So he didn't speak English when he got into the show???!! And now he speaks almost like a native English speaker?! Wow. I know it's been like 4 years since but even so, some people really struggle with English through their whole life. Here you can see that the effort you put into something, really makes the difference 👏👏👏👏👏
@hopet25524 жыл бұрын
@H. Kirk 😂😂😂 the comments on this video have me dying. Most native English speakers sound like we’re in a speed race to get our words out or we need to yell everything in order for you to hear us. Lol.
@hopet25524 жыл бұрын
@H. Kirk must be nice. We start taking a foreign language in high school and then two years at university here. It’s a part of the curriculum. I wish we started in elementary school but we are full of people who scream, “This is America, speak English” to ever be that evolved. Sad but true. I’m in the process of learning German right now. I was born there but have lived in the states most of my life. I hope to return permanently one day in the near future though. To me, German (and Danish) actually sound a lot like English, I can read German pretty well and when it’s spoken to me I, for the most part, can understand it. However, I still have a ways to go with feeling like I DON’T HAVE a potato in my mouth or that I’m not butchering it before I feel comfortable speaking it.
@hopet25524 жыл бұрын
@H. Kirk oh no they do...I used to live in that insane state. My city was decent but it was a university town and more progressive but I hear that phrase repeatedly in Florida. Glad to hear I made you laugh...I heard recently that sarcasm started in Denmark? If that’s a fact, I’d blend in perfectly. 😂🙋🏻♀️ Honestly though, I can’t wait to move back to Europe. I miss it so damn much.
@rhs28814 жыл бұрын
@H. Kirk Potato in the mouth --- that comment..😅😅 LOL So Mr. Alex speaks Danish, German and English you reckon?!.. PS- Never thought I'd research Denmark so much 😅😁🤭
@Abby-us5ee3 жыл бұрын
He was never that great at English? Could have fooled me! He doesn't give himself enough credit with his linguistic skill. I know two other languages and when I use the term "I know" it means I know how to read, write, and understand. However .speaking in another language is a different ball game that I have difficulty with. Point is this eprson needs to give himself way more credit than he does because as an American I feel free to go to any EU country with absolutely no knowledge of their tongue. And that is not cool.

I've watched this, and compared it to a few later interviews and videos with Alex Hogh Andersen, and he's actually gotten better looking over the past year or so...broader shoulders, less of a baby face, and (judging from the trailer for the second half of the season) even a little bit of body hair. Alex Hogh appears to be a very gifted young man not just in looks, but in talent (he might best be compared to a youthful Viggo Mortensen or perhaps Johnny Depp with Nicholas Cage's eyes) and I hope he has a long, illustrious and varied career!

Something that underscores just what a good actor he is: This young man is lovely to look at, but there's no way I could find Ivar attractive. He takes manly aggression, to which I AM attracted, and turns it into a twisted rage that has his soul mirroring his body, and you can see both just as clearly. I would probably enjoy the company of Alex Hogh, but my blood would run cold with terror if Ivar's eyes turned my way.
@sarahgray4306 жыл бұрын
Hanh...to my mind Ivar's "manly aggression" is just sublimated sexual frustration with a touch of leftover Oedipal fixation. In layman's terms, either he's pissy because he can't get it up or he can't get it up because he's too pissy! All the same, the fact that Alex Hogh (who seems to be almost angelically sweet and pure and innocent in his interviews) can play such a twisted freak is a testament to his acting skills!
@supernova78482 жыл бұрын
@@sarahgray430 yes ! The part where he falls off his chariot with his face covered in blood and screaming “I am Ivar the boneless “ is truly terrifying! .. he’s says most of that scene for him was improvised , so when you watch his body language and the faces he makes, that’s part of himself because he says he was also reacting to all the noise and all the people screaming at him !.. so it sort of builds up adrenaline, l guess he has tap into his dark side or at least allow himself to explore that part of of his inner self in order to portray that type of character convincingly ! The real Ivar the boneless was a Berserker , the warriors known for their ferocity in battle and who fight in a trance- like fury . Alex’s portrayal of Ivar in a hypnotic trance screaming off the top of his head and gesticulating is just phenomenal, especially when you see how sweet and soft spoken his demeanor really is when he’s just being Alex

I'm old enough to be his mother, and yet I still think Alex Hogh Anderson is obscenely hot, as is the other Alexander on Vikings. They offer a wonderful physical contrast to one another (one slim and dark, the other massive and fair-complexioned) and are both really good actors. Every time I see them together I picture them in a Due South reboot for some strange reason (others might picture something less savory, but should keep such ideas to themselves) and I hope they both have illustrious careers, both on Vikings and afterwards!
