I used to love living by myself. I could be as social as I wanted but being able to come back home and decompress was invaluable. If I was lonely, all I had to do was call my friends or take a walk. You’ll love it! Your apartment is beautiful, a clean slate!

When I first moved out by myself, i felt the exact same way. I missed my family so much. But at the same time it was a blessing, felt like I had space to think and organize and really just excited to be myself. Totally relatable though but you seem like you got a strong head on your shoulder! Congrats!

I'm literally so excited to see how you decorate your new space! It was pretty amazing to be able to see how the previous tenant styled and decorated for inspo. I always find it so interesting to see a blank slate apartment versus a space that someone has settled into.

i loved living by myself! Totally feel the same way! I'm an extroverted introvert. So I can be very social outside the house but then i've had my fill of socializing and like to come home, be alone, recharge and have the place to myself.

I love living by myself. It’s so great that I can just be myself in my own space. I don’t work from home and my family is within a two block radius in the town I live in. So it’s nice when I don’t have to cater to anyone but myself.

My experience living alone in college has been conflicting- I don't have friends here (the 2 I had went back to their home countries, and my family lives in another continent) and since the pandemic had been going on there isn't a chance to meet new people. Its been depressingly lonely at times... but I will say having my own space is refreshing.

I graduated right before the pandemic and was also very worried about finding post-grad friends :( Hopefully things will get better and there will be more organic opportunities for us to meet more people as the world starts to heal. Rooting for us!

I had a similar experience with my mattress - doing whatever to compress it down and vac-seal it. But I got a small hole in the bag and you know how that went :/ Haha! I love watching your videos about your move. I'm thinking about moving to NYC, so it's been very helpful!

Yes, i also call my mum when moving! I am actually in my moving process between Italy and England, but I will be back to Italy next summer as this is my favourite spot on the planet! I would love to spend a week or so in NY as well, I was always fascinated by that city! Great vlog Giulia! xx

I'm not sure about the price but I've seen a lot of people buy the desk that elevates I'm not sure how you call it lol but you can raise it for when you wanna stand and then put back down when you want to sit and it's supposed to help with your back and neck since it can be adjusted.....hope it helps 😅👉🏻👈🏻

Aloha! Your apartment search video popped up on my feed, so I thought I'd check out what apt. hunting is like in NYC. It's so expensive! I thought Hawai'i had high prices, but they don't compared to NYC. I'm so happy for you that you FINALLY found a nice Place. You seem like an intelligent young lady so I decided to subscribe to see how it goes for you. I remember those days. My first apartment I was only 16. I'm 58 now and live on a Marina in east Honolulu. A far cry from where I started out. Anyways, this isn't about me, it's about you! I'll get caught up on your videos to see how it's going. With Ikea being out of stock on a lot of items, secondhand furniture places have really upped prices. Amazon, Overstock, Walmart, and Wayfair have become clutch. Haven't had an issue with the quality of my furniture yet, but I try to buy solid pieces with warranties 😅.

Not sure if I missed this in the video but what made you go for used furniture vs new? If you don't find anything used that you like, will you eventually get new or just keep looking? Did you have a budget for furnishing your apartment? Do you plan on essentially getting everything all at once or just slowly acquire items? Looking forward to seeing your apartment journey.

I think as a young person, buying gently used furniture is smart. I bought new and after I paid for it on credit i was ready for a change. My next and future purchases will be gently and well cared for used furniture.

The biggest factor for buying used is definitely because it’s much more wallet friendly! And there are so many well maintained things that you can find too. I’m taking furniture shopping slow and am open to buying both new and used things ☺️

You have no idea how easy you kids have it these days. We were lucky to find clean apartments 40/50 yrs ago. I painted many a place just to get it before the landlord had to clean it....mostly always got it for cleaning and or painting. Of course the rent still sounds astronomical these days.
