First time seeing both side by side. The comparison is the key to distinguishing the difference.

Nicely done Tom and you may want to increase your sample rate a little higher when you're using longer time bases.
@haywardsautomotive61566 жыл бұрын
Great point for the capabilities of the Pico. Using 2 channels the 4425 could be able to be increased to 10MS/s. If the time base is shortened it'll allow an increased to max sample rate to catch glitches. The longer the time base the less samples per second can be obtained. A less capable scope the time base would need to be shortened to obtain the level of performance of a Pico.

@haywardsautomotive61566 жыл бұрын
The sensor switch rate is rich/lean/rich in 1.8s for it to still pass and it looks to be @1.5s and AM sensors are @$120-170 so they have time but if they're driving an Audi they already know parts are high..
@baxrok2.6 жыл бұрын
I was kind of expecting to hear that both sensors were going to be replaced. However, not all Audi owners are created equal, if you know what I mean.

Hey Tom,it would’ve been great to show the processed O2 data on the scantool. I’m curious if we could’ve picked up the slow response on there... Nothing like raw data though... Thanks for the video! 👍

Nice diagnosis Tom and pretty lazy O2 sensor. Laughed how the new B1S2 made the B1S1 seem sluggish but that's normal. Was that an Audi O2 sensor installed?
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics6 жыл бұрын
it may be back for a bank 1 slow reponse
@haywardsautomotive61566 жыл бұрын
It was at @1 cycle per second which is @normal back then so it should be alright.
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics6 жыл бұрын
your right, I would be surprised if it did, the new sensor response rate was much quicker, I think it was an aftermarket sensor
@haywardsautomotive61566 жыл бұрын
I just looked it up & the sensor switch rate is rich/lean/rich in 1.8s for it to still pass and it looks to be @1.5s and AM sensors are @$120-170 so they have time but if they're driving an Audi they already know parts are high..

I'm getting really negative lamba readings, (like) -5 -6 and a rough idle, I have already tried cleaning my MAF twice and replaced the air filter. wondering if it might be this sensor needs cleaning or just need to replace the MAF please let me know.

another great vid but i have a few questions, why did you hook up the scope rather than use a scan tool to look at the o2 sensor data, (faster refresh rate maybe?) and to me both those 02 sensors look like they need replacing, they are both quite lazy, did you recomend replacing them both rather than waiting until the better of the 2 throws a code and the customer has to pay for another diag? thanks in advance.
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics5 жыл бұрын
I used the scope for the faster refresh. I did not suggest both but that’s a good observation. So far the car hasn’t been back for the other o2

Hey Tommy, great video as always. I see you have opted for a picoscope now. I am looking at getting one myself and i was wondering if you could tell me which model you decided to go for? Dave

You may want to check out www.autonerdz.com and speak with Tom Roberts. When you buy the scope from him, you'll have access to video tutorials for life without any extra charge of how to use the scope and other treasures in the forum that are not allowed to the general public. Just another option for you to check out.

@throttlebottle59066 жыл бұрын
could almost mistake it for a diesel idling @ 11:16 on. must be well broken in!
@joeclark80296 жыл бұрын
why when you let off the gas both 02 sensors go rich for a bit then go lean. i know they go lean cause of fuel cut but they go rich first and that isnt making sense to me if you know please comment
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics6 жыл бұрын
Letting off of the throttle immediately closes the throttle plate so no airflow plus a fuel trim command. The way the fuel trims are learned. You have long term trims for idle and partial load and only one short term which uses either one of those depending on conditions. So my guess would be the partial load fuel trim plus the immediate throttle closing

I think that car will be back in the near future for a B1S1

If it does il do a part2 and we will look at scandata compared to live data
@westtexas5016 жыл бұрын
Would you have been able to catch this lazy o2 sensor on live scan data ?
@PositiveLeadDiagnostics6 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know for sure. That seems to be the debate. The scantool has processed data which wouldn't be as fast as the scoped live data. I'm sure in some cases you would be able to use scandata. But me personally idk if I trust it
