Appreciating that fly ridge hatch and its mechanism for being held open and the handle aligning with the handrail is NOT geeky. It’s an appreciation for detail that the designers work hard to live up to and it makes everyone’s boat better as a result. It’s the same with cars, planes, houses, phones and just about everything else. If people like us stop noticing and appreciating those details and innovation, they’ll quickly be value-engineered out of the design and we’ll all be driving identical beige cars and sailing identical beige boats. Keep it up.

That switch panel alone is telling as to the quality of workmanship and materials on this boat. Curved glass is crazy expensive and they didn’t have to do that, but there it is. Thanks Nick Also, don’t be afraid to show more like this (needing work). We can all appreciate what you’re showing us.

That's a boat that will never go out of style!" Amazing isn't it...what a difference time makes when it comes to tastes in anything. @PhilbyFavourites3 жыл бұрын
Beware, I would imagine you won’t get any change out of £50K in “upgrade/get it to the way you want” planning. It’s likely (and I speak from amusing experience) that the fire extinguishers may need replacement/recertification, the engines will need servicing (and they are biggies), the liferaft will need to be serviced. You can see that it also needs the bedding and mattresses upgraded/replaced. As an option to buying a full price new one it seems a fantastic value for money opportunity. But beware boat ownership is never cheap and bigger boats needs far bigger outlay on maintenance and general upkeep.
@justinlinnane80433 жыл бұрын

what gem isn't it? I know $200k is literally a boatload of money, but compared to what we see, seems so much for the money, super clique but I see someone like you Nick getting into a boat like this, someone willing to pay a little less, and do some of the work yourself, or with connections such as you have, Fairline had to me the right concept here, they shorten the sleeping areas, as basically you only use to sleep, and gave you more social space, which that is good old common sense, fantastic, I love this era of boats, so much character, so many quirky stuff that it's just refreshing, thank you, sir, looking forward to your 300k subscriber's video, happy i been watching since you had around 15k, been fantastic, perhaps at 300k subs, Santa will stop by early and drop off a 4k camera :D !

also would like to point out, the massive price difference between this 2004 Squadron 55 and the 2005 Fairline Squadron 58, of course, I'm aware 58 is slightly bigger but when you compare the fact will cost an extra $159,000.00, brings the back the enormous value of this boat, brings back the context is $200k is a lot of money but compared to something just 1 year younger, this boat is actually a bargain, cheers!

I think it’s a very nice layout, I far prefer the galley down compared to the latest fad of galley aft. First time I’ve seen the internal stairs up to the fly bridge but as you say makes perfect sense to allow access from the galley. Yes the boat is a bit dated but it looks quality materials throughout other than the wrinkled wall lining in every room. A few pounds spent on this and it would be some boat.
