07083 жыл бұрын
Then that isn’t clutter. It’s beauty. Your definition of clutter doesn’t have to be the same as everyone else’s. However if you truly want to minimize what’s on your wall, maybe put a few or even one of your pieces on the wall and rotate out every month. Then it would draw the eye to really appreciate that one piece and all the nuances of it instead of 20 pieces as one big whole

That color looks beautiful 😍 on you! That’s definitely your color. On my screen it looks like periwinkle. Just lovely! I switch my pics out according to season typically. I have 4 children and LOTS of pics so I also have a collage of framed pics in my hallway. You see them if you walk to the bedrooms or bathrooms but when you’re sitting to relax they’re far out of sight. Great tips as always! Thank you! ❤️

The tip for an uncluttered entry really resonated with me because, mine gets cluttered easily. First time I saw your video, liked it 😊

Aldi off white sun blocking curtains $7.99 each. Mason jars get at thrift shops cheap. I USED to live throw pillows SO PEOPLE CAN TOSS THEM OFF THE BED AND SOFA WHYYYY??? D U M B OF ME!! Hate photos on the walls. I LOVE NOW everything Scandanavian white, off white, beige. NO COULOURS PLEASE! 👎 ADHD it distracts you to have that one colored wall or that " spot of colour" in your living room.

I got rid of the area rugs in the kitchen, hallway, and 1 in my bedroom. Now it's so much easier to mop the floors and these areas looks more open and airy.

Funny thing, one of my biggest pet peeves was going to someone's house and seeing baby photos on the walls, while the kids are older elementary age.

Love everything but white walls. While it is clean looking, it just seems like lack of creativity for me. Give me soft colors
