2001-2005 honda civic parking brake adjustment

If your parking brake isnt' gripping (when engaged) this is the video you should be watching. I did some research online and didnt find anything on how to adjust the 7th gen civic parking brake, figured I'll do one. Self explanatory, If you have any questions...let me know. I believe this should also apply to the 6th generation civic also.

For those who still cannot remove the back of the console after removing the screws, remove the mat at the bottom of the storage area in the console and remove the back 2 screws underneath.THEN it will come off. My 2004 Honda Civic EX had this.

Thank you for this video, 05 Civic Ex coupe special edition, found the console screws inside the center media storage but this is an easy fix I’ve been avoiding for too long for no reason

since the right rear wheel has less drag than the left you would actually go in and ajust the adjuster on the drum brake for the right rear wheel. take off the wheel, there's probably a rubber plug, take off and spin wheel with a flashlight and eventually you will see the adjuster (looks like a gear wheel) to adjust it. spin it with a flathead up or down. if you can't see adjuster take off caliper, then caliper mounting bracket, then the drum. you'll see it then. clean everything with brake cleaner since you made it this far and sand the inside of the drum where the shoes make contact, sand the shoes a little. clean with brake cleaner. adjust that adjuster and spin wheel hub with hand while adjusting.

Mine doesn't look like yours when you reveal the ebrake cables underneath the console. My driver side cable seems to be longer than my passenger side. Any reason as to why they seem to be arranged that way? Also, my driver rear drags more than passenger side. Thanks for the video.

these hand brakes seem to be overkill with the size.I've looked all thru here and can't see any modification to make it more compact.is the technology not out there yet or am I looking in the wrong places.or u have no idea?

2001 Honda Civic DX My emergency brake light won't go off. Had all new breaks put on all the way around. New drums an shoes in the back. Front I put new rotors , new break pads. And new master cylinder. Still fiils like air in the lines, while e break light won't go off. Car is on, push on break pedal, you hear a click coming from e break lever . Only when car is on. Stops ok I guess, but it still feels and hears like grinding in the back. Heavy , fat foot, break pedal still goes to the floor. Either the e break lever isn't fully releasing all the way? The pin is stuck? Or a while cyclinder is frozen , broke, and isn't letting any fluid get to the shoes in the back. Possibly even a bad caliper in the front? Now break fluid leaking, and it's not the break booster. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to push the peddle at all.

Mine pulls the passenger side more than the drivers side which makes the adjuster go on an angle

How did you get the arm rest cover out!!?? I removed the two screws on each side. I tried pulling and pushing. It won't come out.

Bunongboyz give it a hard tig at the top it should pop out. the retaining clips is whats holding it in with the screws

No, the E-brake light will go off when it looses or has ground contact. It doesnt represent which position the handbrake is in.

I would say you wouldn't have too unless your civic has calipers in the rears.

Sorry for the late reply. I suppose you dont have to. The way I did it would allow you to know how much pressure youre applying to the brakes. 1 click- low....7 -12 clicks would be max Pressure applied.
