Did you know there are more sheep than people in #Ireland? Did you know #Irish invented submarine? Here are 20 Things nobody told you before moving to Ireland that we bet you never knew!
There are a million-and-one fun facts about Ireland dotted around the web, but we’ve narrowed our guide to the most interesting and unusual Irish facts! This is more than just a journey to the Cliffs of Moher or a dance to the rhythm of its traditional music. There's so many things I didn't know before moving to Ireland and living in Ireland. We are delving into rich Irish history in this one so get comfortable and enjoy!
Ireland has a rich history and culture that most of us learn about from an early age. The Irish people potentially have a history that spans back as far as 12,000 years ago, when the first evidence of human life was found in some remains in Ireland. From all the way back then to today, Irish folklore, traditions, language and society have developed to form the Ireland we know today.
Ireland is the birthplace of many internationally recognised traditions and symbols, such as St. Patrick’s Day, Guinness and the shamrock, which constitute a big part of how others view the country. However, there are many things about Ireland that aren’t widely known, such as the meaning of the Irish flag or the country’s official national symbol. Want to find out more about the Emerald Isle?
We hope you all enjoy this one and we shall see you all next week.
Cheers! 🍺

😂 Lorraine's description of the steak completely had me chuckling. 😂 My 3rd daughter a chef and good a tofu stew. You wouldn't know it wasn't meat. She's a chef and taught me to make a delicious tofu & green veg soup with a squeeze of lemon or lime in it. So good! 😋 talking about seaweed, do you make your own tofu? Gosh that Cork festival sounds fun....grin, the matchmakers festival to find an old farmer.. We have an annual folk festival in our town over a period of 4 days.. that's where I learnt to do the Virginia reel, Strip the Willow, Pride of Erin and the heel and toe polka.. 👣

Random question for yourselves. I'm trying to get my daughter to consider going to University in Ireland, but she saw some negative posts about how people in the LGBTQ community are treated there and fears it might not be as warm and friendly as I keep telling her. What have you seen? Are people targeted and shamed in public? I seriously can't imagine the Irish people getting up in arms at two blokes, or two girls holding hands in public.

I personally have never seen anything like that in Galway. People are very openly gay here and it is perfectly normal. There are also several openly "gay" bars in Galway with LGBT flags in front of them and as far as I know there are no problems with that here. I might be wrong but that is my personal experience.

Honestly I don’t think it’s any better than it was, judging just by what I hear from people. But I also don’t check daft and other sites so I may be wrong.

When I was in New Bridge I found that the majority of Irish men and I agree politically. The social media has effectively removed the majority of our stronger voices because it is extremely anti-male, anti-masculinity. There truly is a female Ireland and a male Ireland only the males are now being oppressed into silence. I hear them. I want to be their brother. Frustration in life is nothing new. I was unaware of Ireland when the US was siding with Britain and Ireland's voice went unheard. Even today, although kind, most Americans think of the Irish as they do Pets. I´m not like that. I married Irish and I understand not being heard, first as gay and now, just as a man. If you´re Irish and have ever thought about living in Spain or the US, this white boy wants to be your friend. I don´t want your money, fanny o nothing less than to share life, and help you find who is compatible with you. I have no product, only brotherhood.
