There are 5 records displayed on the wall in Rob's apartment, which can be seen briefly after Laura leaves at the beginning of the movie. We can assume that these are Rob's personal Top 5 Favorite Albums, although this is not one of the "top 5" topics discussed over the course of the film. These records (from left to right) are "Maggot Brain" by Funkadelic, "Tonight's the Night" by Neil Young, "Wild Honey" by The Beach Boys, "Goo" by Sonic Youth, and "Double Nickels on the Dime" by Minutemen.

Tim Robbins didn't have a cameo in the film, he had a supporting role in the film. A cameo is a short scene. As in 1 brief scene, not multiple short scenes. Tim Robbins was in more than one scene.

And from the moment this vid begins, it was as though I was back home back then. I'd love to know who the producer of this is...The Chandlers Notebook was the NS staple. I'm impressed.

In the film, when referring to his ex, Rob says the line: “Some people never got over Vietnam or the night their band opened for Nirvana. I guess I never got over Charlie.” But in the book the lines is - “the night their band opened for Dr. Feelgood” I much prefer the books reference as the whole point of the Championship Vinyl workers is that they are Music snobs so it makes far more sense they’d reference Dr. Feelgood over Nirvana (also when you consider Barry mocks Rob for choosing a Nirvana track on one of his top 5 lists for being to mainstream, just a few minutes later further proves my point as to why that reference feels out of place)
@michaelgillman2505 Жыл бұрын
The conversation between Rob and Barry is two music snobs verbally sparring, which is why Nirvana is seen as 'obvious'. The monologue you are talking about is to do with someone not being able to get over a major event in their lives, always living in the shadow of that event. So while the Feelgood reference absolutely makes more sense if you are Rob, if you are trying to get this point across to an audience, using Nirvana instead is much better.

I read the book after seeing the movie a few times. I was surprised to find in the book that Laura had no lines. I don't think she actually had a conversation with Rob the entire book. I could be wrong, but point still valid. Laura in the movie has tons more dialog than the book.
