I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!
Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.
Thanks for watching!

3000 Years of Longing is absolutely excellent. And Babylon is sure to become a cult fave. And Apocalypto is SO much better than Mel "Hates Jews" Gibson deserves. Saw Jacobs Ladder many moons ago, strange and really good. I'm finally going to watch the Jesse James, 3:10 to Yuma since my girlfriend went back to Switzerland so westerns are on the menu again, and I'll give Bones and All a shot as well and Devil's Backbone because Del Toro is amazing. Oh and I'll look into the Babble link too, because eventually I'm moving to Switzerland too Thanks for an amazing list!

(Quite Possibly) The BEST Film Out of this list is 3,000 Years of Longing.. Not Only does it Posses (Rather) Staggeringly GORGEOUS Visuals - but (for those Willing and Interested in Participating) the Script is *MASSIVELY,* BEAUTIFULLY Intellegent As Well.. A Mental Saw-Mill Calibre Film.. . ... .. Several Others that are BOTH Visually and Intellegently, Intellectually Amazing, Beautiful, Gorgeous, and Transportive;: A Very Long Engagement - Broken Circle Breakdown - Revenge - The Survivalist - Never Gonna Snow Again - A Lonely Place to Die - Largo Winch - Largo Winch II (The Burma Conspiracy) - Empire of Light - The Whistlers - Savages - Dreamland - Enemy - Mr Nobody - Burning Man - Monday - Adore - Ain't Them Bodies Saints - Cloud Atlas - Blade Runner 2049 - The Congress - The Master - The Batman - (possibly) Dead Man Down - (possibly) Trance -

Amadeus is one of my all-time favorite movies, period. A masterclass in getting into the mind of a villain, i.e. Salieri. The Assassination of Jesse James... has been on my radar after watching Blonde. Gonna have to check that out. No Country for Old Men is a sharp reminder for movie buffs that The Coen Brothers can do serious drama better than almost anyone, even if some moviegoers have gotten too hung up on O Brother and their other comedies, etc.

Battleship is the greatest movie ever made, and so compelling I tried to join the Navy but they said I had already been there, done that in 1964 and they had had enough. Still, when Rihanna points the 5" gun at the alien's face and says "Mahalo Mothuf*****," and blows his head to talcum powder, that was so cool.

Ghost in the Shell is a masterwork and the live-action remake like most adapted from legendary anime is a sacrilegious desecration of the art of the originals. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is fantastic and by the end you're glad the long title calls out the Coward Robert Ford. From #12 to #1 I concur all are epic feasts for the eyes maybe in a different order, but that's just personal.

The bell will always be set to ring with you Darren. You not only set us up with truly amazing movies, you SO often remind me of (among the thousands?) movies, the rare gems that I somehow forget to revisit. Lord of War, I remember seeing in the theater and loving it. On top of all that you often surprise me with something that slipped passed my radar and light me up with something to look forward to. I've never seen The Devil's Backbone but trusting you always, I'll be fixing that soon. I just really want to thank you for consistently giving us your best while being honest with certain genres that have not captured you, without trashing them dismissively. I agree. I usually add 10-15 ratings points to Mel Gibson’s movies for all the unwarranted hatred he gets. It is loosely based (the second half) on The Naked Prey with Cornel Wilde. The sets and acting is stunning. I always watch this movie with subtitles. I find the native language very sonorous. Good Pick! As an aside I usually subtract 20 points from Christopher Nolan movies. I deem Dunkirk a disaster and travesty. He has too many fanboys padding the ratings.

Great list! How could you have left off Blade Runner 2049??? As far as visually stunning, I can't think of one any better. You could almost freeze frame any part of the movie and hang it on your wall.

Jacob's ladder is one of the best movies ever made. Just an incredibly original film.

I didn't like Interstellar the first time I saw it because of the emotionalism, so I watched it 6 more times just to be sure I didn't miss anything and now it's one of my favorite top 5 Sci Fi flicks of all time. I think it's better than 2001 a Space Odyssey. Everly is incredible, I love Salma Hayek. Jacob's Ladder I watched as a teenager for the first time back in the 80's on HBO. It was impressive to me back then but I don't think it has aged well in my opinion. Interesting, but someone needs to make an upgrade. Babylon I didn't like, I didn't hate it exactly but I didn't love it either. I thought it was too long and drawn out, it started out good but got tedious and self indulgent towards the end, after the first hour and a half, I was more than ready for it to be over. I will probably, watch it a couple more times....probably. No Country for Old Men is a masterpiece. It's just an excellent movie. I like Sicario 1 and 2 as well. Gladiator is just a classic, a stone cold classic. Nothing like it. Lord of War I saw when I was a teen and I still like it. Any Nick Cage movie really. 3:10 to Yuma with Christian Bale, Ben Foster, and Russell Crowe, incredible remake of an excellent western, better than the original. Apocalypto is unique, it's a one of a kind movie and a phenomenal film. I've seen it 4 times. Maverick was badass, I loved it. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Bob Ford was awesome. Seen that 3 times. Amadeus is rare cinematic art, I still have it on VHS and DVD. It's an awesome movie. I have seen it too many times to count. Battleship is badass, saw that 3 times. Great alien invasion movie. Lost City of Z I haven't seen, Ghost in the Shell I saw the flick with Scarlett Johansson but not the cartoon, didn't like it but like her, Bones and All never saw, The Devil's Backbone I never saw, Facing Monsters looks awesome, I want to see that one. You have good taste in movies dude.

I really liked Bones and All. It’s one of those movies that are kinda slow but you can’t look away. The Lost City of Z is really good too. The real story is just as crazy. That guy was just insane. Been meaning to watch The Devils Backbone for a while now. Starting it now.
