New Orleans is great. However, true Cajun country is more rural in the Atchafalaya Swamp and the prairies around Lafayette westward toward Lake Charles.

Tip. Don't wait to long , I did regarding another beautiful historic city"Savannah" . The point is you've lost many years, experience by yourself or with others. Do it , and not in 5 years , sooner, .P.S. see Savannah too. Best time when the weather is in the 70's-80's., February-April
