I come from a family of pretty mellow people. At work, I once was criticized for being too 'water off a duck' and not getting angry about anything. It was supposed to be a negative, but I took it as the best compliment ever. I have no desire to yell - it stresses me out when others do. It takes time to change. But it can be done. My husband used to yell and get angry. He worked at it and is a calmer person now. It takes time and conscious effort, but you can do it.

I suffered from panic attacks for years now and after I embraced slow living my life has been so much better. I do things on my own terms and I don't let anyone dictate how fast I go . My anxiety has gone way down and I am loving life once again. Thanks for this video it is the best way to live 🙌

i purposely park further away at stores for the walk, drive in the slow lane, have my drive home with no music/podcast or anything- to revisit the day. there’s a lot of power in the small things. thank you Gabe!

Slow living for me has been implementing an early morning walk each day before work. On weekends I’ll walk to the coffee shop and indulge a bit. Walking is one of the simplest forms of exercise and really helps slow things down. Double benefit!

I learned to follow the speed limit when I moved to the country 😁I now live where we have wildlife show up on the highway often enough to remember to slow down less accidents and I now apply that to daily life just slow down ❤ We are a country of speed is success but not really when you slow down and start living a slower pace! I no longer miss the sunsets 🌅

When you guys are ready to start your children in school, I highly recommend homeschooling! It compliments our minimalist life so well. My husband also works from home and I get the joy of homeschooling our children, while working on my art on the side! I think you guys would LOVE it!

What does home schooling entail? Do you need tutors for difficult subjects like math etc?
@kadieschaefer2874
@kadieschaefer2874 Ай бұрын
@@noopurkulhari2787 It depends on what state you live in as far as rules/regulations/requirements. However, most families use a variety of curriculum per grade and subject to assist in the teaching. There are also tons of wonderful resources if a parent needs additional support in subjects like advanced math, etc. Homeschooling isn't for everyone, but it can be a wonderful way to educate!

I always look forward to your videos! Thanks for sharing the "past" version of you and the current version. It's inspiring to be reminded that we CAN grow and change. We are never stuck in behavior patterns that don't serve us anymore! I'm going to adopt the "do 5 minutes of nothing." I've never been good at meditating - but I believe I can do five minutes of nothing and I believe in the benefit it will cause. Slowing down needs to be intentional, bit by bit in your life. I tried following the speed limit for one day... I nearly lost my mind on the highway; however, I'm much more calm following the speed limit off the highway. The flow of traffic is slow and I used to get annoyed. Now I embrace! Please continue to make these videos! You're literally changing lives!!

I implement most of these tips and agree that yes, they really help. Some family members could do with watching less news, but I’m glad there are options to not have to participate as much. I think being informed is fine, but after a few minutes- no thank you, I’m okay on what else is going on the rest of the day. Want to go outside and enjoy the fresh fall air on a walk, or things like that. At least just personally, but no offense to anyone who enjoys watching a ton of TV/news. I tolerate it because I have to, but in my own home, no, it will be much more quiet.

I agree with letting go of politics. We have no control over what happens, so why stress over it? However, what do you do when the three closest people to you are wrapped up in politics? I can't walk away, trying to change the subject doesn't work, nor does telling them it's of no interest to me.

@volunteerworker

Depends on if it helps your lifestyle or not. Financial minimalism for us, is zero subscriptions. Not for music, not for TV/movies, not for food. Nothing. I can catch a lot of things for free and full episodes of stuff or movies I want to watch on KZbin. May have short ads every few videos, but I can do the same for music listen to it uninterrupted mostly. And, there are free apps on the smart TV that you can watch different things. I have a DVD binder and portable DVD player to watch specific movies or series whenever I feel, for free (considering the subscription you have to pay for monthly, DVDs are buy once for life). For us, we've saved so much money over the years and even though we still struggle we aren't in debt over it. That's the freedom that works in our lifestyle. It won't be the same for others.
