I had a 306, I would of liked a gti 6 but at the time I was to young so I had a hdi 1.9 90 bhp, which was by far & away the most comfortable car I've owned

Know these very well, having owned 2 306 rallyes and a gti6. There was never a 306 gti. just the gti6. and they weren't rare. However, they are now and they're totally brilliant.

Mine hdi is now 20 and 270tkm on the clock. Two years ago I did almost 4k trip around Europe, plan to do the same this year.

Just got back from another summer trip, 3.5kkm around balkans and Central Europe. Less then 6L per 100km even though I was doing 140km/h (130km on gps) on motorways. Temps around 30 degrees, ac constantly on. Love mine 3♥6

He was saying that the regular GTI doesn't have a 6 speed, the 6 speed was only on the GTI-6, hence the 6 at the end.

@@truff1999 Exactly, I did wonder too. There are no regular 306 GTis. There were only GTI-6s. This is what you get when you have presenters that are reading cue cards and don't really have much knowledge of cars.

Peugeot wasn't very consistent with the badging in the 90's and 00's. There definitely was a 306 GTI (sans the 6) in some markets (I saw one for sale in Sweden a few months ago and did check the badge in Service Box but didn't think to check the engine and gearbox types), the 106 GTI was called the S16 in some. They 206 RC was renamed to the GTI 180 for british market. The 106 and 306 XSi's had a number of different configurations depending on year and target market... It's really confusing and if you're looking to buy one, especially if you're looking at one in another country, you really should be plugging the VIN into Service Box and looking up the actual configuration and badging there.

Back when Peugeot made some of the best hatchbacks on the market. My 106 for my first car never let me down over the 4 years I had it. No more, now Peugeot are synonymous with crap.

James Smith you're kidding right ? the 180 golf Mk4 is barely faster than the 306 GTI 6, like 0.02 seconds faster from 0-60, but due to its horrible handling and steering, the peugeot would destroy it since it's one of the best handling cars peugeot had ever made.

I read the 306 gti 6 does 0-60 in 8 seconds turns out that was a mistake. Yea I can imagine now it would win. Especially if there were corners involved.

Owismael ik this comment is a year old but I want to put my input in. Peugeot were in a rut of terrible cars but recently they're making some good cars again - 208, 308, 2008,3008,5008,508 not every one of those is for everyone but their target market, they're some nice cars
