This Carly was the best imo. Sarah Joy Brown gave her so many layers. She made Carly likeable and even though you hated the things she did, you rooted for her. And she suffered greatly from low self-esteem and obvious mommy issues. I really think this Carly wanted to be loved and accepted, and she was willing to fight for that right. And I ALWAYS loved her interactions with Lila. I mean come on, nobody doesn’t like Lila. And I really think Lila understood Carly. Lila is sooooooo missed!

I never liked AJ but Sonny and Carly should have gave him supervised visits. As long as he passed a breathalyzer. He was a screw up but they should have given him a chance to fix it step by step. I never would have given him full custody though.

Omg! Really Monica? This is getting more and more pathetic! It is like the, writers had everyone being CarSon robots! No wonder I stopped watching for 5 years in 2001. These were the Worst years for Gh. How a soap that is centered around GH and the nurses and doctors who work there turned into the MOB show is beyond me. So fake. GH really became the Carly and Sonny show during this period. Its' like all of the older popular characters (Luke, Laura, Bobbie, The Quartermaines) all took a backseat to 2 characters that were really secondary characters. I bet long-time viewers stopped watching in droves.

You'll be surprised to know the hospital was used less in the 80s under Gloria Monty when the show was at the top of the ratings. In fact if it wasn't for the stuff like the mob, Ice Princess, GH would not be on now. It was headed for cancellation being about the hospital.

William o'neal ok. I understand that but there was,balance back in the day. under Guza the show became mob centric and was,pumping up the stupid Corinthos Klan when Sonny was a,secondary character not even a legacy character like Jason, AJ and Carly . Ridiculous.

Technically Carly was gonna be important regardless. I felt the pairing happened because Guza knew based on summer of 99 Carly was too important to give less focys to. MB had no chemistry with LV either. The whole arranged marriage story with Jax, Alexis, etc., Emily and Juan. Nobody wanted to see that stuff. The show had a tendency to focus less on Carly in summer months and that was the first summer without VM and it was bad. When it got back to Fall it got better again. Any story of Sonny's was gonna pale in comparison to Carly's unless VM came back. And Burton also quit. Look at GH in later years where Sonny's in different pairings and Carly played by LW is supporting these stories. It didn't work but MB wanted a break from Carson. It led to TB quitting. Thats why the Emson, Skate, and Liason mess happened with Carly supporting these stories. 2007 Carly had a terrible year in this regard. That's why Claudia/SJB happened in 08 and it brought Carly back to storyline status but also SJB was able to do what those actresses could not, lead. And SJB acted circles around those actresses at this time. It was a shame she got terrible material like she got because she was the best thing that happened to that show in a long while and they blew it. When Claudia got whacked I was done until briefly returning in 2015 because of Ava, Franco, Nina, and Ric.
