My garden just started producing like crazy finally I have lord of varieties of tomatoes all green close to ripen an soon I’ll be able to add more lol 😂 I have one bed ready to go can’t wait ! I like your channel I don’t find many other KZbinrs that I can relate to, often it’s the same thing repeatedly from one person to the next. You however add your own spin I love it thank you 😊 it’s pleasant to listen to you while I decide what I grow next

Question about tomatoes. I harvested 1 so far that turned a beautiful bright red. Two other ones were red but on the bottom turned brown and flat on the vine. I bought these Bonnie bush tomatoes from Home Depot. Am I watering too much?
@StoneyAcresGardening2 жыл бұрын
@@arlishaedwards4850 That is called blossom end rot. There are a few different causes but the most common is inconsistent watering. Be sure to keep your plants on a good schedule, keep the soil evenly moist without being water logged.

Right on! Working on amending soil/replanting as we harvest our summer crops. So far, we've planted more: 5 varieties of lettuce, spinach, carrots, peas, squash, zucchini, cucumber, celery, rosemary, cilantro, and thyme for fall harvest. Still to plant as we pull up more of our summer harvest: Kale, purslane, parsley, swiss chard, and more spinach. We're also preparing our dedicated basement grow room for overwinter indoor gardening. It didn't go exceptionally well last winter, but I learned a lot (first attempt at indoor gardening). Hopefully this winter will be more productive indoors. Best to you & yours!

Second year my seeds were junk! Everyone in my area (other than farmers) is complaining. August 2 and I haven’t gotten a tomato, very few squash, zero cukes. The onions are the only ones which have produced. It’s like they’re all stunted! And, the bugs are insane!! The garden takes hours of feeding, watering, and egg removal almost every day! Never had so much work!! I’m going to build a greenhouse!!

Hi! Is today too late to plant my fall seeds, I’m in zone 7 and I’m afraid it’s too late! 😔
@StoneyAcresGardening2 жыл бұрын
There will still be things you can plant this late. I will have a video out for you later in the week.
@vk337712 жыл бұрын
Another consideration in babying these seedlings is that the throngs of grasshoppers are still in full swing in August.

I will have to do a video on it. I'm planting carrots and beets next week so I will try to get one up for you in the next few weeks.

This was my first year planting potatoes using the Ruth Stout method. I would like to use the space for beets( 1st time) and carrots next. Do I need to amend the soil with anything prior to planting after the potato crop? I have grown misc "tops" before and want to end up with the desired root. Thanks!
@marilynbarrett18042 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, thanks for the tips ,I find them extremely valuable. Don't you do potatoes as a Fall crop too?
@StoneyAcresGardening2 жыл бұрын
No, they don't do well planted in the fall in my area so I've never tried them.

What website is your favorite to get your first frost date? I googled it and looked at several but they all had a different date lol.
@tic8572 жыл бұрын
Most frost dates calculated are based on averages. And averages can shift based on how many years they chose to use. Normally I check what a few say and pick around the middle, but if the weather has been odd that year I might pick the earliest.
@StoneyAcresGardening2 жыл бұрын
I have the same frustration with those sites. I would recommend looking at your states ag college website. They usually have some type of extension service that will have a list for you that will be the most accurate.

When do you plant broccoli, cabbage, etc?
@StoneyAcresGardening2 жыл бұрын
This video was meant for zones 5-7, your target dates for planting is about 6 to 8 weeks before your first fall frost.
@StoneyAcresGardening2 жыл бұрын
You will want to put them out as transplants about 4 weeks before your first frost.
@savegraysoncats2 жыл бұрын
So where do you get transplants if you arent someone who can start seeds indoors???
@Kristin50592 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to do these, or recommended for indoor, in Greenstalks? AK gets entirely too cold for anything in winter, except indoors.
@StoneyAcresGardening2 жыл бұрын
You would need to do them under grow lights.
