@New Worlds There are some owners of PMD who would modify their bike to be faster or maybe even change the battery to a type that it not suitable to the bike. It's high time to put extinguisher or fire safety inside the lift🤔
@imranbecks
@imranbecks 3 жыл бұрын
Even with an extinguisher in the lift, it's only useful if there is a small incipient fire from within. With regards to this PMD, it exploded so if you are caught in the explosion, you'll be burnt by the flames like this fella was. So you can have tonnes of extinguisher all around the lift but if you are already on fire and shocked from the explosion which has already overcomed you, I doubt an extinguisher on the inside will make any difference.

That's what I'm thinking.. But at least not just this pmd fire issues it could be anything in the house or along the corridor. I would still vote for few fire extinguisher for every hdb block. Gov should invest in this incase of any emergency while waiting for scdf to come. Since we have AED at some of the block. Still if anything happen. From one block to another you must runnnnn and take the AED.. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
@imranbecks
@imranbecks 3 жыл бұрын
@@kinetickoi4036 Not extinguishers, but some blocks, maybe newer ones I believe, already have a fire hosereel on every floor. Unfortunately this block where it happened doesn't have a fire hosereel. @imranbecks
@imranbecks 3 жыл бұрын
If you understand how sprinklers work which clearly you don't, then you will understand why a sprinkler isn't possible in an elevator. Most to most, a sprinkler can be installed in the lift shaft, just not in the lift itself. A smoke detector in the lift is fine, but it detects smoke from fire. It would be utterly useless in a sudden explosion from a PMD for instance, because by then the smoke detector would've already melted by the flames from within. So a smoke detector isn't really practical, hence why you don't really see a smoke detector in a lift. PS: I'm a firefighter and I work in fire safety 😉

Young people need to understand that not everything is heck care or without consequences. Often there are good reasons when people advise or require - i this case PMDs to have UL2272 certification... This requirement has been around for perhaps 2 years? And there have been other instances of non compliant PMD that exploded and caused fires in units... To those who still have non compliant PMDs - don't continue taking the risk anymore - surely nothing is worth being burnt alive (I am being blunt here)

In my opinion, Recycling company are mostly unethical indirectly, they are possibly collecting all these expensive PMDs for free or throw away price, dismantle them for parts and resell international making huge profiles, its virtually like a "Sure Gain" business strategy. Lots of electronical gadgets such as cameras, phones, TV, laptops are too resold into local community from various platform like carosell or export out to those lower tier countries. If you view carosell you will know why there are 1-2 sellers selling away old digital cameras or other gadgets at hefty overpriced value. There are even lots of corrupted individuals from these recycling companies taking away better valued item for themselves before even reaching the recycling compound. These days lots of individuals and business are taking advantages of kind givings from there they make tons of money due to such corruptions. Singapore doesnt have guidelines to tackle corruption well in my opinion! Corrupted Business individuals oftern get away scotts free building up their wealth from illgeal practices.

Honestly, not sure this could have been a scene in Seinfeld or if I ought to cry. If you are up-riding to the 15th floor and something happens inside, immediately hit the nearest floor buttons to exit. (Don't hit the Emergency Stop for example. Not applicable here.) Don't continue to ride till your floor. Panic is the worst enemy. The problem with these PMD electrical fires is that they can be pretty intense with flames flaring up quickly. That's easily how the fire transfers from the device to one's clothing. The best action is to get out quickly.

@@asianfemale5999 yes police mention he modified the PMD. Know that he did harm not only to himself but his neighbours. Given the fact that there is nothing perfect in the world now that can guarantee our safety. Even crossing the road carries a lot of risk but the person can prevent bad situations if he is careful... observant. What action the RIP guy took to prevent such a devastating situation, knowing a modified PMD is like time bomb

Not sure if this was a joke or something but pelase be respectful. Your comment here has a tone on the disrespectful side. 1. Taking the situation lightly and making fun or a light statement over the victim amd situation. 2. Not fully emotionally understanding of the situation and gravity of the words you mention. Words are unwarrented and not suitable given the context. Even if intended to cheer up or make the situation not as bad as it seem as this is the wrong way to go about it. 3. The victim is clearly of different race and religion. So please don't use hungry fhost festival when it is clearly not the right occassion, scenario and context. Please be considerate, mindful and respectful. Thank you.
