Good to hear, Thanks. I believe the mass air flow sensor is located on the air filter box cover, there are 2 electrical connectors on it the one closer to fender is the one. See my other video on replacing intake hose assembly see link kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHnKZYZ3j9lmbK8 it will show air filter box connecters.

So you can use a vacuum line with a smaller diameter but not larger opening than the original. I'm thinking a smaller opening creates a tighter seal on the connectors too

my message in video is do not install a larger tube it will cause P0442. The original tube is 3/16 I had replace with larger 1/4 tube it cause P0442 code check engine light on. I replace it again back to 3/16 tube and the check engine light P0442 cleared. So 3/16 tube is good and 1/4 Not good. With all that said another KZbinr commented the reason my 1/4 tube did not work was it was too big at connected ends causing leaks. This maybe true because when i replace with 1/4 tube i remember i could not use the original pinch clamps and had to get larger clamps on the ends. I remember the connected ends were somewhat loose. When i reinstall with 3/16 tube the connected ends were so tight i don't even think i needed to put on pinch clamps, this time i was able to put back original pinch clamps.

@@databug88 Great info. I believe the KZbinr you referenced is correct. I also noticed some KZbinrs fixing the P0442 by replacing the check valve on the top of the gas tank. Way too many possible causes for these EVAP codes.

I purchase tube from local Advance Auto store. its sold by the foot all you need is 2 feet. Any local auto parts store should have them. note it is 3/16 tube it will bit tight to put on but it is right size. DO NOT use 1/4" that's what trigger the P0442 code.

@rkgsd3 жыл бұрын
Honestly sometimes it's better to go to the folks who only work on your engine, the dealer. These SOB hole in the wall repair shops can be very incompetent. BTW you can't be "made" to replace a part such as a catylitic converter. Plus the cat has its own specific trouble code.
@owkia3 ай бұрын
@@rkgsd Unfortunately, dealer techs can also be incompetent and are quite often overworked so they miss plenty of stuff too...all while charging a bunch more than the local guy. If your car is out of warranty by a bunch of years, don't expect them to always be helpful.

Dear god I hope this is my issue. Got mine cash about 4 years ago. I have the same non-OEM hose in the same place. Ive been chasing this issue for months. Replaced a bad solenoid , had a "major leak" code, now just a "small leak" but cant get an inspection with. this CEL. Heres hoping!
@databug883 жыл бұрын
As I remember When i install 1/4 tube I could not re use the original OEM pinch clamps as they were too small I had to get larger screw clamp when using the 1/4 tube. Another KZbinr commented the larger tube cause leaks at connected ends. When i replace with smaller 3/16 tube the conn ends were very tight and original OEM clamps work fine on them. The conn ends were so tight I don't think i needed to put back the OEM clamps. Hope it all works out for you.

I have the same issue, went to my mechanic and it looks like he did in fact change the hose with a quarter inch tube he had laying around. Just go be clear, your new tube is 1/8th on both ends? also where did you get the final replacement one from? thanks!
@databug882 жыл бұрын
the new replacement tube is actually 3/16, I did in video refer to it as 1/8 that was a mistake. It is 3/16 tube from local auto parts store. As one other KZbinr commented because a larger 1/4 was use the connected end clamps do not do a good job clamping the larger tube and causes leaks. so the correct 3/16 tube puts a tight seal around connected ends.
@nrml12 жыл бұрын

I’m curious cause hose size be a factor into my p0401 code not clearing, when I was replacing my egr valve and vaccum modulator I had to replace the hose it didn’t dawn on me that upsizing a hose can cause fault
@databug882 ай бұрын
The upsizing cause the fault because the clamps were no longer able to clamp down the oversize tube enough so it leak at the connection.
