31:02 the Waymo driver stopped way past the stop sign. This is very human like. Currently Tesla autopilot will stop at or before the stop sign (at the painted stop line if there is one) and then creep forward for visibility. This is technically correct, but makes stop signs more of a chore and a little slower of a process.

That's so interesting at the start, it's visualizing a phantom stop sign where the sign on the gate would be if the parking lot were closed and locked. It makes me wonder how much of the car is going off map data and how much is it figuring out on the fly since it completely ignored the ghost sign and drove through where it was.

Great video! Is there anyway to avoid the trip can't be updated; car needs to go back to depot popup or predict when it may popup on the app? I also once got kicked out because of the popup and it would not let me update the trip. Thanks!

I really enjoy your videos, blows my mind how far ahead they are compared to Tesla, and that is not just the lidar. I think your KZbin views will go up if you speed up the boring parts.

@@bertstevens245 thank you! I tried speeding up the videos around video #100, but it actually made my views, retention, and engagement drop by 50%, so I went back to normal

How does one of these cars know how fast to go on a four lane highway and which lane to use? If it uses the outside fast lane how does it find its way across the other three lanes to exit the road and how soon before the exit does it begin this procedure? If other cars on these lanes do not give way what does it do then?

6:39 I wonder if they stopped working on Phoenix freeways to focus on San Fransisco freeways first
@carlw6247Ай бұрын
No, just that JJ isn't a Waymo employee. Only Waymo employees get to use the freeways during their Waymo rides around Phoenix since early January and around San Francisco since the middle of August.

Also true, but you'd think they'd be a little more common/visible on the freeways at this point. Maybe, maybe not

@@JJRicks They may be confident enough about it that they're not running testers anymore. Employees taking rides won't be significant enough to notice.
