for anyone too lazy to watch it all like me 😭 : 1. use lighter paint 2. get rid of furniture u don’t need 3. put up art 4. use low-heighted furniture 5. use small table lamps instead of floor lamps 6. use transparent furniture or light colored furniture 7. remove headboard off bed and put shelves above bed instead 8. use mirrors 9. use foldable furniture 10. use shorter curtains/drapes 11. avoid unnecessary items 12. put curtain pole high above the window 13. light colored bedsheets 14. keep the flow together depending on vertical or horizontal (not sure how to explain, skip to 5:27) 15. keep organized 16. keep the side table, dresser, and bed in the same size scale 17. paint on wall trim should be lighter than the wall 18. visual coherence between the wall rug and other decor 19. transparent furniture again..? 20. try to keep things small and use multi-purpose furniture

How to make smaller spaces look larger - lite colors, furniture off the floor or on legs so you can visually see the floor, lights on the wall as to not clutter tables, wall hanging side tables/desks/entertainment centers, etc. The french cleat way of hanging furniture on walls leaving floor space open is awesome! I live in a tiny space and have applied all the things I have listed and it makes a world of difference.

Trying to figure out how the beautiful white bed at 7:52 would be made up exactly. Does it have a regular mattress directly on a platform? If so, does the mattress have to be lifted up to put on a fitted sheet? Is the flat sheet pulled taut & tucked straight down inside the bed frame? Is that a mattress topper I see with some type of coverlet or thin comforter tucked in around it? Sorry if these are dumb questions but I’ve never seen a bed made this way before. Any answers appreciated!

How are table lamps supposed to save floor space when you have to have a table or something to set it on? And also, having your bed on the floor isn't that great for someone who has chronic back problems and/or Vertigo. Getting up out of the floor is always fun with the room is spinning like you are on a merry-go-round.
@20d884 жыл бұрын
The logic is straight forward. A table lamp could 'save' space vs a 'floor lamp & a night table' combo, because the table lamp could be put on top of the night table. * The rooms here cant spin, not enough budget.

Actually, I ABSOLUTELY agree re. what's on the walls: People frame tiny photos you can't see properly, or they make these collages of TINY photos you have to squint to see anyone in. In the end, they DO JUST CLUTTER UP THE SPACE. Also, please, people... can we STOP buying 'art' (NOT!!!) at the grocery store. You spend thousands on tech that you have to replace in a couple of years (we used to be AGAINST obsolescence). There are Artists YOU KNOW; buy something from them (but it has to be something you LOVE!!!).

Actual tip: If you can afford it, add mirrors! Putting a mirror on a wall will make it seem like you have more space because of the effect it has. It almost works for all rooms, if you wanna add one though add it to the side that the door is close to, if your door is in the center of the wall add the mirror to the side of the room with less clutter and windows. Not in front of the door because I know some of you observe Feng shui.

I'm seeing a lot of beds in all kinds of videos where the mattress is directly on a platform. I come from the ole "mattress/box springs/metal frame w/rollers" generation - or at least that's pretty much the way all beds I ever had as a child and purchased as an adult were sold. I can't stand the metal frames on which I've bruised my legs multiple times over the years. Some bed manufacturers act like it's treason to buy a box spring. Rethinking this entire set up. Think I'll ditch the frame and see what a box spring w/mattress feels like first.
@jay-sg2wt5 жыл бұрын
I ditched my frame a while ago- I feel like just the box spring and mattress makes the room look cuter (?¿) I put my bed in a corner of my room so it's not in the way. I actually like this a lot more than having the frame.
@JenniferHudy3 жыл бұрын
Did you end up just putting the boxspring on the floor? I felt like I could have written your comment and feel the same way about how many times i've bruised myself on it!!
@SonshineLady73 жыл бұрын
@@JenniferHudy Hi Jennifer! I ended up with a new (to me) bed! My neighbor and good friend moved back to her home state, sold what she could, donated the rest, and only took the clothes and personal possessions she could pack in her jeep. She did the same thing when she moved here; however, she did purchase a new bed so when I heard she was moving, I put "dibs" on it. I now have a queen size bed (the one I had was a twin) that is considered a "hybrid" - box springs and mattress all in one piece that is placed on a metal frame, but not the same type as the old-style frame and nowhere as heavy. This frame can easily be taken apart and its main purpose is likely to just keep the other piece off the floor. The bed is less than a year old and is WONDERFUL! I put my twin bed/box springs/frame up on a national site called Freecycle.com. One can filter for local cities/towns and either place items on it that one wants to give away or place a request for something one needs/wants and someone may have to give away. Within just a few days of placing my ad it was taken by a young woman who wanted it for her 10-year-old son and she was so excited to get it.
