Great work on the video! Watching this gave me the confidence to do the work myself on my 2002 F250. I really appreciate that you didn't skip any steps, no matter how small. Thank you for posting!

THANK YOU! I was just gifted a 2001 F250 a couple months ago and the wiper-motor was kaputz - and just now got a new motor to put in it. For positioning the wipers - Im thinking of maybe running a line of painter's blue tape along the path of the wiper blades before taking the wipers off. Or at least that's what I'm gonna do. Never done this stuff before so its just an idea that popped in me brain-hole - LOL.. Mine is an After-Market motor - so Im hoping it will last. I appreciate you taking time to do this DIY video! It doesn't look quite as hard as I had imagined.

FYI, on my 2000 F250, I didn't need to remove the right plastic cowling as the the left piece is separate. Otherwise, the job went smooth and my wiper motor whine is gone. Thanks for the video.

Update to the wiper motor video. I used a rebuilt motor when I made the video about 3 years ago. A few months ago the wipers stopped working in the delay mode or they worked in a jerking way. They also wouldn't stop in the correct place. Today I replaced the motor again using a new aftermarket motor from WAI. Everything seems fine. I'll update again if the new motor fails.

Changed my motor now the wipers park in the upright position. Tried common internet tips and disconnected the linkage and even tried adjusting the shaft with a wrench. Any advise on what im doing wrong.
@dans80863 жыл бұрын
I feel like I need more info. Do the wipers work normally and just park in the wrong place? Do the wipers park wherever you turn off the switch? My knee jerk thought is they sent you a faulty motor but it could be the switch or the wiper wasn't in the park position when the arms were put back on.

Dan S thanks for the reply, I'm pretty sure I got some tracing to do on mine now. I got an intermittent operation issue on mine. sometimes they work sometimes they don't (usually they don't when it's raining). the washer function quits along with the wipers when they malfunction. Kudos for posting vids on your work 👍

A bad motor will cause no wiper fluid to work aswell?
@dans80863 жыл бұрын
No fluid is a different problem and the motor in my video has nothing to do with fluid. Start by tracing the tubes back to the wiper fluid tank. That should lead you to the pump. Maybe you will get lucky and find a broken or clogged tube. Make sure the nozzles where the fluid squirts out are clear. Check the wiring to the pump. Now, if you have to replace the pump, you can feel good about checking the cheap/easy stuff first. Good luck.

@@dans8086 my problem is the wiper fluid not working and my wiper motor not working
@dans80863 жыл бұрын
If both quit at the same time I would guess at an electrical problem like a blown fuse. It is highly unlikely that a wiper motor and a fluid pump would go bad on the same day. In my truck the wiper, the fluid, and the turn signal are all on the same stick. It is possible that stick has broken. Start cheap and easy by checking fuses. Then clean the electrical connections at the motor and check to see that you are getting power to the motor. If the fuses are good and the connections are clean, but you're not getting power, you may need to replace the control stick. I would be tempted to let a shop look at it if you have gotten to that point.

Ok cool stuff my wipers only work on full or fast my intermediate dosnt work. So is that a bad motor or something else. I changed the turn signal lever and that didn’t fix it? Any ideas ? Thx dan
@dans80865 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that I am not a mechanic or an electrician so I am going to give you a SWAG (some wild ass guess). Is it possible that you didn't get the wires connected well when you replaced the switch? If that's not it the first and cheapest thing to do is clean the ground. Trace it back from your motor. It may be grounded by the bolts holding the motor. Bad grounds cause weird problems. If you have the ability, check the connectivity of the wires where it plugs into the motor using a multimeter to find out if it's the wiring harness. It could be your switch but it sounds like you just replaced that. So the next guess I would have is the motor. I may have just muddied the waters for you but that's the order of events that I would do hoping to find the problem in the cheapest way possible. Again though, I'm not a mechanic and someone else may have better advice.

My wipers just stopped working. How do I know it is the motor or not?
@dans80867 жыл бұрын
Keeping in mind that I am not a mechanic, I would start by checking the fuse if the wipers just stopped without warning. Then I would move to checking for electric current at the plug that goes into the motor. If that checks out ok I would think it's the motor. Mine started going slower and slower over a few minutes and finally died so it was obvious.
