Pouring Your Heart Out

Pouring Your Heart Out

Күн бұрын

YAY!!! My 200th video!!! I'm sooo excited. Here's a pour that I have been planning for a long time and finally got around to doing it. This is my biggest ever flip cup pour using my glue and water mix as my pouring medium. This canvas is a HUGE 60cm x 150cm and it took 4.8kg of mixed paint to do this 11 flip cup pour. I used 60% glue to 40% water then used 50/50 of this pouring medium to my Global impasto paints. If you are using thicker paints, like Liquitex Basics, you will need to add more water to thin it out.

LMAO!! Your little doggie was following you back-and-forth, back-and-forth, back-and-forth, listening to every word you were saying. I think she thought you were talking to her but I will look in her eyes she was definitely listening, and if she could have, I’m sure she would have given you some advice! What a character she is. As for this painting I love it! I’m going to go watch your “500“ painting

The copper is actually my fav part of this. Cells don't have to be perfect to be beautiful...this came out lovely.

Julie, I LOVE ❤️ this piece, it's absolutely beautiful. And you utilized my most favorite colors. I've been wanting to do a piece like this, and you've inspired me to go for it! I do have a question, you mentioned that maybe you shouldn't have used copper, what would your other color choice have been? 🌻

The copper adds the right touch of contrast for the colors. You have so many cells of all types, so it’s ok for the copper cells to be different. The variation is nice. It’s really beautiful and I speak as a designer as well as an artist. Well done!

Congratulations, Julie, for your 200th video!! What an incredible amount of hard work it has required from you in order to film, edit, & post all of those videos & I know it would have certainly been a whole lot easier for you to have just enjoyed the pouring part & not bothered with the extra time & work posting on YT. However, your generosity in sharing your experiments is so very much appreciated & I wonder if you have any idea of how much your contribution has helped so many of us learn what goes in to creating prettier pours. So, thank you so much for all that you do! And your willingness to do such a large pour with just glue & water, but no Floetrol or other pre-made, commercial pouring medium, demonstrates that pours can still be beautiful with just the glue & water, which is truly an awesome discovery for me, as I always thought that would be a waste of time & paint, until you got your Elmer's Glue All & began producing your latest series of paintings, which were all gorgeous! (I am looking forward to your comparisons of paintings poured with versus without the Floetral and/or other pouring medium. That will be very interesting.) Anyway, thanks again for everything! And KNOW that we truly learn & grow with each of your videos. 💙🧡

It was lovely and I agree with every bit of it. I find glue all gives more defined lines and floetrol gives a more blended look. Just thought I’d throw in my thoughts bc I’ve been using them both lately

Started pouring after watching a few of your videos. Tons of fun! I tried a big 30x40 canvas yesterday and realized that you can't have too much paint. I did it with 6 16 oz cups and realized I actually ought to have had double that. Never ever skimp on the paint! Lesson learned.....:)

Love the copper and the cells it creates! IMO it gives the painting an organic look because the cells are not uniform. But it’s your art and up to you to decide what you like and don’t like. It’s a gorgeous piece!

It’s beautiful! I love the irregular copper in the mix. Congratulations on your 200th. You inspired me to do a huge painting with my kindergarten to 5th grade students to sell at our school auction. Each group did their own cup from an assortment of matching colors. They thought the painting was beautiful (it had some problems). They loved this activity, even the older students were all in! I’m not the art teacher...I had only tried this a few times. I’m obsessed with pour painting and love your videos. Thanks for teaching and sharing your work.

Straight lines and round cells seem to be your overall design goals ... whereas I enjoy the sense of motion that curved lines can convey, and appreciate the lace-like look of less than round cells. We can agree to disagree without being disagreeable. Please know that I celebrate your color choices; applaud your artistic standards; and, really respect your dedication to achieve the very best in every pour. Congratulations on your 200th, and best holiday wishes!

her aesthetic differs from mine in a lot of ways, too, but that's not a critique, either. you might critique some of the composition choices that can apparently be somewhat controlled, but you can't fault her for her dedication and knowledge.

This is gorgeous! Even tho the copper (or metallic paints) don't make the "perfect" cell, they do add visual interest in my opinion. I am new to this style of art and love it so much. There is something so satisfying about experimenting with colors and trying to find unique ways to put them on canvas. How many of us have scoured thru out kitchens and houses for things that could be used to make interesting patterns or just to change things up....ME.. lol.
