Like if that weren’t entirely accurate why is gen x’s core identity besides memes mobile games and fortnite essentially recreating and recycling trends from the 90s and 2000s people can keep hating on millennials all they want (which as far as I’m concerned was primarily justified as a trend by boomers being angry and not wanting to take responsibility over the realization of how badly they fucked things up for us) but my goodness did we ever have cool taste 😝

Your point about Lizzie not being the nerd but also not being the popular one is super interesting. At that time, many of us perceived ourselves as "somewhere in between" more than at the bottom of the "social pyramid" if there was one. I have to use all the quotes because of course, the notions of absolutely all of this feel preposterous when you're 33. But the psychology of being 10-16 and watching Lizzie felt like having a protagonist to root for who wasn't uncool at all -- had friends, looked/dressed avant garde (for the time), but wasn't unreachably edgy to relate to either. She got mad at her parents but also embraced them / brother too etc. She didn't always get bad grades or good grades she just... tried and forgot and failed and succeeded etc. I also think they made good use of the mixed-gender trio friend group -- it felt more realistic. And while they didn't make any great strides in terms of racial or body diversity, it did ^ that ^ very well. I remain surprised that the show didn't go on longer, given how long it has endured conversation in today's world but at the same time -- sometimes things can just end.

lizzie was one of my major fashion influences back in highschool haha. my hair was based on what she did with hers in season 2 throughout all three years, i even had it dyed blonde to match hers. in hindsind i was completely obsessed with her haha :'D

I didn't realize Limited Too was associated with Lizzy Mcquire tv show. I do know at the time kids were criticizing my clothing in elementary school in the late 90's early 2000 era girls in my class asking me why I didn't get my clothes from Old Navy & Limited Too & even went so far as to ask if I was poor because I didn't shop there. I got my clothes from Jc penny's, Sears, Wal-Mart etc. I got mad after a while of them criticizing me & made the remark if you don't like what I'm wearing would you prefer I showed nude to school?! They then gave me some Limited Too clothing that they had outgrown or was to small for them claiming I should wear it & it would help me to fit in more... 🤦‍♀️

Brenda Song didn't get her career thanks to "color blind casting." She NEVER played a character she didn't racially belong in. Every single character she's played is either written as an Asain or written as racially ambiguous. Cinderella 1997 was cast racially blind and that movie was an absolute joke because it made ZERO visual sense. We all definitely praised the attempt but laughed at the result. Racially blind casting is just bad casting. Brenda Song EARNED every role she was granted and looked like the character she was portraying.
