People are accountable for their own actions. When someone disrespects me for no reason, it says more about them than about me.I respond by denying them any futher access to my personal space.Empathy and kindness might work in certain situations with certain people but, many will take it as weakness and a free pass to disrespect you even more.

I agree, war and empire building is different to the petty non life threatening crap we deal with in a workplace. You deal with disrespect in that moment and if you need to pull that person apart in front of others you must do it with some interest on top. Otherwise they own you and you know it. Never fear confrontation it's the best way to test the courage of your own convictions. If you are not prepared to do this, enjoy living for someone else's convictions. Fuck that.

Very well said and that is the right way to handle it, especially with someone who does not know you well and you don't have history with. They have shown who they are and if you continue to give them access they will do it again and again, expecting you to eventually allow their nonsense.

I have been walking the path of stoicism for a while now. I have held up in many ways the principles I've learned. Today I felt disrespected and I lost my composure and exploded. I apologized for my behavior and reaction and from that realization and personal recognition I returned to this lesson to help myself handle it better in the future. I'm thankful for the opportunity to check my growth and continue moving forward in a positive way. Thank you for the video and I'll keep moving forward in a more controlled way. Refreshing stoic

I used to take it personally when someone was disrespectful to me out of nowhere. I didn't understand why I was being attacked totally unprovoked. I was often stunned silent. Not addressing disrespectful behavior isn't ok. Now I understand there are people who simply enjoy pushing people around. It's important to discern their intent in that moment of contemplation before responding. If someone is being a bully it's important to immediately, strongly let them know you wont tolerate disrespect. Calmly, assertively putting them in their place. Developing the ability to respond effectively in difficult situations is a very important skill.

Instead of work relationships, some of these situations are family. Often times, I’ve calmly brought up the disrespect of their actions. The response is an “OMG”, or maybe a “oh mom”. I have been building on my inner peace for years. I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Being of a quiet nature has its challenges……I have a keen sense of intuition and discernment….

Being that stoicism started around 300 B.C.E It’s amazing that even through technological advancements, We as humans always suffer from the same problems of our own emotions as did those from the Roman Empire. Even today that such old knowledge is still able to be used to help us understand ourselves.

My view has always been…”As if your opinion of me matters…I like me just fine” I started doing this when I was a kid with my bullies…I would laugh at them when they flew insults at me for what ever reason that their simple minds were choosing to be disgusting human beings on any given day. I had so much disapproval of their actions and enough confidence in myself to realize that they had the problem, not me, because “I liked me just fine.” I always knew that they were in the wrong. I would even seek them out and ask them if they had any other dumb things to say today and mock them for their ignorant stupidity. Yes..I got the crap kicked out me from time to time, but, most of the time when they saw that they couldn’t bother me and that I thought less of them than they thought of me…it wasn’t fun for them anymore, so these weak minded people would usually give up…and..I would still like me just fine. Be well.

@@SIERRATREES Oh, I don’t know about it being a gift, it was more anger in the sense of “Who the feck do you think you are!!?” kind of attitude if anything. They were losers in my view, so I didn’t think that I should have to put up with losers. It took me a few beatings by my bullies to get angry enough to tell them what I thought of them in front of the other people. I just learned how to make them look stupid, which wasn’t hard, and make the bystanders laugh at them and and agree with me. Bullies aren’t usually that bright and most of them are insecure so, it’s pretty easy to make them look like the fools that they are. Be well.

My sister, told me today that God told her all my crops will dry out. She said I need to learn to talk to God before I make decisions. She told me this is what God told her to tell me. & I just quit my job to start a business, & it was discouraging to hear her say that to me. Mind you I just lend my sister money the other day, I take her son to school and her to work every morning because she doesn’t drive. She even told me to lower my standards. She doesn’t drive, she’s living paycheck to paycheck, and her boyfriend is living with her rent-free. She spent her Mother’s Day at work, and I came over this morning to drive my nephew to school and to drop off a Mother’s Day gift, and fell into a discouraging conversation with her. Ima pray about this but it’s difficult knowing she said that.

Forgive in leave it in God’s Hands, believe in Him with all your heart and He will repay: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, o“if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Romans 12:19-21

A soulful messeage, will take heed forever...🙏 Yrs ago, ccupied an extremely respectful, lucrative position, but for the safety of our Police Officers i resigned...(Attempted all methods for rational)---co-worker, henrete, refused to respond to my requests for info for many yrs...This was ignored by officials as "it" was a political hire 4 eoe & not score standards...Truth known, i maintained sanity & dignity by exiting...(apologuze for rambling)...

All my life i don't have family issues like disrespecting me or friends. Only from work. I've been a doormat for many years afraid of getting fire and just except the disrespect and rudeness behaviors from colleagues and just close my eyes and ears. Not anymore i defend myself and tell them as it is. Or i just ghosted them.Works for me. But this philosophy provided me how to REALLY handle the situations in the correct manner ( professionally) i will utilize some of the content on here whomever disrespect me at work. I hope it works lol. Great video! Thank you

Stumbled on this, and i am so happy! I tend to be emotional and am working my way up the corporate ladder and the disrespect I have encountered has left me floored and frankly unsure how to handle it. Except responding in a negative manner. I usually get them back. You have a new follower, as I appreciate your content in this video. The explanations made sense. I will start putting it into practice today. Ty

I’m am learning it is very much so I have used these and had been called weak for me not giving equal disrespect. But my soul is the righteous one that told me maybe they were underestimated by the fact most people endured their behavior and much less not gave the same energy to then not knowing what to do with themselves. I thank you for your education ❤️🙏

I think an important stoic position was missed in this powerful video. I believe it was Marcus Aurelius that stated something to the effect that, picture someone slapping your face rudely. Now picture this happening all day long, over and over. Now you will be ready for those rude people that will inevitably come into your life. The point here is "preparedness." For me, being prepared is the single most critical factor in overcoming any difficult situation. MarkMannM2
