Not really an issue so long as there are no transformers or paper capacitors. It is important to thoroughly rinse with clean water and bake out all the moisture; 200f oven for a couple of hours. Or course the entire restoration is pretty much a waste of time as nobody is ever going to use this. But that's a different subject.

For those who wanna know, you can put a motherboard in the water only when the following components are put out: cpu, heatsink, CMOS battery. It can't do any damage to the board if it's done the correct way. For example, motherboards are put in water when they are made!

I just didn’t have any at all. Not till it was finally getting cheap. I used to get old junk computers from people but you couldn’t do much with them except run a printer or something. Now I have a bunch of laptops that are quite old and they can still do a lot. The oldest one (20 years ) has a floppy drive that works and I use it to read all the disks from the floppy drive Sony camera I used for many years. I run Puppy Linux on them and still go online sometime. Mostly use them for storing a million pictures and a lot of music and such. Up to a few years ago I had an Apple II that actually had a 5” floppy disk drive. One of the true ‘ floppy ‘ disks.
