2000hp Holden V8 Commodore - at the wheels!

Bubba Medlyn has just finished rebuilding his Drag Challenge winning Holden Commodore and this time it's got all the horsepower. The engine is a Holden V8 and less than 400ci, with twin 88mm turbos.

Still reckon that VH SL/E 's were the best looking commodore ever, especially in the two tone colour schemes. Who even makes a masking kit for them?

Ywep the X 69 model is th3 best of the holdens, remember when they came out new and also the VK Calais as well, the Calais was better as far is all the dash etc, but the VH as far as comfort seats and looks. :) Also remember when the 16" rims first came out and you have to pay around 500 per rim + tyres? Now people are selling them for less than $50.00 each, lol :)

The single spoke steering wheels need to stay in the past though and I doubt you can find any of the digital dashes on the VK calais that work without having some sort of repair in the last 30 odd years lol

@@shoominati23 I agree, best place to take the dashes to, is a place in West Melbourne, they do VDO digital gauges repairs and OE digital Dash repairs, cheers :)

OMG, think about this car and then bubba said he is not happy due to his gut feelings and sure enough it blew up the transmission and the cooler lines, just imagine how much pressure it would have taken to blow those external trans coolers which has twin extra pumps to make the trans fliud flow quicker? I just what to see this beast going right and do at least low 6's. Keep up the great work bubba everyone is on your side mate. :)

That's over 300 HP for each piston, massive amounts of power for a holden block, still seen more, but not turbo's, over 3,000 HP but in a drag car made by williamstown performance and peters drag car which held the 308 holden Drag record with in its class, but totally different rules as well, this is a VH body, so basically saying put this running gear in anything lighter and then you have a quicker car again, well done to all those who put this beast of a car for bubba. :)

knife , I didn’t see “seconds”, 1/2 a second at best, but they have done such a fantastic job getting all that gear into that tiny German engine bay so damn neatly, and I don’t think a single country missed out on supplying parts for the build. Credit where it’s due, they have done a wonderful job on keeping the “vibe”.

Nice Grass funny, I have a 1500 HP motor that’s completely stock Mitsubishi... more importantly it’s 1500 HP prime, that’s 24 hours a day, and it does it all at 1800 RPM.

Lets not forget people with out the ECU controlling most of the power coming down to the ground, that car would be spinning its wheels all the way down the track, in fact it still will be, just monitored by the ECU, if not imagine all that power going to the ground when the boost hit' the engine and then the Diff, tyre breeding monster un drivable, if he was only getting 7's now its a 6 secound beast ?

To be fair there's no factory components left its just holden styled architecture. Its like saying you have a hemi that makes 4000hp but its a full billet 481x which has almost nothing to related to a hemi in it

Nah it was the LS lovers who hated it. The Holden engine always has sounded better than a Chev or LS in my opinion. Just something about them where they sound deeper than the American import motor. And this is coming from a Ford man!
