Even with an extinguisher in the lift, it's only useful if there is a small incipient fire from within. With regards to this PMD, it exploded so if you are caught in the explosion, you'll be burnt by the flames like this fella was. So you can have tonnes of extinguisher all around the lift but if you are already on fire and shocked from the explosion which has already overcomed you, I doubt an extinguisher on the inside will make any difference.

That's what I'm thinking.. But at least not just this pmd fire issues it could be anything in the house or along the corridor. I would still vote for few fire extinguisher for every hdb block. @@kinetickoi4036 Not extinguishers, but some blocks, maybe newer ones I believe, already have a fire hosereel on every floor. Unfortunately this block where it happened doesn't have a fire hosereel. @imranbecks3 жыл бұрын
If you understand how sprinklers work which clearly you don't, then you will understand why a sprinkler isn't possible in an elevator. Most to most, a sprinkler can be installed in the lift shaft, just not in the lift itself. A smoke detector in the lift is fine, but it detects smoke from fire. It would be utterly useless in a sudden explosion from a PMD for instance, because by then the smoke detector would've already melted by the flames from within. So a smoke detector isn't really practical, hence why you don't really see a smoke detector in a lift. PS: I'm a firefighter and I work in fire safety 😉

If you view carosell you will know why there are 1-2 sellers selling away old digital cameras or other gadgets at hefty overpriced value. There are even lots of corrupted individuals from these recycling companies taking away better valued item for themselves before even reaching the recycling compound. Honestly, not sure this could have been a scene in Seinfeld or if I ought to cry. If you are up-riding to the 15th floor and something happens inside, immediately hit the nearest floor buttons to exit. (Don't hit the Emergency Stop for example. Not applicable here.) Don't continue to ride till your floor. Panic is the worst enemy. The problem with these PMD electrical fires is that they can be pretty intense with flames flaring up quickly. That's easily how the fire transfers from the device to one's clothing. The best action is to get out quickly.
