What do you think they'll put in next year's Animation Chronicle set to tie-in with the LIGHT Duelist Pack? I'll guess at Plasma Warrior Eitom and Thunder Knight. But also rooting for Arcana Force as 1 of the themes for the LIGHT Duelist Pack, so in AC03 have 7 cards from Sartorius deck(3 unreleased AF monsters, the 3 Roads spells and Arcana Force Rebirth).

Hilariously, the card text on these cards does look like they are old as hell considering they both lack any Hard once per turn. So opening multiples of either the field spell or the spell is completely A-Ok as long as you can provide the fodder, which I mean... Telefon looping itself can most certainly do. ​@@ashtonwestfall4777 Considering some parts of said support have seen some play as engines in Splights which is currently meta in the OCG? Would say probably not that. There ARE cards that would benefit from "not being HOPT" but the issue simply is that its hard to reasonably say what would benefit from it. A metric ton of old cards never had a HOPT clause but never were broken, however some did end up being broken. Also current issue in card design is NOT "Too many cards have HOPT", it is more so that too many cards either have One Effect Per Turn, "Not the same turn this card was sent" or other forms of restrictions that are unnecessary. THOSE are things that should be properly managed more so than HOPT as more cards are worse due to those restrictions than having a HOPT clause slapped on.

So, obviously, there's going to be nobody using these cards for their intended purposes outside of the occasional memey diceroll deck. But for those people interested in making that meme diceroll deck, I'd like to point out that the continuous trap "That Six" basically negates any risks with using the field spell. Any time your opponent rolls a 2, 4, or 6 (the positive effects) you can turn the result into a 1 (lose 1000 atk) and anytime you roll a 1, 3, or 5 (the negative effects) you can turn it into a 6 (double the monsters atk). *Edit: After doing a bit more research, I found out that this combo isn't as strong as I initially thought it was. Since the field spell forces both you and your opponent to roll the dice simultaneously, That Six can only affect one of the dice rolls. This means that it is still possible for your opponent to roll a beneficial result and you to roll a negative result and then you're forced to choose between altering your roll or your opponent's. That Six does make the field spell "safer" to use, but you may still end up getting screwed by the dice.

Ahhhhhh Dungeon Dice Monsters! I had the board game version of it and remember buying the starter kit and then proceeding to struggle playing it as a kid because the pieces confused me like the dice which could've just been six sided regular dice and the abacus to count stuff on the monsters and board. Dangers were better dice cards than most dice rolling cards. Their effects had randomness to them but you could medicate the randomness and even still you'd have to get really unlucky to get screwed over by Dangers discarding themselves.

At this point, I'm convinced they are releasing anything and everything that may search celefon XD This would be the fourth card in recent times that can directly search it (These guys, Gadget Gamer, Clockwork Night, and Aussa the Earth Channeler) along with Gizmek Naga, One for One, and the Gizmek field spell (Not a direct search but with GG, Naga, Celfon, and Telefon, the odds are high). They've supported EARTH Machines, Level 1 Machines, Earths, Die roll cards now... If we get Mystic Piper support I wouldn't be surprised XD

What makes a good Random Effect in a Card Game: Make it so all the results are positive, the difference is between How Positive they are. If in that game, the standard of power is that, let's say 1 Spell gives 5 Power, then the random effect should be 50% of the Spell giving 5, 25% of it giving 3, and 25% of it giving 10. If you are going to make it so a low roll is a Negative effect, the Positive effect better be WORTH IT.

dice rolls are a gamble. you can't have a gamble if all results are positive. considering how much the game has been powercrept, it's unreasonable to say "the positive effect better be worth it" because by whose standard are we holding the effect to?

@@GameModJr The thing is that a Gamble isn't necesarily good card design when it's either something good or bad. In a Competitive Game, Consistency is extremely important. So, when games make effects with random effects, you have to be very careful. It's not simply receiving a bad effect, is a Minus in card advantage simply because the card didn't do what you needed, and a massive loss of Tempo. If we want to check good card design based on chance in Yugioh, I would say that Kirai Gumo is a great example of it. Each time you attack, you run the risk of halving your LP. But even if you fall the coin, your attack still succeeds, you simply had to pay a lot of LP for that attack. A card may appear to be "Fair" if both the positive effect and negative effect are the same but opposite, but that's not quite right. Cup of Ace makes you draw 2 cards or the opponent draw 2 based on the coin toss, but while getting it right is a +1, getting it wrong is a -3. Positive Effects have to be REALLY good, to compensate for something like that Cup of Ace being a -3 if you fail the toss, or the Negative Effects have to still let you do what you were trying to do, either giving a lower but still positive effect or doing something bad taht doesn't interrupt your play, like Jirai Gumo half-killing you but still performing it's attack.

I think we both can name a few bad cards made in the last year alone. This isn't a competitive game, however. It has a competitive scene, but that alone doesn't make it a competitive game. I don't disagree with the loss of card advantage with a bad roll, however that's just the nature of gamble effects. Konami seems to understand this or they wouldn't have made it like this. The issue with the Jirai Gumo example is that the LP loss is meaningless. We both know the only LP that matters is your last. With Cup of Ace you forget effects like Second Coin Toss which can boost your chances at the desirable result. the -3 chance in card advantage is what keeps Ace from being abused. Which is something this game desperately needs more of. At the end of the day your arguments holds no water since Konami continues to make cards and effects that fly in the face of what you advocate for. I, for one, like how they've handled cards like Ace, and dice roll effects.

@@GameModJr In my case, I believe that your arguments are the ones taht hold no water. Based on your arguments, no matter what they do, that's the right choice, since that's what they do. For example, if they decide to release a Spell Card taht says "Win the game" with no cost nor conditions, it would be good since that's what they decided to do and what they did. I completely disagree with the thought that whatever the company in charge of it does is the good thing. The problem with Gamble Effects isn't only the loss of Card Advantage, but the loss of the Card Advantage and the loss of Tempo in ADDITTION to the Negative Effect. Konami makes the negative and positive effects without taking into consideration those. This makes it so their effects are basically "Toss a Coin. If the result is Head, punch the opponent in the face. If the result is hard, the opponent will rip out your heart". There is no point in taking a gamble like that, especially when the Positive effect isn't even that good. You could simply use a card taht already does it but without risks. Lp is meaningless as long as you still ahve 1 left, that's true. But your amount of LP left does affect how you can play and what the opponent can do. Let's say you start the game at 100 LP and your opponent at 8000 LP. Now, the most minimal amount of damage you get will kill you. Under taht sitaution, you can't simply summon monsters in ATK, as the opponent coudl run them over and kill you, and you always have to have something prepared in case the opponent simply Fissures your only defense or something like that. In a slower format where the game wasn't decided in TUrn 1 by summoning 4 Omni-Negates and hoping the opponent doesn't have Dark Ruler no More or something like that, halving your LP ends being deeply relevant. THe small change in plays you are forced to make to not get insta-killed after missing your Jirai Gumo 1-2 times can cost you the game. And, this IS a Competitive Game. 2 People play against each other and there can only be 1 winner. That is the very definition of a Competitive Game.

Even if that hypothetical card would be printed, it would be banned faster than Spellbook of Judgment, let's be fair. I'm certain that Konami is circumspect to a degree when testing their cards, apart from edge cases that is. Whether it's from years of trial and error, or player feedback that they undoubtedly listen to (whether they want to or not), they are aware of the loss of card advantage and "tempo". The thing is: What you think is good card design might not be what konami has in mind. It's pretty obvious by now that Konami curates the game environment/meta. They release meta defining cards all the time, yet cards like these somehow slip through the cracks? We know better. These cards are lip service to the anime for the nostalgia bucks. They aren't meant for the competitive scene. These hypothetical scenarios are meaninglessness since you can just conjure the very circumstances needed to prove a point. If your opponent has such a bad hand that they could do nothing but watch Jirai Gumo swinging at their LP no matter how many failed coin calls, does it really matter what the LPs are at? I think we're talking about two different types of "competitive" I'm talking about tournaments and event in the like. This game is for casual audiences with the option to take it serious. The issue with the kind of competitive you speak of is that not everyone uses the best decks of the format. I still use my favorite Chess Archfiend deck to this day for fun, and they were considered bad by the standards of the format they were released under. Guess what? I also know people that deliberately bad decks just for fun, including coin toss and die rolling decks. Playing a "competitive" game doesn't mean it has to be done with anything serious.
